As the Russia-Ukraine war continues to stretch even after over two years, a power facility in the vicinity of Kyiv, Ukraine's capital, was wiped out by Russian missiles.
The Trypilska Nuclear Power Plant, which came under attack, is located near the town of Trypillya, in the south of Kyiv. It is one of the several nuclear power facilities in Ukraine. Media reports citing sources familiar with the attack said that the facility was obliterated by six missiles on Thursday (Apr 11) morning.
The attack resulted in a blaze engulfing the facility. The facility is owned by Centrenergo, a state-operated electricity and heat producer, reports said.

According to reports quoting Kyiv officials, strikes aimed at Ukraine's energy infrastructure have resulted in damage to substations and power facilities across five regions. Because of the impacted facilities, these strikes led to emergency power outages affecting at least 200,000 people, according to officials.
Top US general warns
General Christopher Cavoli, the commander of European Command and the top US general in Europe, on Wednesday (Apr 10) said that Ukraine's artillery shells and air defence interceptors will deplete rapidly without US assistance. He warned that this could render Ukraine susceptible to either partial or complete defeat in the near future.

Ukraine's parliament on Thursday approved a contentious bill that will alter the regulations regarding civilian military mobilisation.

If Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky signs the bill to take effect, it will tackle the dwindling manpower within its armed forces. After months of deliberation, the bill received approval of the Parliament in its final reading with a majority of 283 votes, reports said quoting Yaroslav Zhelezniak, a lawmaker representing the Holos party.
