Today marks a major accomplishment for Hyundai Motor Company as it hits a combined global output of 100 million vehicles since its creation 57 years ago. This important achievement ranks Hyundai among the quickest leading automakers worldwide. The Ulsan Plant in South Korea staged a ceremony that highlighted the company's experience and goals moving forward.

To thank its customers for their trust. Hyundai presented its 100 millionth vehicle - an IONIQ 5 electric model to a customer at a unique handover event. As part of the ceremony there was a grand presentation named '100 million and 1' showcasing Hyundai's promise to advance through innovation.

Jaehoon Chang noted that achieving global production of 100 million vehicles marked an important milestone for the company. Global customers have enabled us to reach this important milestone since we launched our business. Our aggressive challenges and quest for creative progress have led to our quick progress and we aspire to advance toward an additional 100 million vehicles.

Since 1968 the Ulsan Plant has served as the starting point of the Korean car industry. In 1975 the first mass-produced model from Korea rolled off the assembly line here under the name Pony. At present this location is essential to Hyundai's electrification approach and it intends to build an exclusive electric vehicle assembly line.

The President and Director of Korea's Production acknowledged the efforts of Hyundai workers in gaining this landmark. Team members at Hyundai Motor have helped to achieve 100 million units due to their commitment. This event starts a new chapter in electrification that Hyundai will spearhead.

The company's growth has risen with the launch of its luxury brand Genesis and performance arm N alongside the introduction of pioneering electric vehicles such as the IONIQ 5 that uses the E-GMP platform. Production sites were established globally in Turkey and India by the automaker while exceeding 50 million vehicles made by 2013.

In recent times Hyundai has advanced its initiatives by creating the Hyundai Motor Group Global Innovation Center Singapore (HMGISC) to develop smart urban mobility systems. This center plans to combine modern technologies like robots and artificial intelligence across production facilities including the upcoming Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America.
