<p>The right-handed batter, who emerged as the top-scorer in the previous edition in England, scoring 648 runs from nine matches at an average of 81, including five hundreds, is tipped to stand tall in this category for the second straight time.</p>

This mission, headed by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), marks a huge and historic achievement for the country and its success rode on the optimal performance of the Vikram Lunar lander. With the successful landing, India has further elevated its stature and joined a select group of nations to have attained the historic feat of soft lunar landings. Apart from India, the United States, China, and the former Soviet Union are the other nations to have successfully made lunar landings so far.</p>

<p>After India's momentous achievement, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, "Every Indian is celebrating today. Every home is celebrating. I am also connected to the people of my country at this proud moment. On Wednesday (August 23), India scripted history in its lunar exploration as Chandrayaan-3 made a successful landing at the Moon's South Pole. This mission, headed by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), marks a huge and historic achievement for the country and its success rode on the optimal performance of the Vikram Lunar lander.

With the successful landing, India has further elevated its stature and joined a select group of nations to have attained the historic feat of soft lunar landings. Apart from India, the United States, China, and the former Soviet Union are the other nations to have successfully made lunar landings so far. After India's momentous achievement, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, "Every Indian is celebrating today. Every home is celebrating. I am also connected to the people of my country at this proud moment. It is the dawn of a new era." PM Modi added, "He also congratulated the team of scientists in Isro who made the mission a success. "No country has reached there (the South Pole of the moon) before. With the hard work of our scientists, we have reached there." After India's successful landing, many sports personalities also reacted to the historic achievement for the country. Among India's sports personalities, Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar led the wishes and wrote on X, formerly Twitter, "@ISRO represents the best of India. Humble, hardworking women & men, coming together, overcoming challenges, and making our tricolour fly high. To score 189 out of 182 balls against the quality of Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, Pat Cummins I think is extraordinary. I think that potential is why Ben and Brendon have stuck with him. He plays shots which no one else can play as an opener in the world."</p>

<p>"You can compare a little bit of Sehwag in terms of the ability to take frontline bowlers down. It's actually unique and when he does have his day, he changes games. That's why he's been backed so hard by the England leadership and they got rewarded for it. I mean he plays shots that I could only dream of and it was an extraordinary innings," Cook, England's second-most successful Test captain mentioned.</p>

<p>Crawley will be over the moon having being compared with Sehwag. The former Indian opener was a nightmare for bowlers as he often took them on from the word go while opening the innings in the&nbsp;red-ball format. He ended with 8,586&nbsp;runs in 104 Tests, at a strike rate of&nbsp;82.23, including 32 fifties and 23 tons.</p>

<p>England will hope for another big contribution from Crawley in the fifth and final Test as Ben Stokes &amp; Co. need to win The Oval contest to end the series at 2-2. <p>Under his leadership and a star-studded squad at the helm, India ended the 50-over World Cup drought, winning the final against Sri Lanka by six wickets at the Wankhede Stadium.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Chasing 275 against a potent Sri Lankan attack, India lost two wickets inside the Powerplay. While Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir steadied the innings with an 83-run stand for the third wicket, it was a match-winning partnership of 109 runs that saw India cross the winning line.</p>

<p>Though Gambhir ended with the highest score of 97 runs, it was an unbeaten 91 from the captain Cool, which sealed the deal for India.</p>

Speaking at the launch event on Tuesday, Virender Sehwag -- former Indian opener and 2011 ODI World Cup winner -- spoke at length about the 50-over mega event and called it the 'Olympics of cricket'.</p>

<p>Sehwag said, "For me, the World Cup is the best moment. I have reached the final once, won it once and crashed out without qualifying. So the journey has been up and down."</p>

Dhoni's six, Kapil Dev's 175, still gives us goosebumps. There is nothing bigger than the World Cup, it is the Olympics of Cricket," he opined.</p>

<p>"Because representing India in the Olympics is a big thing, but if you win a medal there, it is widely celebrated in the country. No one might know the athlete before they go to the Olympics, but once they come back after winning, the whole country applauds them. They will play Pakistan on October 15, in Ahmedabad, whereas the tournament opener will take place between the last edition's finalists England and New Zealand on October 05&nbsp;at the same venue. The semi-finals will be hosted by Mumbai and Kolkata, respectively, whereas Ahmedabad will host the summit clash on November 19.&nbsp;</p>

<p>While BCCI continues to struggle to find Chetan Sharma's successor, reports have suggested that former Indian opener Virender Sehwag&nbsp;could represent North Zone in the selection committee and also become the next chief selector. BCCI is looking for a big name to head the selection committee, and while Sehwag is eligible to take over the post, he is unlikely to apply for it due to the pay package.</p>

<p>As per reports in the news agency PTI, the pay package isn't lucrative enough to attract big names such as Sehwag for the post of chief selector. It is to be noted that the current salary of a chief selector is INR 1 crore (10 million). A BCCI official, on condition&nbsp;of&nbsp;anonymity, spoke at length to PTI about the matter, with regards to Sehwag's name cropping up as an ideal candidate. He&nbsp;said, "During CoA's time, Viru was asked to apply for the head coach's job and then it went to Anil Kumble. It is unlikely he will apply himself and also the pay package isn't something that will be financially viable for someone of his stature. But if we talk about stature, only he makes the cut from North Zone. It is not that BCCI can't pay a chairman of selectors at least Rs 4-5 crore. It can actually solve a lot of these conflict of interest issues which prevent prominent players from even thinking of coming into selection committee."</p>

<p>"When Dilip bhai was chairman, he had to make a choice between S Badrinath and Virat Kohli. He saw a few India A games in Australia and he knew whom to back. Rest is history. He could stand his ground in front of Greg Chappell before that."</p>

<p>At present, former Indian opener Shiv Sundar Das, from the East Zone, is spearheading the selection committee. The senior men's team will be in action next month during their all-format tour of the West Indies, starting July 12. BCCI will be eager to appoint the head of the selection committee very soon with the ODI World Cup to be held later this year at home.</p>

<p>Virender Sehwag has called ex-Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq the best middle-order batter from Asia. Speaking his heart out on Gaurav Kapoor’s Breakfast with Champions YouTube show, the former India batter said people talk about legendary Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid, but to him, Inzamam was as good as any batter from this part of the world.</p>

<p>Sehwag said since Sachin is not counted among the rest as the India batter is the greatest-ever, Inzamam, off all the other middle-order batters from Asia, stands out as the best.</p>

<p>“Everyone talks about Sachin Tendulkar, but Inzamam-Ul-Haq is Asia’s biggest middle-order batsman,” Sehwag told Gaurav Kapoor on Breakfast with Champions.<br />
“See, Tendulkar was above the league of batsmen. So he doesn’t count. But when it comes to the most superior-middle order batsman across India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, I have never seen anyone better than him (Inzamam),” Sehwag added.</p>

<p>Elaborating on what made him call Inzamam the best, Sehwag said unlike other batters or captains during the early 2000s, Inzamam was not afraid of chasing down huge totals – even if the run rate is above eight.</p>

<p>“In that era – 2003-04 – he used to talk about scoring eight an over. He would say, ‘Don’t worry. We’ll score easily. 80 required in 10 overs, any other players would panic, but he was always confident,” Viru said.</p>

<h2>When Sehwag asked Inzamam to make field changes</h2>

<p>Having detailed everyone on this specific incident a few times before, Sehwag again pulled attention to this hilarious incident where he being an opposition player, asked Pakistan captain Inzamam to make field changes during a Test in 2005.</p>

<p>Sehwag revealed while playing Danish Kaneria, he asked Inzamam to bring a fielder up so he could hit him for a six. Surprisingly, the Pakistan captain took that as a challenge and made the necessary field change, leading to what Sehwag had promised him.</p>

<p>“It was in 2005. Kaneria (Danish) was bowling round the wickets right at my pads. They were trying to stop me from scoring. I played an over or two defensively. I said to him, ‘Inzy bhai, it’s been a while. Now my legs are also hurting… How long should i stretch and take it on my pads?</p>

<p>“I told him to call the long-on fielder inside the circle. He asked me what I’d do then. I said that I’d hit a six. He said ‘your are joking.’ I said, ‘sent the fielder back if I don’t hit a six,” Sehwag said.</p>

<p>“He agreed and called the fielder closer. Kaneria bowled a googly. He didn’t know about this and I hit the googly for a six over long-on. Kaneria got angry. He said, ‘Inzi bhai, why did you bring the fielder up?’ Inzamam told him; ‘Be quiet, you don’t know what’s going on here…Go back and bowl. Otherwise, I’ll send you out from the ground."</p>

<p>Former India opener Virender Sehwag recalled the time when he locked himself in a room for two days. Speaking with Gaurav Kapoor on ‘Breakfast with Champions’, Sehwag narrates what happened behind the scenes. After India suffered a shocking exit from the 2007 World Cup in the West Indies, going down in two out of the three matches inside the group stages, Sehwag, who was part of the star-studded squad, locked himself in his room for two days.</p>

<p>Sehwag revealed since that squad was perhaps the best Indian squad, at least on paper, in any edition of the World Cup, not making it to the second round broke the dressing room’s morale.</p>

<p>While the team stood back in Trinidad and Tobago for two days following the loss at the hands of Sri Lanka, the dashing opener admitted he didn’t step outside of his room; with some help from his relatives in the USA, he managed to finish three seasons of Prison Break series instead.</p>

<p>“Everyone thought we would reach the next round. We had a two-day break after the league stage,” Sehwag told Gaurav Kapoor on BWC.</p>

<p>“We lost, we didn’t have tickets. We had to stay two days extra at Trinidad and Tobago without any practice. In those two days, I didn’t ask for room service or housekeeping, I didn’t even step out of the room. With the help of a relative in the US, I arranged for Prison Break and finished three seasons of the show during that time,” Sehwag added.</p>

<p>The team that had the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Sourav Ganguly, Yuvraj Singh and MS Dhoni, lost to Bangladesh in the first game, and after beating Bermuda in a record-scoring encounter, went down to Sri Lanka in the final league match.</p>

<p>Although India lost the 2003 World Cup, losing to Australia in the final, Sehwag said the 2007 World Cup exit hurt more.</p>

<p>Sehwag's comments came on the back of yet another poor performance by SRH bowlers where they once again failed to defend 200 runs.</p>

<p>“You can only win by dismissing those batters. (Markram had kept) Fine leg, square leg, and deep midwicket, and asked the bowler to bowl a back-of-the-length delivery. He doesn't have the experience yet. He might have worked a lot with Dale Steyn, but he hasn't really got the idea of his length. Despite working with Steyn for so long and learning under him, he's doing the same mistakes that he did last year,” the former batsman added.</p>

<p>Notably, Umran Malik had a brilliant 2022 where he took 22 wickets in 14 matches but the pacer couldn't replicate his success in 2023. The speedster could only take five wickets in eight matches of IPL 2023. Malik not being part of Playing XI in many matches this season also raised a lot of eyebrows and skipper Aiden Markram's was criticised a lot as well for giving a vague answer to the situation.</p>

<p>"David, if you are listening, please play well. Score 50 in 25 balls. Learn from Jaiswal, he did it in 25 balls. If you cannot do that, do not come and play in the IPL," said Sehwag while speaking to cricket website Cricbuzz after Delhi's third consecutive loss in IPL 2023.</p>

<p>Notably, Warner scored 65 off 55 balls as Delhi faltered in chase of 200. Apart from Warner, only Lalit Yadav (38 off 24) and Rilee Rossouw (14 off 12) could reach double figures as Capitals lost by 57 runs.</p>

<p>Explaining his comments, Sehwag said that a quickfire 30 from Warner would have been better instead of 55-60. He added that a fast innings from Warner could have given other players a chance to chase the target.</p>

<p>Delhi Capitals' opening batsman Prithvi Shaw failed yet again in DC's second IPL match vs Gujarat Titans (GT) as his team lost the home game by six wickets. Batting first on a lively pitch, Shaw tried to take on GT's Mohammed Shami but could only guide a short ball towards mid-on with seven to his name.</p>

<p>Shaw's failure did not go well with former India opener Virender Sehwag who said that Shaw has gotten out the same way many times now and should learn from his mistakes.</p>

<p>“He has been dismissed playing those kinds of shots so many times…but he should also learn from his mistakes, right? Look at Shubman Gill, who played U-19 cricket with him and is now playing Test, ODIs and T20Is for India, but Shaw is still struggling in IPL. He has to make the most of this IPL platform and score runs. Ruturaj Gaikwad scored 600 odd runs in an IPL season. Shubman Gill also scored big runs. So even Shaw has to be consistent with his IPL scores,” said Sehwag.</p>

<p>Another former India opener, Sunil Gavaskar, also criticised Shaw's technique on air during the match and said, "Once again that backfoot has done him in, it doesn’t move at all.”</p>

<p>Notably, DC's Director of Cricket Sourav Ganguly had before that start of the season that he'll soon be playing for India.</p>

<p>"I think Prithvi Shaw is ready to play for India. Whether he gets an opportunity will depend on slots. I am sure Rohit Sharma and selectors have a close eye on him. He is a good player and ready,” Ganguly had told Times of India before the start of IPL 2023.</p>

<p>Shaw, who scored 12 runs in DC's opening game against LSG, was also predicted to have a breakout 2023 season by DC coach Ricky Ponting.</p>

<p>"He’s in a better physical shape than I’ve ever seen him before. I spoke to him the other day about his attitude, the way he’s working, and how things are going. I honestly feel that this is going to be his biggest season in the IPL. He just has that different look in his eye this year. You can see, he’s hungrier than ever," Ponting had said.</p>

<p>It'll be interesting to see how Shaw plays this season now after a couple of failures but complete backing by the team management. DC next play against Rajasthan Royals on April 8 in Guwahati.</p>
