Burglar does work around house

A burglar in Wales broke into a woman's home and did a few chores around the house before leaving an eerie note for her. Damian Wojnilowicz hung out the washed clothes, kept the groceries in the refrigerator and emptied the recycling bin.

The woman says she returned and saw that her things had been moved around. She said she was too scared to live in her own house after the creepy incident.

The man has been given a 22-month jail term for carrying out the unusual burglary in the Monmouthshire home on July 16. The man also cooked himself a meal in the woman's house on her stove with the items from her cupboard, prosecutor Alice Sykes told the court.

He also left a note saying, "Don't worry, be happy, eat up and scratch."

The matter came up at the Cardiff Crown Court on Thursday where the sentencing hearing took place. The court was told that the man also refilled the bird feeders in the garden and moved plant pots around.

He also took the liberty to take a pair of shoes out of its packaging after which he put the paper in the recycling bin. Wojnilowicz also kept away her shopping, putting things in the fridge and rearranging the other items in it.

He also did several other tasks in the house. He took the utensils and placed them in the bin, laying out the new ones from the shopping bag. The burglar also cleaned the bathroom floor and replaced toothbrush heads.

He also helped himself to some wine, leaving the bottle outside on the next counter next to a glass and bottle opener.

The woman upon noticing that someone had been into her house, checked with her neighbour who told her that she saw someone hanging clothes outside.

Burglar was found drunk in another house

Wojnilowicz broke into another house on July 29, but this time the homeowner received a CCTV alert on his phone which showed him walking on his driveway. He used the shower in a summerhouse to wash his clothes. He also took a bath in the bathtub and ate food.

The victim asked his son-in-law to reach his house, where he found the burglar drunk. He asked him to leave and he immediately left. However, Wojnilowicz was arrested later. His DNA matched with the fingerprints found in the woman's house in the first burglary.

"Two weeks after the crime until he was caught, I was living in a state of heightened anxiety I had never experienced before," the woman said in a statement.

"I was too scared to stay in my own home and stayed with a friend. When I returned home I was accompanied by my daughter as I was too scared to go alone," she added.

Wojnilowicz has pleaded guilty to two counts of burglary.
