So, even after the auction, we had quite a few, three or four camps, short-duration camps nearly every month leading into this tournament. Vaibhav was there in every one of those camps, getting to know the players, getting to know the support staff, getting to know the coaches," said Dravid.
"By the time he came to the IPL, we wanted him to go and have met nearly each and every one of the players. Of course, not the four foreign players because he was meeting them for the first time. But certainly, all the Indian players he had met, he had known, he had met all the coaches, he had met all the admin support staff, everyone."
"So, I think around the system, we were very clear that we wanted him to feel comfortable by the time he came here. I'm sure he's having conversations and he's learning from each and every one of those guys, whether it's Jaiswal or whether it's Parag or whether it's Jurel or Sanju. He's a shy boy and obviously, he'll take some time to open up. But I think he's very comfortable here. At no stage, he feels like he's intimidated or he's holding back. "Jasprit Bumrah was absolutely phenomenal that evening. When you talk about a spell that can crack open a series or crack open a Test match, that was it. It was incredible what he did. You win the toss, you bat first, you're out for 150, you know, that's going to be a very critical part, that session, that session after tea," said Dravid while talking to Star on the sidelines of the IPL 2025 Mega Auction.

Bumrah had led from front and took four wickets in the final session as India reduced Australia to 67/7 by the end of play on the first day itself. India went on take a 46-run lead in the first inning with Bumrah taking 5/30.

"It was great performance to come back the way they've done after losing the series against New Zealand. It was always pressure on in this first game, but I think just the way they responded and just to have Australia seven down and then to be able to pile on the runs as we've done over the next two days, I think it's been a perfect Test match. I don't think it would have gone better," added Dravid.

The teams now head to Adelaide for the second Test of the series, which is going to be a day-night match and starts December 6.

This was the southpaw's fourth Test hundred overall, and he reached the milestone with a six off the ramp shot, becoming only the third visiting player to do so Down Under.

Before Jaiswal, India's Rahul Dravid had done the same during his iconic innings in Adelaide 2003, and so did West Indies' Chris Gayle in 2009.
