Actor turned politician Vijay filed his nominations for the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections on Monday. Vijay also launched a fresh attack on DMK and stated that the state needed to be ‘saved’.

Vijay calls DMK an 'evil force' as he files nomination for assembly elections: We have to save Tamil Nadu

While revealing the candidates of his party, actor-politician Vijay announced that he will be contesting the Tamil Nadu polls from two constituencies: Perambur in Chennai and Trichy East. Vijay and his party TVK are making their political debut in the April 23rd Tamil Nadu polls, where their party is facing off against two major allainces: one led by the ruling DMK and another led by the Opposition AIADMK. Interestingly, Vijay's TVK has not tied up with any allies. At an event in Chennai, Vijay introduced his party's candidates and described them as "protectors of the people". Frontlining his vision for corruption-free governance, Vijay said that MLAs must not be using their experience to loot public funds; MLAs must not indulge in illegal quarrying and mining; MLAs must not attack or confront journalists for asking questions. An MLA is the protector of the people. I selected these candidates who will stand with the people and work at the ground level. I cant be everywhere everytime I personally selected the candidates - our brothers and sisters. I request the people to make them our MLAs, Vijay said."I am contesting in the polls only for the people and for public service... After winning, I will not misuse public funds, will not allow corruption, I will ensure women's safety, ensure Drug-free Tamil Nadu, work towards upkeep of Law and Order, will never indulge in anti-people activities," Vijay took oath along with his party's candidates. This is not an oath, this is our responsibility, he added.Continuing his strategy of portaying the Tamil Nadu polls as one between his TVK party and the MK Stalin-led DMK, Vijay said, "This is a battle between those who wish to wipe out corruption and those who are deeply engrossed in corruption; this is a battle between good and evil.""I left behind my luxuriious life and came into politics just for you... To pay me debt of gratitude... I am bearing all this pain, just for you...Will never lie and cheat you," Vijay said, making an emotional pitch to his supporters.

A day after he expressed regret over the remarks he made on Trisha, Parthiban accused the star of wrongly suggesting that he had deliberately orchestrated the episode in which her photograph was displayed during a rapid-fire segment at an awards function. In his latest video, the filmmaker-actor described Trisha’s X post as "third-rate" and referred to her as a "third-party woman".
What had Trisha posted?
On Monday, Trisha had alleged that her name and picture were added to an event's rapid-fire segment at the last minute at the request of an individual, conveyed through his assistant. "A microphone doesn't make a comment intelligent or humorous. It just makes stupidity louder. Crude words without knowledge say more about the speaker than the person they're aimed at," she had said, accusing Parthiban of making an offensive remark but without naming him.

Parthiban stirs controversy by labeling Trisha a 'third person' amid Vijay-Sangeetha divorce case

Tamil actor and Tamizhaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) leader Vijay has been courting controversy for the past few weeks thanks to his personal life. His wife, Sangeetha Sornalingam, filed for separation two weeks back after 25 years of marriage, alleging that the actor was having an affair with his colleague. Days later he was seen attending a wedding with actress Trisha Krishnan which added feul to the rumours about their alleged affair. Vijay’s personal life has come under the spotlight amid his foray into politics. During an event in Mamallapuram on International Women's Day, Vijay was seen making promises to women about introducing welfare programs while marking the important day Now, a member of his own party, Ranjana Nachiyar, who joined TVK about a year ago after leaving the BJP, has slammed the party chief's remarks and said that he should first respect his own family before making so many promises for women.
What Ranjana said about TVK leader Vijay
Speaking with news agency ANI, Ranjana said, “A leader should respect women. We all respect our leader Vijay, and we all hope that he will make a difference in the party, which will make a difference in Tamil Nadu and provide much more respect and equal space for women. But the statement he made during the Women's Day celebration yesterday… He told everyone that his wife had filed for a divorce. That is his personal matter, so we don't want to discuss it in the media, but this became viral because he said his wife is not worth it. Maybe his wife or his marriage life or anything it is, but the word 'its not worth it' made many people question what he meant. It does not show as a man that he respects his own wife. How can we believe that he will respect other women, the cadres, and people?” Also see: Vijay spotted at wedding with Trisha amid infidelity allegations
'I don't know how those women support this kind of nature'
She continued, “He gave manifesto for women but it is more important for him to protect his own family first. I don't know how those women support this kind of nature but I think I should not support this. Because a woman at home should be worshipped, his own wife delivered two kids. She was living with him for more than 25 years. So first of all he should respect his own family. That is more important than he becoming the leader of Tamil Nadu. I always support Vijay. I hope he changes these things. I wish he changes many things. He should solve his personal issues. Above all that, he shouldn’t set a bad trend for the Gen-Z kids. Bringing another actress to a wedding is a bad trend-setting. I don't think this is a positive thing for Vijay because people of Tamil Nadu have a lot of hope.”

'A woman should be worshipped': Vijay slammed by own party member amid divorce controversy

Amid the ongoing divorce proceedings of Vijay with his wife Sangeeta Sornalingam, rumours linking the Jana Nayagan actor with Trisha Krishnan has resurfaced on social media. Recently, filmmaker Vikram Bhatt reacted to the speculations, urged people not to interfere in the duo's personal lives.
Vikram Bhatt reacts
Taking to social media, Bhatt shared a note addressing the rumours around the two actors. "There has been a great deal of noise about the personal lives of Vijay and Trisha Krishnan. I do not know whether the rumours online are true or not. But if they are, then I feel compelled to say a few things," he said. "My recent incarceration has made me understand the value of freedom. What it is to crave a cup of tea that is not going to come. What it is to hunt for a tube of toothpaste. What it is to wait for seven in the evening, when the bail applications come in." Also Read: Vijay’s Jana Nayagan pushed further? I have been somebody’s fool, and I have been fooled. In other words, I have been there. Done that. Got the T-shirt. The human heart is fallible. It goes where it finds happiness. It came together to find happiness and its going away to find happiness."
Bhatt admires Vijay and Trisha
Speaking about the rumoured couple, Bhatt shared, "I find something admirable in Vijay and Trisha. There is dignity in not pretending that something does not exist. There is dignity in not hiding love as though it were something sinful." He further added, "We all know the other kind of life that people live. Men who run anonymous profiles on dating sites. Men who delete their messages before they get home. Men who spend afternoons with women they will never respect enough to acknowledge publicly. And yet it is often these very people who sit in judgment over others." Also Read: Trisha Krishnan fires back at actor-director Parthiban for 'kept at home' remark
