Jeep has revealed its second battery electric vehicle (BEV) – the 2024 Jeep Wagoneer S. The compact Jeep Avenger was the brand’s first EV, but it is only available in Europe. The Wagoneer S (initially available as the exclusive Launch Edition) is Jeep’s first EV that will go on sale in North America. It will launch in the United States and Canada and be available in global markets later. To differentiate it from the standard Wagoneer S, the Launch Edition will feature dark, satin-painted accents instead of chrome, gloss black and neutral grey exterior trim, a redesigned seven-slot illuminated grille, 20-inch gloss black wheels, a dual-pane panoramic sunroof (standard fitment), customisable full-LED lighting with day/night-time settings, and 64-colour ambient lighting.

Underpinning the Wagoneer S is Jeep’s BEV-native STLA Large platform. The 400V architecture comes with full-time four-wheel drive, Stellantis-designed electric drive modules (EDMs) independently powering the front and rear wheels, and Jeep’s Selec-Terrain traction management system featuring five drive modes: Auto, Sport, Eco, Snow, and Sand. The 3-in-1 EDMs combine the electric motor, gearing and power electronics into a single compact unit. The front EDM also can disconnect the wheels to boost efficiency. The dual-motor powertrain pushes out 600HP and about 836.5Nm, giving the Wagoneer S a 0-96.5km/h time of 3.4 seconds.

Every Wagoneer S Launch Edition will include a 48A Level-2 home charger or public charging credits through Free2move Charge, Stellantis’ 360-degree charging ecosystem. The 100kWh battery also supports DC fast charging, with a 20-80% charge time of about 23 minutes. Jeep has not revealed the exact range figure, but it says the EV can drive over 483km.

Inside, the Wagoneer S sports a new, performance-inspired, wine-red-stitched steering wheel with a twin-spoke, flat-bottom design, and a new Cabo vinyl anti-microbial surface coating. The doors get an electronic release (a first for Jeep), which the light touch of a thumb can activate. Jeep has partnered with McIntosh for the Wagoneer S’ 1,200W 19-speaker system with a 12-inch subwoofer. The Wagoneer S also boasts 45 inches of digital real estate and is also touted to be the only vehicle in the segment to offer heated and ventilated front and rear seats as standard.

On sale starting in the fall of 2024, the Jeep Wagoneer S Launch Edition will have a starting price of $71,995.
