Putin plans to introduce 'ministry of sex' in Russia amid drooping birth rate

Russia is now likely to get a 'ministry of sex' to solve the issue of the dropped birth rate in the country.

Russian President Vladimir Putin-loyalist Nina Ostanina - who is the chairperson of the Russian parliament’s committee on Family Protection, Paternity, Maternity and Childhood - has been looking into a petition demanding such a ministry.

The petition came in the wake of Russian officials coming up with different ideas to put a stop to the demographic slide in the country as has been asked by Putin, as reported by Western media outlets.

Bizarre proposals of Russian officials to increase population

Russian officials have come up with different kinds of proposals to increase the population of the country. In one of the proposals, people were encouraged to switch off the internet as well as the lights in their houses between 10 pm and 2 am and have sex to create babies.

In another proposal, the state was asked to pay stay-at-home women, who are raising their children, for the housework they do and also include it in their pension calculations.

Another proposal says that the couple should be paid up to 5,000 roubles ($51.06) for their first dates by the state.

In one proposal, it was stated that wedding night couples should be booked in hotels using public cash with a limit of 26,300 roubles ($268.60) with the hope of future pregnancies.

According to a report published in Moskvich magazine, the Ministry of Sex will take charge of initiatives which are aimed at boosting the birthrate and have been proposed in a petition filed by GlavPR agency.

A lot of Russian regions have also made their own plans for encouraging people to have children. In a new initiative, the female students in the Khabarovsk region - who are between the ages of 18 to 23 - are being given £900 ($1,162) on the birth of a child under the new initiative.

Chelyabinsk has been paying £8,500 ($10,979) to students on the birth of their first child.

Regional health minister Dr Yevgeny Shestopalov has asked Russians to introduce the sex-at-work scheme in their lives which suggested creating babies during lunch and coffee breaks.

“You can engage in procreation during breaks because life flies by too quickly,” Shestopalov said.

However, in Moscow, the state has been intruding into the sex lives of women and forcing them to have more babies.

The female public sector workers are being asked intimate questions regarding sex and menstruation and if they are refusing to answer them, they are being asked to go to doctors.
