CNG or Compressed Natural Gas is becoming a popular option in the Indian auto market for those looking to cut down on fuel costs as well as opting for sustainable mobility options. Mass-market players like Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai Motor are offering CNG options for their various models and variants. Apart from cost-effectiveness and environmental benefits, CNG options offer efficient performance and decent mileage.

If you are planning to buy a CNG vehicle without breaking a bank, there are various options under INR 10 lakh in India. These include: Maruti Suzuki Fronx, Hyundai Exter, Tata Punch, Maruti Suzuki Baleno and the latest Maruti Suzuki Swift.

Maruti Suzuki Swift CNG:
The carmaker recently launched the new Swift S-CNG variant which offers a mileage of 32.85 km/kg and is available in three variants: V, V(O), and Z. With the launch of Swift CNG, Maruti now has 14 models available with CNG option in the Indian market. As for the pricing, the Swift CNG starts at INR 8,19,500 (ex-showroom). Based on the all-new Swift, which was launched in May this year, the Swift S-CNG offers an array of standard safety features such as six airbags, Electronic Stability Program+, Hill Hold Assist, among others.

Maruti Suzuki Fronx CNG:
The CNG version of Fronx is powered by the 1.2-litre petrol engine which comes mated to either a five-speed manual gearbox. It offers a mileage of 28.51 km/kg certified by ARAI. The CNG vehicle is capable of churning out 76 bhp of power and 98 Nm of peak torque. Fronx CNG starts at INR 8,46,500 (ex-showroom).

Hyundai Exter CNG:
The CNG versions of Hyundai Exter get bi-fuel (CNG and petrol) engine paired with a five-speed manual transmission. The engine can generate an output of 68 bhp of power and 95 Nm of peak torque. In terms of mileage, the vehicle offers a fuel efficiency of 27.1 km/kg, certified by ARAI. Exter CNG starts at INR 8,50,300 (ex-showroom).

Tata Punch CNG:
The Punch CNG is offered only with manual gearbox option, and can generate 72 bhp of power and 103 Nm of torque. It offers an ARAI-certified fuel efficiency of 26.9 km/kg and comes at a starting price of INR 8,29,900 (ex-showroom).

Maruti Suzuki Baleno CNG:
Baleno CNG comes at a starting price of INR 8,40,000 (ex-showroom) and offers a mileage of 30.6 km/kg.
