US President Donald Trump has said American forces deliberately avoided targeting oil infrastructure during strikes on Iran’s Kharg Island.
Speaking after the raid, Trump said the United States chose not to attack the island’s oil facilities even as military targets were hit during the operation. Kharg Island is a key hub for Iran’s crude exports and sits near the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global energy shipping route.
Trump also warned that oil infrastructure could become a target if shipping through the Strait of Hormuz is disrupted during the ongoing conflict.
