2024 BMW M4 CS brings serious updates

Starting with the cosmetic updates to the M4 CS, it features the same updated LED headlights with new LED DRL pattern we saw in the new M4. Since it is the CS, it continues to feature a more aggressive interpretation of the M4’s kidney grille along with red surrounds and M4 CS badging. Exterior elements finished in carbon-fibre reinforced plastics (CFRP) such as the bonnet, roof, front splitter, rear spoiler, front air intakes and side mirror caps further boost the exterior appeal while also reducing weight.

With the help of CFRP materials inside and out and a new lightweight titanium silencer, the M4 CS is about 20 kilograms lighter than the M4 Competition xDrive. Its interior also features carbon-fibre steering wheel, trim elements and lightweight M bucket seats which are all-electric as well as heated. Also part of the package is the updated BMW iDrive OS with M-specific theme.

Like before, the 2024 BMW M4 CS continues to pack a 3.0L twin-turbocharged straight-six petrol engine. Its unit dishes out 550PS of power and 650Nm of torque, which is 20PS more than the M4 Competition xDrive. As a result, the M4 CS catapults itself from standstill to 100kmph in under 3.4 seconds. The engine is mounted to the structure of the M4 CS rigidly, sporting increased spring rates. BMW has also put focus on engine sound and added a twin-branch exhaust system with variable valves. Its acoustics change as per the driving modes and sounds the best in Sport and Sport+ modes.

The BMW M4 CS underpins a sophisticated rear-biased xDrive all-wheel-drive system. In the regular modes, the rear-biased system ensures superior handling while the driver can go complete hooligan with the 2WD only mode, which is only available without the Dynamic Stability Control (DSC). Its torque converter automatic transmission also features Drivelogic, which enables the driver to choose the intensity of gear shifts among three levels — ranging from comfort to track use.

Speaking of Track Use, BMW now offers track tyres as well as lightweight forged alloy wheels as standard with the new M4 CS. Its M Compound brakes also come standard with either red or black colour for the callipers. Buyers can update the brakes to carbon ceramics with red or matte gold brake callipers. The track-grade tyres, which are 19-inch at the front and 20-inch at the rear, are said to offer superior lateral control and directional stability.
