Bentley is all set to take the wraps off the 4th-generation Continental GT. The British luxury carmaker has already released the camouflaged images of the new grand tourer, which depicts its newly updated design. While the iconic silhouette of the Continental GT remains as is, its round headlights now feature a sweeping straight element while the side profile also exhibits more muscle than before.
The highlight for the new Continental GT is its plug-in-hybrid powertrain, which Bentley likes to refer to as the new Ultra Performance Hybrid powertrain. It offers some impressive stats — 782PS of power and 1000Nm of torque — from the V8 and electric motor combined.
While the carmaker has not disclosed the battery capacity, it is said to offer a claimed electric-only driving range of 80km on a single charge. Furthermore, the advanced hybrid powertrain also offers a CO2 figure (WLTP) of under 50 g/km. The new hybrid powertrain of the Continental GT will make it the most powerful Bentley to ever go on sale. Needless to say, it will also be more sustainable while retaining the renowned luxury associated with Bentley’s flagship grand tourer.

Furthermore, the new Bentley Continental GT will also feature a host of advanced technologies. Active all wheel drive with torque vectoring, electronic limited slip differential, active anti-roll bars, adaptive two-valve dampers etc will compliment its advanced powertrain to offer dynamic performance and agility.
The Continental GT has a rich history spanning over 20 years and three generations. In these last 20 years, the Bentley grand tourer managed to break speed records, won championships and endurance races around the world. The Continental GT is the second most popular Bentley model and early next year, the carmaker will roll out the 1,00,000th Continental GT from its facility in Crewe, England.
The Bentley Continental GT has played an instrumental role in brand’s history. The first generation Continental GT increased the carmaker’s sales by 10% within four years from introduction. The second generation model further boosted its appeal with the introduction of the W12 engine alongside the V8. The third generation model brought a whole set of new changes, including a purpose built platform, new suspension and electrical systems. The fourth generation is said to push the envelope even further with its efficient hybrid powertrain.
