UP couple sentenced to death for abusing 33 minors, selling videos on dark web

A couple who had entered into a love marriage about five months ago were found hanging at their residence in the Fatehpur district of Uttar Pradesh. Following the incident, police suspected that both of them died by suicide within a short span of time, officials said on Friday.&nbsp;Police said the identified deceased, Amarjeet Kushwaha (30), a resident of Jafrabad village in the Bindki area, was discovered hanging in the bathroom of his rented house early on Thursday. His wife, Rekha Sonkar (25), informed the police after finding his body.&nbsp;However, before officers arrived at the scene, Rekha allegedly took her own life by hanging herself from an iron rod inside another room of the house. When police broke open the bathroom door and retrieved Amarjeet’s body, they found Rekha hanging elsewhere in the residence. She was immediately brought down, but was declared dead.&nbsp;Both of their deceased body have been sent for post-mortem, where a forensics team inspected the scene and collected evidence, Station House Officer (Bindki) Hemant Kumar Mishra said, news agency PTI reported.<h3>Families reportedly cut off all contact</h3>The SHO confirmed that the couple had been in a relationship for several months, against the wishes of their families. Later, they had solemnised their marriage about five months ago after running away secretly.&nbsp;After the marriage of Amarjeet and Rekha, both families reportedly cut off all contact with them. The pair initially stayed in Kanpur for a short period before returning to Bindki in January, where they took a rented house on Lalauli Road.&nbsp;Police said that in September 2024, when the man’s marriage was being planned with someone else, the woman had approached the police, prompting intervention and talks between the two families. However, neither side agreed to accept their relationship. They would contact people under the pretext of verification or inquiry. The initial investigation also revealed that several counterfeit stamps, letterheads, and copies of government symbols were found in their possession.&nbsp;The six arrested individuals were identified as Vibhansh, Aragya, Babul, Pintu Pal, Sampam Dal, and Ashish, all residents of Kolkata, Birbhum, and the 24 Parganas districts of West Bengal. Of these, four have completed Class 12, one holds a BA degree, and one has an LLB degree. Taking the matter seriously, the Central Zone Police have begun investigating the accused’s network and financial transactions. Further action is underway.&nbsp;

The Uttar Pradesh State Women’s Commission has put forth recommendations to improve women's safety in the Indian state. These proposals include measures such as preventing male tailors from taking women’s measurements and barring men from training women in gyms or yoga sessions.

The commission has also recommended that female security personnel should be placed on school buses. As per the commission's proposal, recruiting more female staff at women’s clothing stores will improve their&nbsp;safety.

These suggestions were presented in a meeting held on October 28 in Lucknow, where commission members explored various ways to improve women's safety, The Times of India reported.

Meanwhile, Shamli district probation officer Hamid Hussain has asked local businesses to start implementing new safety measures including hiring female trainers or instructors in gyms, drama, and yoga centres for women, as well as installing CCTV systems with DVRs.

Hussain told TOI that school buses will now need to have a female security guard or teacher. Meanwhile, boutiques are directed to hire female tailors to take measurements of women, with CCTV cameras in place for added security.

Police suspect suicide Police have suspected that the girls climbed the tree together and tied dupattas to the branch to hang themselves. "Prima facie, it seemed that the girls had done it by themselves. "We had returned from the temple at night, and then after some time, both the girls told me that they were going to the Temple for the program. I work at the farm, so I was tired and I slept that time. When the program finished at 12, I couldn't find the girls, I asked everyone I could and searched all over for them but couldn't find them," the man said. He said that he found out about the bodies when someone had gone to the farm on Tuesday morning and informed him. The father claimed that he thought that someone had murdered the girls and then hanged them afterwards. "I think that someone has killed them and then hanged them. But I don't have any enmity with anyone else," he further told the news agency. “So far, Rs 40 crore has been counted, of which there is no accounting. The remaining amount is being counted,”&nbsp;one official source&nbsp;was quoted as saying.

The IT department took action in Agra based on suspicion of suspected tax evasion and accumulation of disproportionate assets. The cash was found stashed in shoe boxes, mattresses and walls, said reports.

All three companies and their owners were not paying taxes duly, which seemingly triggered the raids by the IT department.
