Chinese EV maker BYD is calling back almost 97 thousand of its best-selling electric cars due to possible fire hazards linked to a steering control unit. According to the State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR), on Sunday a recall impacted Dolphin and Yuan Plus models from production months of November 2022 through December 2023.

BYD will undertake a physical solution for all concerned vehicles and will request dealers to execute the needed alterations. It remained unclear if the recalled vehicles had left for international sales.
About 26% of BYD's total sales in 2023 stemmed from the Dolphin and Yuan Plus models jointly due to their important role in boosting sales The recall stands out for BYD as it swiftly rises to the top position of global electric and hybrid vehicle markets.
Although BYD performs few recalls like this one previously the firm encountered problems with its vehicles before. A small recall was started in 2022 for some Tang plug-in hybrids following a defect in the battery pack that could cause fires.
As the market for electric vehicles increases steadily regulators and manufacturers must emphasize safety. The way BYD handles the steering component problem shows its dedication to ensure safety standards while growing quickly in the auto sector.
As of now, BYD has not acknowledged inquiries from the media about the recall. Expect additional information as the company tackles the problem and guarantees customer security.
