Audi Brussels announces change in leadership: Thomas Bogus becomes plant manager

Thomas Bogus

Thomas Bogus will assume the role of Managing Director at Audi Brussels from September 16 onwards. This appointment marks a significant leadership transition for the Belgian arm of the renowned German automaker. Bogus, who currently serves as the Project Manager overseeing the production of all-electric Audi models, will step into the position previously held by Volker Germann.

Bogus in his current capacity shoulders the responsibility for the production of all-electric Audi models across manufacturing facilities in Europe and China. His portfolio includes oversight of the Audi Q8 e-tron model family, which is produced at the Brussels plant. Bogus's role extends to managing the electrification initiatives at various Audi sites and overseeing the production lifecycle of these cutting-edge model series.

Gerd Walker, the Board Member for Production and Logistics at AUDI AG, expressed confidence in Bogus's appointment saying, "Thomas Bogus brings a wealth of experience from the international Audi production network and possesses a deep understanding of the entire production process. His track record includes successfully launching numerous model series. We believe his expertise will be invaluable in guiding the Brussels site through this challenging period with the necessary care and skill."

In his forthcoming role, Bogus will take on the titles of Managing Director for Production, Technology and Logistics, as well as Management Spokesman of AUDI BRUSSELS S.A./N.V. This comprehensive position underscores the significance of his appointment and the trust placed in his leadership capabilities.

As Bogus prepares to take the reins, outgoing Managing Director Volker Germann reflected on his tenure sharing, "Over the past five years, I've developed a deep connection with the site and its dedicated workforce. Our plant has been instrumental in the production of all-electric models within the Audi network and has actively fostered the exchange of knowledge in this domain – an achievement I take great pride in." Germann is now poised to undertake new challenges within the Audi Group, building upon his successful stint at the Brussels site.

Gerd Walker acknowledged Germann's contributions, noting, "Volker Germann's expertise in production and his international experience within the Volkswagen and Audi Group were pivotal in driving the transition to electric mobility at the Brussels site. We extend our heartfelt gratitude for his tireless efforts and personal dedication to the facility."

In a separate but related development, the Board of Management of Audi Brussels informed the company council in July about their intentions to restructure the site. This announcement marked the commencement of an information and consultation process, as mandated by Belgian law. During this process, plant management will engage in discussions with the relevant social partners to explore solutions that will shape the future trajectory of the site.

This leadership transition and the ongoing restructuring efforts underscore Audi's commitment to adapting to the evolving landscape of the automotive industry, particularly in the realm of electric mobility. As Thomas Bogus prepares to lead Audi Brussels into this new chapter, the company stands at the cusp of significant transformations that will likely influence its operations and strategic direction in the years to come.
