<p>Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag has accused Pakistan selector Wahab Riaz of practising favouritism while picking up the national squad. Riaz was appointed as the&nbsp;chief selector of the Pakistan national men's selection committee in November last year and immediately called up his colleague from the playing days, Mohammad Amir, back into the squad.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Sehwag pointed out that Amir had retired and was questioning the team on national TV but as soon as Wahab came into the picture, the left-arm pacer was on the flight to the US and West Indies to play in the T20 World Cup.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Sehwag said Gaikwad was deviating from CSK's core philosophy of giving the long rope to players by making constant changes to the squad composition.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Sehwag said the Kiwi batter was not even batting poorly which warranted exclusion from the squad.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag has slammed critics following his controversial post, celebrating Pakistan's potential exit from the World Cup after New Zealand's five-wicket win against Sri Lanka.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, Sehwag said he was not returning any love to the Pakistani side after their behaviour against Indians had been anything but cordial.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“In the 21st century there have been 6 ODI world cups. In 6 attempts, only once in 2007 did we not qualify for the semi-finals and have qualified in 5 of the last 6 World Cups. On the other hand, only once have Pakistan qualified for the semis in 6 attempts in 2011. And they come up with ridiculous allegations blaming ICC and BCCI of changing balls and pitch,” Sehwag posted on ‘X’.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The former Indian opener recounted the previous instance when the Pakistan side had crossed the line when it came to the sport and made it a political platform.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“Their Prime Minister mocks us when we lose to another team despite having beaten them. Upon reaching here, their player posts pictures of enjoying tea in Hyderabad with sarcasm to mock our soldier. The cricket’s governing body announced their inclusion on Monday, with all three acknowledging the utmost honour for the service they provided on the field.</p>

<p>One of India’s greatest openers across formats, Sehwag deserves&nbsp;to be in ICC’s Hall of Fame for the impact he had on the game and&nbsp;Indian Cricket.</p>

<p>Regarded by countless as perhaps the most destructive batter since the great Viv Richards, Sehwag was the first Indian to complete a triple hundred in Tests – scoring 309 against Pakistan in Multan, 2004. A few years later, he scored his second triple-century against South Africa in Chennai in 2008.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Even during the 2011 World Cup, Sehwag was among the top run-getters and helped India clinch the coveted trophy for the first time in 28 years.</p>

<p>Outside of her three-decade career on the field, wherein as a left-arm orthodox spinner, she picked over 100 wickets, Edulji worked towards providing employment opportunities for talented female cricketers in the country in the Railways. She also helped shape the sports policy of Western and Indian Railways.</p>

<p>“At the outset, I would like to thank the ICC and the Jury for having selected me to be inducted in the ICC Hall Of Fame 2023," Edulji said. “It indeed is a great honour to be the first Indian Women Cricketer to be inducted and join a galaxy of cricketers, male and female from across the world.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"I am delighted to be considered for this award. It's not only a proud moment for me, my family and friends but also for BCCI and Indian Women's Cricket.”</p>

<p>Former India cricketer Virender Sehwag said that England have always been a mediocre team except for their 2019 ODI World Cup win at home. Sehwag's statement comes after the defending champions were humiliated by Sri Lanka in an eight-wicket loss on October 26 in Bengaluru during the ODI World Cup 2023.&nbsp;</p>

<p>With England staring at an early exit in the ongoing tournament, Sehwag pointed out that England have made it to the last four in an ODI World Cup only once out of the last eight times. The former India cricketer also gave the reason for this, saying 'too much chopping and changing' and not having a steady side is what cost them.</p>

<p>England, after the early exit in the 2015 World Cup, went through a change and dominated the world cricket in limited-overs, winning the 2019 ODI World Cup as well as the 2022 T20I World Cup. <p>The loss against Sri Lanka was England's fourth in five games, leaving them second-last on the points table, just above the Netherlands. England have previously lost to New Zealand in the tournament opener before taking a thrashing from Afghanistan and South Africa as well.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Looking at the current picture, England are unlikely to make it to the semis and their white-ball coach Matthew Mott agrees.</p>

<p>"Mathematically, we'd have to have a lot of things go our way," Mott told Sky Sports after the game. "As I said leading up today, we could control it from there, but it certainly hasn't done our net run-rate any help at all and, depending on others," he added.</p>

Reacting to Vaughan's viral post on the microblogging site, former&nbsp;Indian opener Virender Sehwag reminded the Englishman of his national team's forgettable record in 50-over World Cups, where they have not made it to the semis in 1996, 1999, 2003, 2007, 2011, 2015 and also added 2023.</p>

At one stage, India were tottering at 2 for 3 before Kohli-Rahul's 165-run fourth-wicket stand propelled the home team to a convincing victory over the five-time World Cup winners.&nbsp;</p>

<p>After the match, former Indian opener Virender Sehwag hailed Kohli and KL Rahul. He, in particular, praised the No. 3 batter and stated that Kohli always performs on the big stage for the Men in Blue.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Speaking to Cricbuzz, Sehwag stated, "Both Virat Kohli and KL Rahul played exceptionally well. Their partnership was fantastic. 'Need to change my prediction': Sehwag removes England from his top 4 after their big loss in CWC '23 opener

<p>Former India cricketer Virender Sehwag was not impressed with the way Shubman Gill gave away his wicket in the second ODI against Australia on September 24 in Indore. Gill, who scored 104, got out in the 35th over of the innings as India plundered their way to 399/5 in 50 overs.</p>

<p>Sehwag, however, was of the opinion that Gill missed out on a bigger score. The former India opener, who has a double hundred to his name at the same venue, said he could have scored even 200 today (match day).&nbsp;</p>

<p>“He missed out last time but ensured that he got his hundred today, but I would still say that the form he is in he should have scored 160 or 180. He is now of just 25. Had he scored 200 today then he wouldn't have become tired and could have fielded as well. At 30, he would have found it difficult because he wouldn't have recovered. So it is better to score big runs now,” Sehwag said in a conversation with Cricbuzz.</p>
