He mentioned Trump and said, "He's hot, he's cold. One day he loves you, one day he hates you."
"The messaging that's coming out these days from the United States is so incredibly confusing that it leaves people wondering whether they should act on it. Or just ignore it. And what most people are choosing to do is usually ignore it, from a business standpoint," he said in his statement at the summit.
The journalist emphasised how this inconsistency violates fundamental business principles. "If you're a real businessman, you would know that the last thing you ever want to do to a market is confuse it. There has to be consistency of messaging," he argued.
"Look, we'll be your friend. We'll be your business partners, we'll buy your products. We'll share rare earth minerals with you... Let's just get together and we'll do for each other what you were hoping the United States would do for you that you no longer trust the United States will do," the journo added.
He also added, “The person who's holding the door open is Donald Trump. Donald Trump is literally telling Russia, we don't want to be your friends. Go be friends with China.”
