Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters from South Africa won the Miss Universe crown Sunday.
A self-defence trainer by profession, 22-year-old Nel-Peters won the crown at thepageant held in Las Vegas, with Miss Colombia and Miss Jamaicamaking it to the final three.
The new Miss Universe apart from teaching women self-defence is also a business management graduate.
Nel-Peters won the crown after competing with 92 women from around the world as this year's edition had the highest number of participants, including the first-ever representatives ofCambodia, Laos and Nepal.
