Elon Musk launched a fresh wave of criticism against President Donald Trump’s sweeping tax and spending legislation on June 28, calling the Senate’s revised 940-page bill “utterly insane and destructive”. The Tesla and SpaceX CEO warned that the legislation would lead to “immense strategic harm” and cost millions of American jobs. “The latest Senate draft bill will destroy millions of jobs in America and cause immense strategic harm to our country!” Musk wrote on X. “It gives handouts to industries of the past while severely damaging industries of the future.”The Senate is working through the weekend in a race against time, as Republicans aim to pass the bill before Trump’s self-imposed Independence Day deadline. The newly released 940-page draft includes significant changes from the House version passed last month by a single vote. In a bid to satisfy budget rules and shore up wavering GOP (Grand Old Party) support, the updated bill features steeper cuts to Medicaid, reworked tax provisions, and modified timelines for phasing out clean energy subsidies.A central criticism of the bill, including from some Republicans, is its projected $3 trillion increase to the federal deficit over the next decade, as estimated by the Congressional Budget Office (CBO). While the GOP holds a majority in both chambers, the bill has sparked internal divisions, particularly over its deep spending cuts and subsidies for fossil fuel sectors, including a new credit for coal used in steel production.
Musk’s energy interests in the crosshairs
Musk’s criticism highlights the bill’s potential blow to clean energy sectors. The legislation includes provisions that would raise taxes on solar, battery, wind, geothermal, and nuclear energy projects, areas central to Tesla’s energy business. He warned that the bill would undermine America’s future industries while artificially propping up outdated sectors like coal. One controversial inclusion: a subsidy for coal used in steel production. Simultaneously, the Senate version proposes a gradual rollback of clean energy tax credits, offering reduced incentives through 2027 before eliminating them entirely in 2028.Tesla produces battery storage systems and solar photovoltaic solutions, and Musk warned the bill could cripple innovation just as global demand for clean tech is growing. “This is political suicide for the Republican Party,” he later added, warning of long-term consequences.
A feud rekindled
Musk’s remarks come just weeks after a public fallout with President Trump, sparked by the tech magnate’s earlier denunciation of the bill as a “disgusting abomination”. Musk, a major GOP donor who once led the now-defunct Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), briefly reconciled with Trump after walking back some of his harsher posts. However, the comments suggest renewed tensions. Musk previously threatened to withhold political donations and called out lawmakers who supported the legislation, accusing them of betraying the American public. In a particularly heated exchange earlier this month, Musk insinuated Trump was connected to disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein, an allegation made without evidence. While both parties had attempted to move past the dispute, it remains unclear whether Musk’s latest broadside will rupture the uneasy peace.
What else is inside the new draft?
The latest version includes a swathe of policy changes designed to appease various GOP factions:Social security tax breaks: The Senate bill enhances tax deductions for seniors, raising the amount from $4,000 (in the House version) to $6,000. However, these benefits taper off for higher-income individuals.Medicaid overhaul: The Senate draft imposes the strictest-ever work requirements on enrollees, including adults with children aged 15 and over. It also reduces provider taxes from 6 per cent to 3.5 per cent by 2031, although a $25 billion rural hospital fund was added to placate critics.SNAP restrictions: The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (food stamps) would see new work requirements for childless, able-bodied adults, and states would be required to contribute more funding.Overtime and tips tax relief: The Senate version retains the House’s promise to eliminate taxes on overtime pay and tips—a key Trump campaign pledge—but phases out the benefit for individuals earning over $150,000.Child tax credit: The Senate proposes a permanent increase to $2,200 (versus $2,500 in the House bill) and lowers eligibility thresholds by requiring only one parent to have a Social Security number.State and local tax (SALT) cap: To win over moderates, the cap on SALT deductions would rise from $10,000 to $40,000 for joint filers under $500,000 income, but only until 2030.
Activist backlash
Tesla shares fell 14 per cent following Musk’s initial attacks on the bill, as Trump hinted at reconsidering government contracts involving Musk’s companies. Meanwhile, activist groups organised “anti-celebration” protests on Musk’s 54th birthday, condemning his links to the Trump administration and far-right political elements in Europe.Democrats, though largely sidelined in the process, have lambasted the bill. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries labelled it a “reckless, regressive and reprehensible GOP tax scam” and vowed to use it as campaign fodder in next year’s midterms.Trump, meanwhile, has taken to social media to push for swift passage: “It’s time for our friends in the United States Senate to get to work and send this bill to my desk as soon as possible!”

Elon Musk slams Trump’s ‘Big, Beautiful Bill’ as Senate vote nears

Iran could begin enriching uranium again "in a matter of months," despite the damage to its nuclear facilities from recent US and Israeli airstrikes, the head of the UN's atomic watchdog said on Saturday (Jun 28). In an interview, Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), said Iran retained the capacity to resume parts of its nuclear programme sooner than many expected. Even as US President Donald Trump and his administration continue to claim that Iran's nuclear sites were "obliterated" and its programme set back by "decades", Grossi in an ominous warning said "some is still standing" and that Tehran could be producing enriched uranium soon.
IAEA chief's warning
Speaking during an interview with CBS News, Rafael Grossi said that Iran "can have, you know, in a matter of months, I would say, a few cascades of centrifuges spinning and producing enriched uranium, or less than that".His remarks cast doubt on US President Donald Trump's repeated assertions that Iran's nuclear ambitions had been set back decades by the June 22 bombings, in which the US struck three Iranian sites: Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan. Those strikes followed Israel's air campaign that began on June 13, targeting a dozen Iranian military and nuclear-related sites.Trump said the US attack, dubbed "Operation Midnight Hammer," used "bunker buster" bombs to obliterate Iran's underground enrichment infrastructure. So there has to be at some point a clarification," he added. His statement comes as Iranian lawmakers have voted to suspend cooperation with the IAEA, and Tehran has denied Grossi's request to inspect the bombed sites, particularly Fordow — the main uranium enrichment facility."We need to be in a position to ascertain, to confirm what is there, and where is it and what happened," noted Grossi.
US backs IAEA's critical verification need
Even as Grossi voiced uncertainty regarding claims that Iran moved its enriched uranium stockpile before US strikes, Trump denied that such a thing could happen. In an interview with Fox News, the POTUS insisted, "It's a very hard thing to do plus we didn't give much notice...They didn't move anything."Meanwhile, Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Saturday expressed firm backing for the IAEA and its leadership amid threats from hardline Iranian lawmakers who have called for Grossi's arrest or even execution.Underscoring Washington's support for "the IAEA's critical verification and monitoring efforts in Iran," he commended Grossi and his team for their "dedication and professionalism.""Calls in Iran for the arrest and execution of IAEA Director General Grossi are unacceptable and should be condemned," he added.

The US Supreme Court decision on Thursday (June 26) gave a major boost to the nation's Grand Old Party as it pushes to enforce the Executive Order to end birthright citizenship. It limited the power of lower courts to issue nationwide injunctions, a legal tool earlier used by the courts to limit enforcement. However, this does not solidify the attempt of the Trump administration to scrap birthright citizenship; it only means that the executive order will be revisited in the lower court again. So the ultimate fate of the policy remains uncertain.
What is Birthright Citizenship?
"All persons born or naturalised in the United States and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States,” 14th Amendment to the US Constitution. It grants automatic citizenship to the children born within the US jurisdiction. This was done especially to ensure that Black people, including former slaves, had citizenship.
What is the Executive Order?
Executive Order 14160, signed by US President Donald Trump, aims to end automatic citizenship granted to the children born in the US to undocumented migrants and temporary visa holders. Multiple lower courts quickly issued injunctions to block the order. However, Thursday's Supreme Court ruling limits the scope of such injections issued by the lower courts.
What is next?
Democratic leader Chuck Schumer wrote in a post on X, “an unprecedented and terrifying step toward authoritarianism, a grave danger to our democracy, and a predictable move from this extremist MAGA court.”Trump called it a “monumental victory for the Constitution," the separation of powers and the rule of law. The Justices agreed that courts were issuing orders that overreach to everyone instead of the parties involved in the court. There had been 40 such orders since Trump took office for his second term. The court's ruling gives a 30-day grace period for the enforcement of the policy. It is up to the lower courts how they interpret the ruling and tailor their orders to comply with it. But jurisdictions without any active challenge will be able to enforce the policy. Justice Sonia Sotomayor, a liberal Justice of the Supreme Court, warns that this justice will result in a patchwork of citizenship. This will lead to a “fractured identity of citizenship” between the 22 states that sued and the rest of the country. So the rights of a newborn will vary within the country depending on the zip code.

Following Thursday's ruling of the Supreme Court Trump administration has received a major boost in its attempt to enforce the Executive Order to end birthright citizenship in America. But the ultimate fate of the policy remains uncertain.

Multiple lower courts quickly issued injunctions to block the order. However, Thursday's Supreme Court ruling limits the scope of such injections issued by the lower courts. What is next? Democratic leader Chuck Schumer wrote in a post on X, “an unprecedented and terrifying step toward authoritarianism, a grave danger to our democracy, and a predictable move from this extremist MAGA court.” Trump called it a “monumental victory for the Constitution," the separation of powers and the rule of law.

What does Supreme Court ruling mean for the birthright citizenship in America?

Russian President Vladimir Putin has signalled a shift in Moscow’s military spending strategy, announcing a planned cut in defence expenditure from next year. The statement, made during a press conference in Minsk, comes as NATO member states move in the opposite direction, agreeing to raise collective defence spending to 5 per cent of GDP by 2035. The US Senate on Friday (Jun 27) narrowly blocked an effort to curb President Donald Trump's authority to launch further military action against Iran without congressional approval. This comes just days after he ordered airstrikes targeting Tehran's nuclear programme. The vote on the war powers' resolution, as per reports, failed 47-53, falling just short of the 51 votes required for passage. The voting was largely along party lines, with only a few notable defections. The resolution sought to reassert Congress's constitutional role in decisions of war and peace.
Trump's war powers remain in place
Reports suggest that Republican Senator Rand Paul broke ranks to support the measure curbing Trump's war powers, while Democrat John Fetterman, a vocal supporter of Israel, sided with Republicans in Trump's support. Ahead of the vote tally, Senator Tim Kaine, the democrat who introduced the resolution, told the Senate, "I think the events of this week have demonstrated that war is too big to be consigned to the decisions of any one person."Trump, meanwhile, made clear on Friday that he would not hesitate to order more strikes if future intelligence suggests Iran was resuming uranium enrichment at levels of concern."Sure, without question, absolutely," Trump said during a press briefing, when asked about the possibility of a second wave of bombings.
Tensions over strike transparency
The resolution came amid growing frustration from Democrats, many of whom said they were briefed by administration officials on the recent Iran strikes but not given meaningful details—like target locations or intelligence justifications.Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer told reporters he had received advance notice that a strike was imminent but said officials refused to disclose the operational specifics.Meanwhile, questions continue to swirl around President Trump's claim that the Iranian nuclear facilities targeted in the strikes were "completely destroyed." A preliminary classified assessment, leaked to the press, reportedly found that while the bombings caused significant damage, they may have only delayed Iran's nuclear program by a few months. After a classified Senate briefing on Thursday, lawmakers said they were still waiting for a clearer picture."The point is: We don’t know," said Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) after the briefing. "Anybody who says we know with certainty is making it up because we have no final battle damage assessment.""Certainly, this mission was successful insofar as it extensively destroyed and perhaps severely damaged and set back the Iranian nuclear arms program. But how long and how much really remains to be determined by the intelligence community itself," he added.

On a stage meant to uphold the ideals of transparency and truth, the White House press briefing room has long been a symbol of America’s commitment to a free press. But on Thursday morning (June 26), that symbol took a hit. White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt made headlines not for policy clarifications or presidential announcements, but for publicly questioning the journalistic integrity of CNN national security reporter Natasha Bertrand. In doing so, Leavitt didn’t just single out a reporter—she triggered a deeper debate about where the line lies between government accountability and institutional intimidation of the press.
The incident
During the press briefing on Thursday (June 26), Leavitt launched a pointed attack on Bertrand, criticising her past reporting. During the briefing, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt also called out CNN reporter Natasha Bertrand. She said, “This is a reporter who has been used by people who dislike Donald Trump to push fake and false narrative. She should be ashamed of herself. And that's not what reporting is. That's not what reporting is. Journalism is trying to find the facts and the truth.” It’s not the first time a government official has taken issue with a reporter’s work, but the context matters. This wasn’t a private complaint or an offhand remark. It was a public rebuke from the White House podium—arguably the most powerful communications platform in the country—against a journalist from one of the nation’s largest networks.
The bigger picture
While Leavitt’s comments may have played well to certain partisan audiences who view mainstream media as inherently biased, they also represent something more troubling: the normalisation of public officials attacking individual reporters by name. In democracies, government and media are expected to operate in tension—each holding the other accountable. But when that tension devolves into targeted delegitimisation, we inch toward a dangerous erosion of democratic norms. Natasha Bertrand, who has reported extensively on intelligence and national security, is no stranger to controversy or criticism. But what distinguishes this episode is the public nature of the condemnation—and the power imbalance behind it. When someone in Leavitt’s position calls out a journalist during an official briefing, the chilling effect goes far beyond the individual. It sends a message to the broader press corps: tread carefully, or be next.
Is this justified scrutiny or institutional pressure?
Some may argue that calling out perceived media bias is fair game—after all, journalists aren’t above criticism. But that defense misses the point. The issue here isn’t whether reporters should be held accountable. They absolutely should. The question is: Who gets to do that, and how? There are mechanisms for challenging inaccurate reporting—editorial rebuttals, fact-checks, ombudsman reviews, or even interviews to set the record straight. What shouldn't happen is the use of an official government pulpit to discredit specific journalists, especially those involved in covering sensitive political or security matters. In this case, Leavitt’s attack on Bertrand wasn’t an offhand deflection. It was a deliberate attempt to question her credibility. The political optics are hard to ignore.
A pattern worth watching
This isn’t an isolated incident. Around the world, governments that wish to avoid scrutiny often begin by undermining the credibility of the press. We’ve seen this playbook before—in Russia, Turkey, Hungary, and elsewhere. Discredit the journalist, question the platform, and soon, the public no longer trusts any version of the truth but the one they’re handed. In the US, press freedom is protected by the First Amendment, but legal protections mean little if public trust in journalism is steadily corroded by attacks from the highest levels of power.
The line we cannot cross
The freedom of the press is not just about protecting journalists from censorship—it’s about ensuring that no public official can dictate which questions are valid or which messengers are allowed to ask them. Karoline Leavitt may believe she was defending the administration from media bias. But in doing so from the podium of the White House press room, she stepped into territory where free societies should never feel comfortable: where the government judges the legitimacy of the press. In the end, the story isn’t about Bertrand alone. It’s about the signal this moment sends. If calling out a journalist by name becomes normalised from the highest office in the land, then the next reporter may hesitate before asking the uncomfortable question—and that, more than any partisan debate, is the real threat to democracy. (Disclaimer: The views of the writer do not represent the views of WION or ZMCL. While American B-2 bombers streak across Iran, bombing facilities related to Tehran's nuclear ambitions, policymakers and experts in East Asia were already preoccupied with a key question: What message does this send to North Korea, a nation whose nuclear program is much more advanced than that of Iran? Experts warn that Washington's military interventions might make Pyongyang more determined to step up its weapons program and expand coordination with Russia, as well as harden its leader Kim Jong Un's conviction that nuclear weapons are the ultimate defense against US-enforced regime change. Even after years of attempts to dissuade North Korea from keeping its nuclear weapons program, the Kim regime is believed to have several nuclear weapons, along with missiles capable of reaching the United States – thus, any potential military attack on the Korean Peninsula would have immensely greater risks. President Trump's attack on Iran's nuclear facilities will inevitably further strengthen the legitimacy of North Korea's long-held policy of regime survival and nuclear armament," Lim Eul-chul, a professor of North Korean studies at South Korea's Kyungnam University was quoted saying to CNN. "North Korea views the recent US air strike as a preemptive military attack and will probably speed up efforts to improve its own preemptive nuclear missile capability," added Lim. That speed, experts warn, might be delivered by way of Russian support, as a result of an emerging military romance the two neighbors have embarked upon since Moscow invaded Ukraine. Since it was formally established in 2024, North Korea's strategic alliance with Russia has emerged as a very important economic and military lifeline for Pyongyang in the face of continuing Western sanctions. "Under the strategic partnership with Russia, Pyongyang will tend to proceed to cooperative weapons development, cooperative military drills, technology exchange, and increased mutual interdependence in economic and military areas," Lim explained. North Korea has dispatched over 14,000 troops and millions of ammunition, including missiles and rockets, to support Russia's invasion, says a report by the Multilateral Sanctions Monitoring Team (MSMT), a program composed of 11 United Nations members. Russia has returned the favour by supplying North Korea with diverse precious pieces of weaponry and technology, such as air defense systems, anti-aircraft missiles, electronic warfare capabilities and refined petroleum. These activities "enables North Korea to finance its military projects and continue to expand its ballistic missiles programmes, which are themselves illegal under several (UN Security Council resolutions), and acquire first-hand exposure to contemporary warfare," the study showed. In Kim's view, recent US military intervention in Iran is following a disturbing pattern of logic: countries without nuclear power, from Iraq and Libya to Iran, are susceptible to US intervention, Victor Cha, Korea chair at the Center for Strategic and International Studies was quoted saying to CNN. North Korea, having now tested six nuclear devices and built long-range missiles, regards its arsenal as non-negotiable. As described by Cha, Washington's attacks against Tehran's nuclear facilities will certainly make an indelible mark on the Kim regime. "The strikes against Iran will only reinforce two things for North Korea, neither one of which plays well for US policy," he said. "One: the US has no use-of-force alternative for North Korea's nuclear program like they did with Israel and Iran. Two: the attack only confirms in Kim Jong Un's mind his commitment to continue seeking and having a nuclear arsenal." And the difference between Iran and North Korea is dramatic, especially when it comes to nuclear weapons. Iran, on the other hand, has not yet produced a deliverable nuclear weapon and its uranium enrichment had still fallen below the level for weaponisation, the International Atomic Energy Agency's most recent estimate said. It had also engaged in years of diplomatic efforts with the US and Western nations regarding its nuclear program, diplomacy that was ostensibly still active when Trump authorised B-2 stealth bombers to release "bunker busting" bombs on Iran's nuclear sites. North Korea is estimated to have between 40 and 50 warheads, as well as the capability to deliver them throughout the region and possibly even to the US mainland.

Trump’s Iran strike sends chilling signal to nuclear-armed North Korea. What's next for Kim Jong Un?

The White House has found a new way to keep the humour intact after the United States President Donald Trump was called ‘Daddy’ by NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte. The White House on Friday (June 27) posted a video showing a T-shirt design with Trump photo and ‘Daddy Home’ written in the background. The video had ‘Daddy Home’ track by Usher added to it. Trump's ‘Daddy’ saga began when Mark Rutte said that Trump behaved like a 'Daddy' in dealing with Iran and Israel. Rutte's remark was in response to Trump's usual comparison of Iran and Israel as “two school kids.”

America’s back. Daddy’s home. pic.twitter.com/dmhpC5YRDm— The White House (@WhiteHouse) June 27, 2025

How ‘Daddy’ saga began and how is it going?
Ahead of boarding Air Force One to attend the NATO Summit in the Netherlands, Trump asked about violation of ceasefire by Israel and Iran. He angrily answered, "The two countries have been fighting so long and so hard that they don't know what the fuck they're doing, do you understand that?" Trump on June 24 declared that a ceasefire had been agreed between Israel and Iran and war had stopped, but both countries violated it soon after his announcement and fired missiles at each other. This was a major upset for Trump, who warned Israel against bombing Iran and lost his cool in front of reporters.

Don’t mess with Trump. Very harsh words for Israel (and Iran). The F bomb comment is probably the most accurate statement about this conflict that I have ever heard. pic.twitter.com/f7xDIfNa9H— Crowder CEO (@GmorganJr) June 24, 2025

During a conversation with Mark Rutte in the Netherlands on the sidelines of the NATO Summit, Trump was asked by him about Iran and Israel. Trump compared the West Asian adversaries to “two kids in a school yard” who “fight like hell". He added, "You know, they fight like hell. You can't stop them. Let them fight for about two, three minutes, then it's easier to stop." Rutte interjected, laughing: “And then daddy has to sometimes use strong language to get them to stop,” referring to Trump's usage of the F-word. Trump laughed at Rutte's remark and said, “Everyone said 'Well, you have to use a certain word.”

NEW: Secretary General of NATO Mark Rutte refers to President Trump as ‘Daddy’ while Trump was talking about Israel & Iran’s peace deal. Trump: They had a big fight. Like two kids in a schoolyard. Let them fight for about two minutes. Then it's easier to stop them. Rutte: And… pic.twitter.com/dpG7C7bakY— Collin Rugg (@CollinRugg) June 25, 2025

Later, during a press briefing, a Sky News reporter asked Trump whether he saw NATO allies as his children in light of the nickname given by Rutte. Trump smiled at the question while Secretary of State Marco Rubio chuckled while standing behind him. "No, he likes me. I think he likes me. If he doesn't, I'll let you know. I'll come back and I'll hit him hard, OK…He did it very affectionately though, ‘Daddy, you’re my daddy,'” Trump said.

However, Rutte, during an interaction with Reuters, denied calling Trump ‘daddy’ while he praised the US president for his role in the Iran-Israel conflict. "In Europe, I sometimes hear countries say, 'Hey Mark, will the US stay with us?' and I said that sounds a bit like a small child asking his daddy, 'Are you still staying with the family?'" he said. “In that sense, I used the word 'daddy.' I was not calling President Trump that.” When asked whether this analogy implied that other NATO members are like children who are only now maturing, Rutte responded that they have already grown up but now recognise the need to take on greater responsibility. The White House appeared to lean into the humour, posting a playful edit of the moment on X (formerly Twitter). They shared the video of President Donald Trump at the NATO summit, set to the tune of Usher’s Daddy’s Home. Within minutes, “Daddy” became the internet’s favourite new moniker for Trump.

Interestingly, this is not the first time Trump has been called ‘Daddy’. In a 2023 interview with former Fox News host Tucker Carlson, golfer John Daly said he and fellow golfers “want Daddy Trump back.” Trump posted about the reference on Truth Social at the time and again a few months later. Daly has said he has called Trump “daddy” since the two met in 1992.

Donald Trump loves to give nicknames. However, after the recently held NATO Summit, he seems to be embracing one - ‘Daddy’. The White House is going gaga over it: Here's how it began and how it is going

Now, as Trump teases a deal with India, not too long ago on May 28, his administration had urged a New York court against blocking or pausing the tariff order, as they believed it may disrupt the global order, which includes reigniting India-Pakistan tensions. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick had said to the court, "Both sides agreed to stop their military actions only after Donald Trump offered to expand trade with the countries in exchange for it.” Also read: From 'Trump card' to 'trade deal soon': Trump's commerce secy reflects on US-India ties amid deportations, tariff war As Trump assumed office for his second term earlier this year, he was certain to cut down on wasteful government spending and impose trade tariffs on countries dealing with the US. White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller made a large financial investment in Palantir, a tech company that could make millions of dollars under US President Donald Trump's hardline immigration policies, said watchdog group Project on Government Oversight. Palantir plays a substantial role in the work of US immigration officials. Since Miller works closely with the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) department, his investment in the firm is raising red flags. According to Miller’s public financial disclosure report, he owns between $100,001 and $250,000 in assets at the company. However, he enacted his plan to ramp up immigration enforcement sometime before. Last month, the Trump administration tapped Palantir to build a massive system that would allow federal agencies to share their data with each other in a better manner. White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt addressed the reporters on Thursday (June 26). During the briefing Karoline revealed the time when Iran, Israel and US agreed on the same thing. There was ‘no indication to the United States that any of that enriched uranium was moved prior to the strike’ on Saturday (June 21), which had targeted three Iranian nuclear sites,” she added. Karoline went on to say that, "The contrast in leadership could not be more clear. Barack Obama and Joe Biden sent pallets of cash, American taxpayer dollars, in a failed attempt to buy the Iranian regime's compliance with a weak and ineffective deal. President Trump sent a fleet of American warplanes to destroy Iran's ability to produce a nuclear weapon. We see a new era in which perhaps some of these Gulf and Arab states can sign on to the Abraham Accords," she added. On being asked about the 'One Big Beautiful Bill', Karoline replied saying, “We expect that bill to be on the president's desk for signature by July 4th.”

'You've been the worst!': Hegseth explodes at Fox journalist during Israel-Iran war briefing - Here's how it went

Moments after United States Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth and Gen. Dan Caine, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, addressed the media on Thursday morning (June 26) at the Pentagon on the strikes on Iran, US President Donald Trump posted on Truth Social saying, “One of the greatest, most professional, and most “confirming” News Conferences I have ever seen! The Fake News should fire everyone involved in this Witch Hunt, and apologize to our great warriors, and everyone else!” He further added, “The cars and small trucks at the site were those of concrete workers trying to cover up the top of the shafts. Nothing was taken out of facility. Would take too long, too dangerous, and very heavy and hard to move!”

Speaking to the reporters, Hegseth said, “Strikes in Iran were highly successful, it was a resounding success and brought the end of the war. Trump created the conditions to end war destroying Iran's nuclear capabilities. What other presidents talked about, President Trump achieved. This is a historic moment." “Leaked preliminary report is based on lynchpin assumptions. Rafael Grossi also said that US strikes caused enormous damage. This is a historically successful mission." “32 NATO countries committed to spending 5%, historic change in continental security. One of the greatest most confirming news conferences Trump after Hegseth addresses media on Iran strikes

'One of the greatest, most confirming news conferences': Trump after Hegseth addresses media on Iran strikes

United States Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth and Gen. Dan Caine, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, addressed the media on Thursday morning (June 26) at the Pentagon on the strikes on Iran. What President Trump achieved at NATO yesterday was groundbreaking,” he further added. Meanwhile, Gen. Dan Caine said, “We received intel on Monday that Iran intended to attack US bases in the region. Patriot cruise were deployed from Korea and Japan. We were joined in this engagement with Qatari Patriot cruise. In the days preceding the fordo attacks Iranians tried to cover the shafts with concrete." The Trump administration has been resolute that its strikes on three nuclear facilities on Saturday (June 21 ) in Iran were a success. Several media outlets have reported that a preliminary intelligence assessment found the bombings delayed Iran’s nuclear program by only a few months. President Trump and his cabinet have insisted the sites were “obliterated” and “destroyed”. Donald Trump's two top executives, on Wednesday (Jun 25) at the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) summit in The Hague, confirmed that a bombshell US intelligence report on Iran airstrikes was, in fact, leaked. They then quickly pivoted to denouncing the people behind the leak, calling the move politically motivated and demanding accountability. Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth and Secretary of State Marco Rubio assumed an aggressive counteroffensive against the leaked preliminary Pentagon report that said that US strikes on Iranian nuclear sites only set the nation's nuclear programme back by a few months. Confirming the bombshell leak, Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, speaking at a NATO summit in the Netherlands alongside US President Donald Trump, sought to downplay the contents of the preliminary Pentagon assessment. While Trump continues to insist that the strikes caused a "total obliteration" of Iran’s nuclear capabilities, the leak, first reported by CNN and The New York Times, suggested that the underground facilities had survived the attack, with entrances sealed but no collapse of the critical subterranean infrastructure. Furthermore, the intel estimated that the damage had only caused a few months' setback to Iran's programme and not years, as Trump claimed. At the press conference, Hegseth accused unnamed insiders of leaking the report for political purposes and revealed that an FBI-led investigation was underway. "We are doing a leak investigation with the FBI now because this information is for internal purposes—battle damage investigation—and CNN and others are trying to spin it to try and make the president look bad when this was an overwhelming success," he said. He defended the precision and power of the operation, saying that "When you talk to the people who built the bombs, understand what those bombs can do, and deliver those bombs, they landed precisely where they were supposed to." Hegseth claimed the Fordow facility, buried deep within a mountain, suffered "devastation," thanks to the "30,000 pounds of explosives", even as early assessments described the damage as "moderate to severe." Trump also conceded that the report was "correct" but lashed out at the press over the leaked report, singling out outlets by name. "CNN is scum, MSDNC is scum, the New York Times is scum," he told reporters. "They're bad people, they’re sick." “What they've done is they’ve tried to make this unbelievable victory into something less,” he said, insisting that the report's interpretation was off. Painting the reports as a way to get ratings, he added, ”The generals and all of the people who did a good job, they get demeaned by these idiots at CNN, who can't get ratings. The place is dying, nobody even wants to waste their time going on any of their shows, so they form what [sic] The New York Times, which is dying also. 'HISTORICALLY SUCCESSFUL MISSION', says Pete Hegseth on Iran strikes

India has repeatedly rejected the establishment of foreign military bases on its soil, including those of the United States of America, despite their growing defence partnership. This position stems from India’s longstanding commitment to strategic autonomy, a doctrine rooted in its post-colonial experience and non-aligned foreign policy. From Nehru to Modi, Indian leaders have maintained a clear stance that sovereignty must not be diluted by the permanent presence of foreign troops, regardless of diplomatic ties or logistical agreements. Unlike other smaller nations that accept US bases for added security, India views such arrangements as incompatible with its military self-sufficiency.
India's military capability
India’s military capabilities, ranging from nuclear deterrence to a large standing army and expanding naval and cyber assets, provide sufficient strategic depth. Instead of hosting foreign bases, India has opted for defence cooperation through limited-access agreements. Deals like LEMOA allow the US to refuel and restock at Indian facilities during joint operations or emergencies, but they do not permit basing rights. This arrangement further enables operational collaboration without compromising sovereignty. Hosting a US base in the country would also carry regional consequences, including potential friction with China and Russia. Moreover, several historical incidents, from the US Navy’s 7th Fleet sailing toward India in the 1971 liberation war to American opposition to India’s nuclear programme, might have fostered a cautious attitude in New Delhi toward US military intentions.
Risks, Ramifications, and Alternative Pathways
The absence of US bases in India is not merely a reflection of India’s position, but it also suits our current US strategic requirements. With extensive facilities in Diego Garcia, Qatar, Japan, and Singapore, the Pentagon has ample reach across the Indo-Pacific and Indian Ocean regions. From India’s perspective, allowing a base would invite geopolitical liabilities without tangible strategic gains. The recent missile strike on Al Udeid base in Qatar, during the Israel-Iran conflict, highlights the risks of becoming a target by hosting foreign forces. India seeks to avoid being drawn into conflicts unrelated to its national interest.Despite having closer ties through QUAD and joint military exercises like Malabar, New Delhi remains cautious. The concerns over potential disruption to long-standing partnerships, especially with Russia and past US policy decisions further strengthen India’s reluctance. In short, India’s refusal to host US military bases is a deliberate, calculated policy choice, and not an oversight or gap in the bilateral relationship.

US President Donald Trump seems to be liking his new nickname - 'Daddy'! The White House has just dropped a one-minute video showing Trump’s arrival and interactions at the NATO summit set to the background track Daddy's Home by Usher. It all began when NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said that Trump behaved like a 'Daddy' in dealing with Iran and Israel. Rutte's remark was in response to Trump's usual comparison of Iran and Israel as “two school kids fighting.”

🎶 Daddy’s home… Hey, hey, hey, Daddy. President Donald J. "They've had a big fight, like two kids in a schoolyard," Trump said, referring to Israel and Iran. "You know, they fight like hell. You can't stop them. Let them fight for about two, three minutes, then it's easier to stop." To that, Rutte responded: "And then Daddy has to sometimes use strong language," referring to Trump's usage of the F-word after Israel and Iran violated the ceasefire. Trump laughed at Rutte's remark and said, "Everyone said 'Well, you have to use a certain word." Ahead of boarding Air Force One to attend the NATO Summit in the Netherlands, Trump angrily said, when asked about violation of ceasefire by Israel and Iran, "The two countries have been fighting so long and so hard that they don't know what the fuck they're doing, do you understand that?" Trump on June 24 declared that a ceasefire had been agreed between Israel and Iran and war had stopped, but both countries violated it soon after Trump's announcement and fired missiles at each other. This was a major upset for Trump, who angrily warned Israel against bombing Iran and lost his cool in front of reporters.
‘Daddy’ remark doesn't stop!
During a press interaction on the sidelines of the NATO Summit, Trump was asked about Rutte's 'Daddy' remark, to which Trump responded, "He did it very affectionately," Trump said. "Daddy, you're my daddy." Meanwhile, NATO Secretary General Rutte said he was not calling President Trump “daddy,” and the remark was a metaphor for US leadership. In an interview with Reuters, Rutte explained the context. He said, "And I said, that sounds a little bit like a small child asking his daddy, 'Hey, are you still staying with the family?' So, in that sense, I used 'daddy,' not that I was calling President Trump daddy." When asked if he was overpraising Trump to keep him happy amid ongoing complaints about NATO’s dependence on US support, Rutte said he didn't think so. "I think it's a bit of a question of taste," he remarked. Rutte called Trump a "good friend" of more than ten years, adding that he deserves the credit.

United States President Donald Trump has gone from stating 2016 Iran Nuclear Deal “the stupidest deal of all time” to "e're oing to talk to them next week". While the previous remark was made by Trump in 2017 when he entered the White House for the first time, his latest remark comes in the aftermath of the Iran-Israel war. Trump has largely been known for his approach of 'isolation' to achieve his goal of 'America First.' While he continues to spread the same goal in his second term, his willingness to strike a deal with West Asian nations, including Iran, has not only surprised his critics but also his own MAGA base.
Here we look at how Trump's approach to Iran has changed over the years
1. During first term as President (2017–2021) Trump began his presidency by withdrawing from the Iran nuclear deal (Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action) in 2018, calling it “a horrible, one-sided deal that should have never, ever been made.” He then reinstated heavy sanctions on Iran’s economy, especially targeting oil exports, banking, and the Revolutionary Guard. His rhetoric was consistently aggressive, including statements like “If Iran wants to fight, that will be the official end of Iran” (May 2019). One of the most provocative moments came in January 2020, when he ordered a drone strike that killed top Iranian general Qassem Soleimani, igniting fears of a full-scale war. He then justified his move saying, “We took action to stop a war… not to start one.” 2. Post-Presidency and Early 2024 Campaign Following his presidency, Trump’s tone cooled somewhat, focusing more on contrasting his approach with that of President Biden. In campaign speeches, he framed his first-term Iran policy as a deterrent success, claiming things were under control because Iran “wouldn’t even think of enriching uranium if I were in the White House.” While still critical of Iran, the emphasis shifted from threats to pointing out his record of strength and containment. https://www.wionews.com/videos/trump-says-china-can-buy-iranian-oil-undermines-years-of-sanctions-on-iran-1750913535553/embed 3. Shift in tone in the second term as president By mid-2025, Trump’s position became more nuanced - hinting that if Trump doesn't want Iran as a friend, he doesn't want it as a foe either. After a fragile ceasefire between Israel and Iran, Trump told Israel to “stop dropping bombs” on Iran, marking a rare moment of assertiveness toward a traditional US ally. At the same time, he publicly stated, “China can now continue to purchase oil from Iran”, suggesting a possible softening of US sanctions enforcement. It also suggested that Trump wants Iran to continue their business despite the tensions in the region - a stance that has even shocked his MAGA base. While some say that Trump's statement is to stabilize global oil prices and leveraging trade dynamics with China, his comment that Iran's Supreme Leader would not be killed and that he doesnt want a “regime change” in Iran certainly hints at a change in discourse. He also made a striking remark at a NATO briefing: “They’re going to need money to put that country back into shape. We want to see that happen” - representing a notable shift from his earlier goal of total economic isolation for Iran. While the US president continues to frame Iran as a threat and has also said during the NATO Summit that he does not care about the agreement, and his goal is simple - "Iran should not have nuclear," his current stance is a focus on diplomacy and business and not assertive. He seems to be using war and strength to bring business deals in what may be called - a Trumpian diplomacy.

From 'horrible, one-sided' deal to seeking new nuclear agreement: How Trump’s Iran stance has FLIPPED over the years

Indian-American Zohran Mamdani declared victory in New York City’s Democratic mayoral primary on Tuesday night (June 25) after former Governor Andrew Cuomo conceded defeat. Even as Mamdani's final victory is awaited, US President Donald Trump slammed him and described his looks as ‘terrible’ and his voive ‘grating.’ In two posts on Truth Social, the US president not only criticised Mamdani but also Democratic leaders including Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez - who serves as US representative for New York's 14th congressional district. Trump also called Mamdani ‘100% communist lunatic.’ “Zohran Mamdani, a 100% Communist Lunatic, has just won the Dem Primary, and is on his way to becoming Mayor. We’ve had Radical Lefties before, but this is getting a little ridiculous. He looks TERRIBLE, his voice is grating, he’s not very smart, he’s got AOC+3, Dummies ALL, backing him, and even our Great Palestinian Senator, Cryin’ Chuck Schumer, is groveling over him,” Trump said, adding in a sarcastic remark at the end - “Yes, this is a big moment in the History of our Country!”

Further, criticising Democrats, Trump said that they should nominate Jasmine Crockett - whom he termed “Low IQ Candidate” for President and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Rep. Ilhan Omar as Vice President, along with Mamdani - who will soon be New York Mayor. Trump declared that "the country is really screwed," poking fun at Democrats and expressing frustration over Mamdani's victory. “I have an idea for the Democrats to bring them back into “play.” After years of being left out in the cold, including suffering one of the Greatest Losses in History, the 2024 Presidential Election, the Democrats should nominate Low IQ Candidate, Jasmine Crockett, for President, and AOC+3 should be, respectively, Vice President, and three High Level Members of the Cabinet – Added together with our future Communist Mayor of New York City, Zohran Mamdani, and our Country is really SCREWED!”

Who is Zohran Mamdani?
Zohran Kwame Mamdani was born in Kampala, Uganda, but was brought up with his family in New York City, USA, at the age of 7. He attended the Bronx High School of Science and later earned a degree in Africana Studies from Bowdoin College, where he co-founded the campus chapter of Students for Justice in Palestine. Mamdani and his wife, 27-year-old Brooklyn-based Syrian artist Rama Duwaji, met on the dating app Hinge. His mother, Mira Nair, is a celebrated film director and his father Professor Mahmood Mamdani, teaches at Columbia. Both of them are Harvard alumni. Mamdani's unique campaign went viral on social media and got the world talking as he spoke directly to the New York city’s massive South Asian population through a language they understood deeply: Bollywood - using pop culture refrences, iconic songs, etc. Senator Bernie Sanders hailed Mamdani’s win, saying, “You took on the political, economic and media establishment, and you beat them.” At his victory party in Queens, Mamdani quoted Nelson Mandela, saying, “It always seems impossible until it’s done. My friends, it is done.” Even Cuomo, conceding with grace, said, “Tonight is his night. He deserved it. He won.”

We’ve had Radical Lefties before, but this is getting a little ridiculous. He looks TERRIBLE, his voice is grating, he’s not very smart, he’s got AOC+3, Dummies ALL, backing him, and even our Great Palestinian Senator, Cryin’ Chuck Schumer, is groveling over him,” Trump said, adding in a sarcastic remark at the end - “Yes, this is a big moment in the History of our Country!” Further, criticising Democrats, Trump said that they should nominate Jasmine Crockett - whom he termed “Low IQ Candidate” for President and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Rep. Ilhan Omar as Vice President, along with Mamdani - who will soon be New York Mayor. Trump declared that "the country is really screwed," poking fun at Democrats and expressing frustration over Mamdani's victory. “I have an idea for the Democrats to bring them back into “play.” After years of being left out in the cold, including suffering one of the Greatest Losses in History, the 2024 Presidential Election, the Democrats should nominate Low IQ Candidate, Jasmine Crockett, for President, and AOC+3 should be, respectively, Vice President, and three High Level Members of the Cabinet – Added together with our future Communist Mayor of New York City, Zohran Mamdani, and our Country is really SCREWED!” Who is Zohran Mamdani? Zohran Kwame Mamdani was born in Kampala, Uganda, but was brought up with his family in New York City, USA, at the age of 7. After graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in Africana Studies from Bowdoin College, he became an American citizen in 2018. He won.”

As Mamdani is a few steps away from the mayor's post, US President Donald Trump has slammed him for what he described as 'terrible'. He also called Indian-origin Mamdani ‘100% communist lunatic.’

In the latest, US President Donald Trump has spoken in support of Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and called for his trial to be cancelled. The latter has been charged with bribery, fraud and breach of trust. And this Trump calls a result of a ‘ridiculous witch hunt against their Great War Time Prime Minister’. Not too long ago after announcing the ceasefire between Israel and Iran, Trump expressed his frustration as both sides violated the ceasefire announced by the American President. In his Truth Social post, Trump writes, “I was shocked to hear that the State of Israel, which has just had one of its Greatest Moments in History, and is strongly led by Bibi Netanyahu, is continuing its ridiculous Witch Hunt against their Great War Time Prime Minister! US President Donald Trump once again fumed at US media outlets over recent reports suggesting that strikes on Iran did not destroy Tehran’s nuclear programme. Describing the New York Times as “failing” and CNN as “fake news”, the US president said the news outlets were demeaning the “great work” done by B-2 B-2 stealth bombers pilots and were “wrong in doing so.” Calling the reporters “bad and sick people,” Trump once again hailed that the US strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities resulted in “total obliteration”. “We just caught the Failing New York Times, working with Fake News CNN, cheating again!” Trump wrote in a post on his Truth Social platform. “They tried to demean the great work our B-2 pilots did, and they were wrong in doing so.
