Iran and Pakistan call on UN Security Council to take stern action against Israel
Iran and Pakistan released a joint statement on Wednesday (Apr 24) urging the United Nations Security Council to take stern action against Israel stating that the country had targeted neighbouring countries and foreign diplomatic facilities "illegally".
The development came following Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi's three-day visit to Pakistan amid an escalation of tensions in the Middle East.
"Recognising that the irresponsible act of the Israeli regime forces was a major escalation in an already volatile region, both sides called on the UN Security Council to prevent the Israeli regime from its adventurism in the region and its illegal acts attacking its neighbours...," Iran and Pakistan said in their joint statement released by Pakistan's foreign ministry.
Last week, explosions were reported in Iran's Isfahan, what Tehran said was an Israeli attack.
However, Iran said that it has no plans to retaliate against Israel.
The visit by Raisi was aimed at mending ties between neighbouring countries Iran and Pakistan where the Iranian President vowed to give a push to the trade between both countries by $10 billion a year.

"Both sides agreed to increase the volume of bilateral trade to 10 billion U.S. dollars in the next five years," Sharif's office said in a statement after a joint news briefing.
"They also agreed to cooperate in developing joint approaches to confront common challenges including the threat of terrorism," the statement said.
Israeli attack on Iran territory could change dynamics, threatens Tehran
Raisi, during his three-day visit, threatened to annihilate Israel in case of an attack on Iranian territory.
He said that an Israeli offensive against Iran would lead to a radical change in the dynamics and would also result in and result in there being nothing left of the "Zionist regime".
Tehran on April 13 launched an unprecedented attack against Israel in retaliation for an Israeli strike on its Damascus consulate on April 1 that killed seven officers, including a senior commander of the IRGC.
This conflict between Iran and Israel comes as Israel has been already fighting a war with Hamas since early October last year.
Pakistan previously released a statement calling for de-escalation by "all parties".
