Odisha Violence: Internet Shutdown, Shops Set Ablaze Amid Communal Violence In Cuttack
The Odisha government has temporarily suspended internet and social media services in parts of Cuttack city. This decision came on Sunday after reports of tension and violence between two groups. In a notification from the Home Department, Additional Chief Secretary Satyabrata Sahu explained that the move aims to stop the spread of false and provocative messages on platforms such as WhatsApp, Facebook, X, Instagram, and Snapchat. These messages could disturb public peace. The internet shutdown affects all mobile and broadband data services in the Cuttack Municipal Corporation area, Cuttack Development Authority area, and the 42 Mauza region.
