Continental AG has recently launched its new creation for the city riders: Pure CONTACT – the lightest tyre with enhanced puncture protection for daily commuting and city riding. Pure CONTACT represents a further evolution within Continental’s Urban range of tyre by exceeding previously established safety standards through the adoption of Level Eight on its Safety Level scale. This achievement came after the release of E-CONTACT Plus model which earlier dominated in the Level Seven category.
This extended puncture protection is achieved by the advanced multi-layer breaker technologies and come with Continental’s premium racing tyres Poly X breaker. It enables riders to tackle urban areas with much ease on either dry or wet conditions to avoid incidences.
Pure CONTACT is strategically developed for all-purpose traction with an innovative tread pattern that incorporates repeating grooves, scales and drainage channels. Besides improving grip and rolling resistance, this configuration also accommodates light off-road use while proving suitable for various urban surfaces.

Designed for both electric and traditional bicycles, Pure CONTACT is compatible with sizes between 50-60/584 and 40-55/622 and is designed for SUV E-bikes; it is E50 rated for excellent tensile strength.
They have used silica obtained from rice husk ash, agricultural waste by product through an energy efficient process of the development. Silica provides better grip, rolling resistance and durability as well as works well with natural rubber compounds that Continental responsibly sources for its tyres.
Continental's Oliver Vauth, the Urban Product Manager, especially pointed out the performance of Pure CONTACT during tests and noted that it offered the best of both worlds: low rolling resistance and sufficient puncture protection. The exceptional results achieved by a tyre were captured by Vauth who observed that a new puncture protection standard was required.
In addition to performance improvements, Pure CONTACT also applies sustainable design elements using more than a third recycled/renewable materials. That can be viewed in the context of the tyre production which indicates company’s intention on minimising environmental footprint while providing the top quality product.
According to Vauth, he had many positive feelings regarding the capabilities of Pure CONTACT in enhancing the urban cycling saying that the bike was flexible to take on different terrains ranging from smooth urban surface to a light trail. He is convinced that Pure CONTACT will help the cyclists to find new graphies and share the experience of riding, using the additional capabilities of Pure CONTACT for the more safe and fascinating riding.
The tyre also offers a Graphite Reflex Stripe which is great for visibility especially in the nighttime which is an added safety for cyclists especially those in urban areas. Pure CONTACT is Continental’s commitment to the constant evolution of urban cycling tyres and creating a stronger and greener experience for cyclists around the world.
