No reason to suspend Sukhoi Superjet aircraft operation: Russian transport minister

Russian transport minister Yevgeny Dietrich said today the bodies of the 41 killed have all been recovered after an SSJ-100 passenger plane en route to the northwestern Russian city of Murmansk caught fire before an emergency landing Sunday in Moscow.
During a press briefing held Monday at the Sheremetyevo International Airport, where the accident took place, the official confirmed that 40 passengers and one crew member out of the total 78 on board lost their lives.
He said that 33 out of the 37 survivors are passengers, and 27 of them are in good health, while the other six are receiving treatment in the hospital, with no life-threatening injuries reported.
The minister told the press that the investigation committee into the accident and other related departments will provide all necessary help that the survivors as well as the families of the victims might need, including psychological support, and will later commence a compensation scheme after collecting the needed information.
The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation is still looking into the possibilities behind the cause of the deadly plane fire, including insufficient qualifications of the pilots, the dispatchers and technical inspectors.

Other possibilities include aircraft malfunction and adverse weather conditions, according to the committee.
So far the two black boxes from the plane have been retrieved for study, together with fuel samples from the plane's tanks and filling station, recordings of the conversation between the pilots and the dispatchers and recordings from surveillance cameras.
The investigators are also questioning eyewitnesses, airport employees and relatives of the victims.
There is no reason to suspend the operation of the Sukhoi Superjet 100 aircraft, said minister Dietrich during the press briefing.
Many flights scheduled to depart from the Sheremetyevo International Airport, one of the largest in Russia, have been canceled or delayed, and some have also been transferred to other airports in Moscow.
As of Monday evening, the clean-up work on the runway was completed and air traffic will resume in another 24 hours, according to reports.
