Capitol poop statue

A statue mocking those who stormed the Capitol on Jan 6, 2021, has been installed in front of the same building. A swirly poop in bronze sits on a desk with California Rep. Nancy Pelosi’s name and was unveiled on Thursday morning.

Below the installation is the explanation, which reads, "This memorial honors the brave men and women who broke into the United States Capitol on January 6, 2021 to loot, urinate and defecate throughout those hallowed halls in order to overturn an election."

Pushing further with its sarcastic tone, the message also ropes in Donald Trump. “President Trump celebrates these heroes of January 6th as ‘unbelievable patriots’ and ‘warriors'. This monument stands as a testament to their daring sacrifice and lasting legacy."

The shameful incident happened in Jan 2021 when lawmakers gathered to ratify the 2020 presidential elections and confirm Joe Biden as the president of the United States. Several officers were injured as a mob stormed the building, with lawmakers seeking cover. One of the rioters was accused of pooping on Pelosi's desk.

As the proceedings happened at the Capitol, Trump urged his supporters to force then-Vice President Mike Pence to overturn the election on social media. To this day, Trump denies that Biden won.

The monument nowhere mentions who is behind the bizarre piece of art work. However, NBC News reported that a public gathering permit provided to it by the National Park Service says Julia Jimenez-Pyzik of Civic Crafted LLC applied to put it up. As per the document, the installation will stay there till Oct 31. A secruity guard will keep watch for the next seven days.

Second monument on its way

The permit carries the name of the monument as The Resolute Desk.

"This desk represents the heart of democracy, where decisions are made, voices are heard, and the future is shaped," the permit states. "More than just a place for work, it is a testament to the ideals of transparency, accountability, and representation."

According to the permit, another installation is on its way and will crop up at Freedom Plaza, on Pennsylvania Avenue, between the Capitol and the White House on Oct. 28.

It will depict a Tiki Torch, with a hand emerging from a stone base holding one.
