The feud started after Urvashi claimed in an interview that Pant once waited for hours to meet her in Delhi. The two were reportedly dating in the past but not all seems to be well between them now.

Sri Lanka and Pakistan locked horns with each other in the last match of the Super Fours. Their most recent clash served to be a teaser for the finals of the 2022 edition of the Asia Cup.

The Sri Lankans found it relatively easy to overcome the challenge presented by The Shaheens as they were presented with a chase of 122. With Pathum Nissanka at the helm of their batting effort against Pakistan, the Dasun Shanaka-led outfit stormed to a comfortable five-wicket win.

His unbeaten knock of 55 did wonders for Sri Lanka's charge against Pakistan, setting the tone for their next and final clash of the tournament. Building on his exhilarating performance, Bhanuka Rajapaksa scored 24 runs and Dasun Shanaka put 21 on the board to help see their team through.

In addition to their batting, Sri Lanka's efforts from the opposite end of the pitch were nothing less than impressive. They put on an absolute masterclass as far as bowling was concerned, cruising past the Pakistani batting lineup to send them packing at 121.

Asia Cup 2022: Pathum Nissanka leads Sri Lanka's impressive chase beating Pakistan by five wickets

Sri Lanka took on Pakistan in what can only be described as a prequel to the penultimate match of the Asia Cup after which, one side will be crowned champions of the prestigious tournament.

Although the first innings of the final match of the Super Four stage of the Asia Cup featured some exhilarating performances from the Sri Lankan bowling order, it is perhaps the incident involving Pakistan's Fakhar Zaman that overshadowed everything else.

While facing Pramod Madushan in the sixth over, the No. 3 batsman for the Men in Green found himself in a unique predicament. In the final delivery of the over, the ball clipped the inside edge of Zaman's bat before proceeding to roll back to the stumps, making impact.

However, to everyone's surprise, including Zaman, he managed to escape getting bowled from the delivery as the impact was not strong enough to knock the bails off the wicket, offering the 32-year-old a new lease on life on the pitch.

Asia Cup 2022: Fakhar Zaman astonishingly escapes dismissal as ball fails to knock bails off the wicket- Watch

Pakistan met Afghanistan in their Super Four clash at the Asia Cup 2022 edition, on Wednesday (September 7), at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Sharjah. A win for the Babar Azam-led Men in Green would've secured them a spot in the tournament final, with Sri Lanka. On the other hand, a victory for Mohammad Nabi-led Afghan line-up would've kept the tournament alive, with India also breathing for another day.

Eventually, Pakistan emerged on top in a humdinger of a clash as Naseem Shah -- playing his fourth T20I and who had batted only once prior to this -- smacked two sixes on the trot in the last over to help his side complete a tricky 130-run chase. Being asked to bat first, Afghanistan managed 129-6 but bounced back in style in the middle overs during the second half to reduce Pakistan to 110/8, from 87/3. Thus, they only had to get one more wicket going into the final over.

Meanwhile, Pakistan needed 11 off 6 balls with Naseem-Mohammad Hasnain in the middle. The 19-year-old Naseem hit two successive sixes to finish the run-chase in an emphatic fashion, with four balls to spare. His big strokes sent Pakistani fans into a frenzy as the Men in Green dugout charged into the middle with the players going bonkers. Here's the video of Naseem's sixes:

WATCH: Naseem's two successive sixes that led Pakistan to Asia Cup final, eliminating India & Afghanistan

Pakistan and Afghanistan were engaged in a humdinger at the Asia Cup 2022 edition on Wednesday (September 07). Playing at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Sharjah, both sides entered the game with a different agenda on mind. A win for Pakistan would've ensured them a place in the final, along with Sri Lanka, whereas Afghanistan had to emerge on top to remain alive in the Super Four.

Afghanistan's win would've kept India alive in the tournament as well, for another day, but Naseem Shah's last-over sixes sealed Pakistan-Sri Lanka final. Being asked to bat first, Afghanistan only managed 129-6 on a tricky surface with Haris Rauf standing tall for the Men in Green, returning with 2 for 26. In reply, contributions from Shadab Khan, Iftikhar Ahmed and finishing cameos from Asif Ali-Naseem took Pakistan home by a wicket in another last-over finish at the Asia Cup.

The incident happened in the 19th over when Asif got out -- after hitting a six -- and Fareed celebrated in his face. Just then, Asif told him to stay away from him and even showed him the bat; as a warning that he would hit him. Afghan pacer Azmutullah Omarzai was quick to join in but as the incident turned uglier, umpires and more Afghan players came to separate the two whereas Pakistan's 12th man Hasan Ali asked the opposition side to remain calm.

At the post-match presentation, Pakistan skipper Babar said, "To be honest, the dressing room was very tensed. The team was walking in and out of the dressing room. Excellent with the way Naseem Shah finished it off. Sharjah is always low-scoring, and Mujeeb and Rashid Khan are two of the best bowlers. We just wanted to take the match deep. The way we started with the ball was excellent. In our batting, we didn't execute our plans very well, but Naseem was outstanding. At the back of the mind, I have seen Naseem play like this earlier, and I had the belief in him. This moment reminds me of Javed Miandad's six. We would like to continue this momentum and not repeat our mistakes. Every day is a different day, and we would like to take it day by day."

Watch: Asif Ali, Fareed Malik involve in ugly exchange in last-over thriller between Pakistan-Afghanistan

The penultimate clash between Pakistan and Afghanistan in the ongoing Asia Cup Super 4 clash gave one of the most nail-biting finishes of the game. While it provided an “edge-of-the-seat” thriller to the general spectators, the fans of Pakistan and Afghanistan had it otherwise.

Soon after the match ended, as the Pakistan cricket team won the game effectively, quashing the hopes of the Afghanistan team to reach the final, Afghan fans started attacking the Pakistani fans—videos of which have since gone viral.

Anguished Afghanistan fans disrupted one of the stands and randomly started hurling chairs and bottles at Pakistan fans at the Sharjah stadium on Wednesday. The Pakistan fans then tried to evacuate quickly to their safety.

Asia Cup: Shoaib Akhtar, ex-ACB chief at loggerheads after unruly scene between Pakistan-Afghanistan fans

Young fast bowler Naseem Shah turned out to be the hero with the bat for his country as he slammed two consecutive sixes against Fazalhaq Farooqi in the final over to take Pakistan home in a thrilling run chase in their Super Four clash against Afghanistan in the ongoing Asia Cup 2022 on Wednesday (September 07).

Defending a low-key total of 129 runs, Afghanistan nearly had the game in their bag when Pakistan required 11 runs off the 20th over with just one wicket in hand and two tail-enders out in the middle. However, number ten Naseem had other plans as he finished the game off in style with back-to-back sixes to take Pakistan into the final and set up a mouthwatering title clash with Sri Lanka.

Pakistan's 1-wicket win against Afghanistan has also confirmed defending champions India's exit from Asia Cup 2022. Afghanistan too have been dumped out of the race for the final after losing their first two Super Four games against Sri Lanka and Pakistan. They will now meet India in their last game on Thursday.

It was yet another action-packed game in Asia Cup as the low-scoring thriller went down the wire in Sharjah before Naseem pulled off an absolutely stunning victory for Pakistan. Chasing a mere 130, Pakistan got off to a poor start and were left reeling at 45/3 inside nine overs before Shadab Khan (36) combined with Iftikhar Ahmed (30) to add 42 runs for the fourth wicket and steady the ship for their team.

Pakistan lost the plot after Ahmed's departure in the 16th over as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals. The Afghanistan bowlers did a stellar job to keep their team in the game till the final over with 11 runs to defend off the 20th. However, Farooqi, who had a great game until the final over, was smoked for two sixes by a tail-ender to end both India and Afghanistan's hopes of qualifying for the final.

Pakistan's victory confirms India's exit

India had started the tournament as the titles favourites and the defending champions lived up to their tag in the group stage with two straight wins in their first two games. However, an injury to all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja forced them to change their team combination which saw their campaign getting derailed.

India suffered a five-wicket defeat against Pakistan in their Super Four opener before suffering yet another loss in a similar fashion against Sri Lanka in their next game to stand on the brink of elimination. Their chances of making it to the final were slim after the two losses and their fate lied in the hands of other teams.

India needed Afghanistan to beat Pakistan on Wednesday to remain alive in the competition. However, Pakistan's victory in Sharjah means they now have two wins from two games along with Sri Lanka, enough for both teams to reach the final. India and Afghanistan, with just one game remaining, will play against each other on Thursday in a dead rubber.

Also Read: 'Too much crap': Rohit Sharma says Indian players ignore social media amid Arshdeep Singh's brutal trolling Pakistan lost the plot after Ahmed's departure in the 16th over as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Pakistan's victory confirms India's exit India had started the tournament as the titles favourites and the defending champions lived up to their tag in the group stage with two straight wins in their first two games. However, an injury to all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja forced them to change their team combination which saw their campaign getting derailed. Also Read: Bhuvneshwar has no pace: Pakistan legend Wasim Akram on India's death bowling woes against Sri Lanka India suffered a five-wicket defeat against Pakistan in their Super Four opener before suffering yet another loss in a similar fashion against Sri Lanka in their next game to stand on the brink of elimination.

Mohammad Rizwan displaces Babar Azam as the No.1 ranked batsman in T20I format

Former India captain Virat Kohli continued his purple patch in Asia Cup 2022 on Sunday as he notched up his second successive half-century in the Super Four clash against arch-rivals Pakistan at the Dubai International Stadium. Kohli's form was under the scanner ahead of the tournament but the senior batter has managed to shut his critics with his performances so far.

After his 59-run-knock against Hong Kong in India's last game, Kohli once again looked in sublime touch against Pakistan on Sunday. He came out to bat at number three and capitalised well on the good start provided by openers Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul.

Kohli scored and notched up his fifty off just 36 balls and ended up with 60 runs off 44 balls laced with 4 fours and a solitary six. However, his brilliant knock went in vain as Pakistan successfully chased down the target of 182 runs to hand India their first defeat in the tournament.

Kohli spoke about the criticism he has faced over the last few months in the post-match press conference and said he has never paid attention to his critics. Sending a message to those who doubted him, Kohli said he has played international cricket for 14 years now and that doesn't happen by chance.

“Never really paid attention to these things (answering the critics). I have played for 14 years and it doesn’t happen by chance. My job is to work hard on my game, something that I am keen to do, keen to improve for my team and that’s something that I am going to continue to do so,” Kohli said.

“Everyone is doing their job (critics). Our job is to play the game, work hard, give our 120 percent. As long as I am doing that and the team has faith it in that, what happens in the change room that matters to us, to me as well. People have their opinions, that’s absolutely fine. That doesn’t change my happiness as a person,” he added.

Recently, questions were raised over Kohli's spot in India's T20I squad amid his lean patch for the Men in Blue. He had opted for a break after the conclusion of India's tour of England last month and was under immense pressure to perform in the Asia Cup after making his comeback for the team.

Kohli had also admitted facing mental struggles and not touching his bat for a month for the first time in ten years during his break. The former India captain has now admitted he feels much more relaxed and is once again loving playing the game all over again.

“I took some time away, put things in perspective and it’s given me a kind of relaxation that this is not the be-all-and-end-all of life. I have realised in life that I can’t put so much pressure of expectations on myself that I am not express myself. That’s not why I started playing the game. I was able to find that excitement back,” Kohli said.

“When I came here, the environment was very welcoming, and the camaraderie with the boys is amazing. The environment in the team is amazing, I am absolutely loving playing all over again and feeling good regarding my batting,” he added.

Asia Cup 2022: Mohammad Rizwan's brilliant knock helps Pakistan beat India by five wickets in Super 4 clash

Rohit Sharma-led India failed to defend a competitive 181/7 versus Pakistan in their Super Four face-off at the Asia Cup, in the UAE, on Sunday (September 04). Being asked to bat first, at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai, India rode on Virat Kohli's 44-ball 60 before Md Rizwan-Md Nawaz's blazing knocks and cameos from Asif Ali-Khushil Shah led to Pakistan's thrilling five-wicket win in the continental tournament.

After the defeat, many raised fingers at Arshdeep Singh for dropping one of the easiest catches -- in the 18th over to give a reprieve to Asif Ali -- whereas the likes of Bhuvneshwar Kumar (giving away 19 runs in the penultimate over) and India's middle order batters also got criticised. Moreover, fingers were also pointed out at Rohit's usage of bowlers. Some feel he could've brought back Bhuvi early for his final spell whereas the others didn't agree with him recalling inexperienced spinner Ravi Bishnoi in the 18th over (despite him nearly producing a wicket of Asif before Arshdeep's blunder). However, former all-rounder Irfan Pathan has fully backed Hitman and feels Rohit knows how to rotate his bowlers.

“A captain can be tested on two things, especially how he handles the bowler, especially when the bowlers are new and when you are defending too. These two times you get to realise and I have seen time and again Rohit Sharma is a fantastic leader. He manages the bowlers really well, he knows when to play which bowler,” Pathan said while speaking on Star Sports show ‘Follow the Blues’.

“Made Bishnoi bowl an over during the power play, he had taken a wicket but he still kept him waiting, did not let him bowl another over and got him again after Chahal’s over as he knows Bishnoi is a different kind of bowler, not a typical leg spin bowler, doesn’t bowl side arm so it was difficult for Pakistan to read his bowling style that is why he had given just 8 runs off his first two overs," Pathan added.

“Rohit Sharma manages the team very well and I hope that when the whole team is back, having Bumrah, Harshal Patel we’ll get to see a better performance from team India which we want to see specially if you see it from the lens of the World Cup,” Pathan further asserted while hoping for the Men in Blue to improve and produce better results with the return of injured pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel.

Pakistan star Mohammad Rizwan to undergo MRI scan after suffering leg strain against India

Pakistan bounced back to beat India by five wickets in their first Super Four clash in the ongoing Asia Cup 2022 on Sunday. After losing their opener in the group stage, Pakistan made it even as they clinched a last-over thriller in Dubai after successfully chasing down the target of 182 runs with one ball to spare.

India had a strong total to defend but Pakistan opener Mohammad Rizwan once again showcased his class as he played a brilliant knock of 71 runs off 51 deliveries and combined with Mohammad Nawaz (42 off 20 balls) to set up a thrilling victory for his team.

Reacting to India's five-wicket defeat, former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar said he had already predicted Rohit Sharma & Co's thrashing at the hands of the Men in Green ahead of their Super Four clash. Akhtar made some cocky comments on Pakistan's win and claimed he had told his Indian fans to not get too happy after their win in the group stage.

“Meine Indians ko bhi kaha, bahut sare doosto ko bhi kaha tha ki itna khush hone ki zaruurat nahi hai, Pakistan will make a strong comeback, meine video mein bhi bola tha Pakistan ruthelessly marage Hindustan ko. (I told Indian fans and my friends to not get too happy as Pakistan will make a strong comeback and I had said in an earlier video that Pakistan will ruthlessly trounce India)," Akhtar said in a video on his YouTube channel.

Akhtar also went on to slam India's team selection for the game and said Rohit Sharma, and the Indian team management looked 'confused'. India had to make two forced changes in the playing XI on Sunday as all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja was ruled out due to a knee injury, while fast bowler Avesh Khan was down with fever and couldn't feature.

However, Akhtar said India need to decide who they want to play going forward between wicket-keepers Rishabh Pant and Dinesh Karthik and if the likes of Ravi Bishnoi and Deepak Hooda are part of their future plans.

“India should decide what should be their final XI. Who is your future – is it Rishabh Pant, Dinesh Karthik, Deepak Hood or Ravi Bishnoi? Find you final XI at least first, because, this is confused selection from India and I don’t know why is there so much confusion,” said the former Pakistan pacer.

India and Pakistan can meet for the third time in the tournament if both teams manage to make it to the final. While Pakistan are well placed after beating India in their first Super Four game, India need to win their remaining two matches against Sri Lanka and Afghanistan to stand a chance.

(I told Indian fans and my friends to not get too happy as Pakistan will make a strong comeback and I had said in an earlier video that Pakistan will ruthlessly trounce India)," Akhtar said in a video on his YouTube channel. Also Read: Virat Kohli's message to his critics: 'I have played 14 years and it doesn't happen by chance' Akhtar also went on to slam India's team selection for the game and said Rohit Sharma, and the Indian team management looked 'confused'. 'Had said Pakistan will ruthlessly trounce India': Shoaib Akhtar on Babar & Co's thrilling win in Asia Cup

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma has reiterated his team will continue playing an aggressive brand of cricket in T20Is even if results don't go in their favour on a few occasions. India have changed their approach in the shortest format ever since Rohit took over as captain last year and have decided to stick with it in the run-up to the T20 World Cup 2022 later this year.

Rohit has often stressed playing fearlessly and the Indian batters have so far responded well by attacking the opposition from the word go in several matches the team has played so far this year. However, India have also seen the approach backfire for them on a few occasions.

India lost their Super Four clash against Pakistan by five wickets in the ongoing Asia Cup 2022 on Sunday and Rohit was once again asked if the attacking mindset of the Indian batters cost them the game. The likes of Hardik Pandya, Rishabh Pant and Suryakumar Yadav all got out trying to go big after a fiery start by the Indian openers against Pakistan.

Rohit admitted India lost quick wickets in the middle but insisted the team is ready to accept some results not going in their favour when playing with an aggressive approach. The Indian skipper believes it will not always bring success but they will end up on the winning side more often than not.

"We lost wickets in the middle, the two crucial wickets of Hardik and Rishabh were actually not needed at that point. But we want to come out with a very open mindset, play freely, so things like this can happen and we are ready to accept it," Rohit said after the game.

"Moving forward, I think that is the kind of approach we want to take and I have said it many a times, while taking that approach we'll not always have success but as a team we are very much okay with that," the Indian skipper added.

Rohit and Rahul had given India a cracking start at the top with a 54-run stand but the middle-order failed to capitalise. However, Virat Kohli showed glimpses of his prime past as he notched up a brilliant 60-run-knock to help India post a strong total of 181 runs on the board.

It was Kohli's second successive fifty in the ongoing Asia Cup after his 59-run-knock against Hong Kong in the last game. Praising Kohli for his form, Rohit said he has been brilliant so far in the tournament and batted with great tempo against Pakistan.

"I think the form [of Kohli] is brilliant, there's no doubt about that. I mean, we batted sensibly in the middle, we needed somebody to bat long when others were getting out in front of him. Obviously, he batted with that tempo as well. It was important to continue to keep doing what we want to do as a group and I thought every batter, especially Virat getting that score, staying till the end was also crucial from the team's point of view," said the Indian captain.

However, Kohli's knock went in vain as Mohammad Rizwan and Mohammad Nawaz's heroics helped Pakistan clinch the last-over thriller against India and end their unbeaten run in the tournament. India will next face Sri Lanka in their second Super Four game on Tuesday (September 06).

We'll not always have success with that approach, but we are okay with that: Rohit Sharma after Pakistan loss

Former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar has said he wants to see Virat Kohli break the legendary Sachin Tendulkar's record of 100 centuries in international cricket. Kohli's form has been under the scanner for a while now but the senior Team India batter has managed to spark a turnaround in the ongoing Asia Cup 2022.

Kohli has looked in decent touch in the Asia Cup so far with crucial knocks in India's first two matches against Pakistan and Hong Kong. He bagged a crucial 35-run-knock against Pakistan in the opener and followed it up with a brilliant fifty against Hong Kong to help the Men in Blue bag two wins in a row in the tournament.

Though he looked in good rhythm en route to his 44-ball 59 against Hong Kong, Kohli's innings lacked firepower and he was seen struggling to middle the ball on several occasions. Akhtar agreed Kohli is still not on top of his game and suggested waiting till the T20 World Cup 2022 if the shortest format is still a viable option for him going ahead.

“Virat Kohli hasn't been middling the ball really well. Both innings were quite patchy. He scored 59, I wish him the best. Mera ye hi mashwara hoga Kohli ko ki dekh lo World Cup tak (My only suggestion to Kohli is to just wait till the T20 World Cup), if this format suits your or doesn't suit you. 30 centuries karni hain aur aage (you have to score 30 more centuries),” Akhtar said in a video on his YouTube channel.

Akhar further backed Kohli to break Tendulkar's record of scoring 100 centuries in international cricket. Tendulkar holds the record for smashing the most number of centuries in international cricket and is the only man in the history of the sport to reach the 100 centuries mark.

With 70 centuries under his belt, Kohli is the closest to Tendulkar's record among the active batters. He is currently behind only Tendulkar and former Australia captain Ricky Ponting (71) in the list of batters with the most centuries in international cricket.

Akhtar believes Kohli can go on to establish his credentials as the greatest of all time if he can score 30 more centuries in his international career. However, the Pakistan pacer insisted the remaining 30 centuries will be the toughest ones for the senior India batter, who has not scored a ton for Team India since November 2019.

“You can become the greatest player forever. You have to convince yourself that you are the greatest ever. This is going to be the hardest 30 centuries -- if he scores. When he goes to the longest formats, he will get time to settle. Here, he is trying but the time is less, you have to maintain a good strike rate, you have to ensure the team wins," said Akthar.

"He is positive, he is aggressive.. he is a great player, but I really want him to score a 100 centuries and break Sachin Tendulkar's record. It looks impossible right now, but this man can do it,” he added.

Former Pakistan skipper Waqar Younis recently opened up about Rishabh Pant's abilities, admitting that he was one of the finest players to ever swing a bat for Team India.

'Just another game': Suryakumar Yadav downplays immense hype surrounding India-Pakistan rivalry

Pakistan have been trudging through their Asia Cup campaign in the absence of their marquee bowler, Shaheen Afridi. The team's wicketkeeper, Mohammad Rizwan, offered his take on Afridi's absence and whether the Men in Green had a bowler who was worthy to replace Afridi.

Afridi was effectively shackled to the sidelines due to an injury that he sustained to his knee during Pakistan's two-match series with Sri Lanka.

He has since been sidelined as he pursues medical treatment and goes through the lengthy rehabilitation that is involved with the injury that he sustained.

The wicketkeeper-batsman offered fans some insight into the void that Afridi had left behind in the wake of his injury. He asserted that his talent was such that it cannot be replicated by any player in Pakistan's crop at this point in time.

"I've talked to the bowlers before. I will be very honest here, no bowler from this group can replace Shaheen. This is my honest answer.

"The way he (Shaheen) has performed in the past 1-2 years, no bowler can come into the side and fill his shoes," admitted Rizwan while in conversation with the media in the aftermath of their Group A clash against Hong Kong.

Former Pakistan captain Mohammad Hafeez recently offered his take on what he expects the team's leadership to do in order to make their way to the top of the food chain in the international cricketing circuit.

He recently called upon the reigning Pakistan captain Babar Azam to step out of his comfort zone and allow in-form batsmen to lead Pakistan's charge on the batting front.

He opened up about the same while reviewing Pakistan's performance on PTV Sports. Hafeez argued that Fakhar Zaman should be offered the opportunity to lead Pakistan's attack from the get-go.

"This debate has been going on for some time. If we look at their success rate, I think we should stop discussing about this till the World Cup. Let them play. The only thing they need to improve is their strike rate and intent.

"Although I agree, Fakhar should open. But it can only happen if Babar shows big heart as a captain and leaves his comfort zone to play at no.3 and emerge as a leader. He should utilise the other player if he thinks he can play better," said Hafeez.

He subsequently asserted that the decision to switch up the batting order ultimately rests in the hands of the team's administration and Azam himself.

However, he urged Azam to consider stepping out of his comfort zone and rely on more effective batsmen for the benefit of the team.

ALSO READ: 'Laying too deep a foundation': Sanjay Manjrekar sheds light on major flaw in Pakistan's T20I approach He opened up about the same while reviewing Pakistan's performance on PTV Sports. Although Azam is popularly hailed as one of the most efficient and accomplished batting talents in the world, his performance in the ongoing Asia Cup has been fairly underwhelming, prompting criticism from fans and pundits from all over the world.

Mohammad Hafeez calls upon Babar Azam to 'show some heart ' and drop down to No. 3 ahead of IND vs PAK

India will be looking to continue their unbeaten run in the ongoing Asia Cup 2022 when they lock horns with Pakistan for the second time in the tournament on Sunday (September 04). India defeated Pakistan by five wickets in their opening clash at the Dubai International Stadium last week and will be aiming to make it two wins in a row against Babar Azam & Co. in the Super Four.

India have so far managed to live up to the favourites tag in the tournament with back-to-back wins in their first two games against Pakistan and Hong Kong. While the batters have looked in great rhythm barring the misfiring KL Rahul, the bowling attack has done reasonably well in the absence of Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel.

However, India have been marred with injury woes ahead of the blockbuster clash against Pakistan as all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has been ruled out of the remainder of the tournament due to a knee injury while fast bowler Avesh Khan is not well and might not feature on Sunday.

In Jadeja's absence, India will have major selection calls to make as they will have to pick an ideal replacement for the all-rounder. While they have a like-to-like replacement in Axar Patel, India can also rope in Deepak Hooda into the playing XI and use him as a second all-rounder alongside Hardik Pandya.

India will also have to make the tough choice between wicket-keepers Rishabh Pant and Dinesh Karthik. Karthik had pipped Pant in the playing XI last time around but the left-hander is expected to keep his spot on Sunday as India lack a left-hander in their top four in Jadeja's absence.

Hardik will once again have to play a key role if India are to fancy their chances against Pakistan, who will be desperate to seek revenge. India might also have to make a forced change in their bowling attack if Avesh fails to make the cut.

It remains to be seen if R Ashwin takes his spot in the playing XI or if Deepak Chahar can be included in the squad from the reserves. Bhuvneshwar Kumar will continue to spearhead the pace attack along with Arshdeep Singh. India also have the option to play both Yuzvendra Chahal and Ravi Bishnoi in Jadeja's absence.

When it comes to the head-to-head record between the two sides in T20Is, India have dominated Pakistan over the years having won eight out of the ten matches played between the two teams. They remain favourites to continue their unbeaten streak against the Men in Green in the Asia Cup 2022 on Sunday.

India vs Pakistan, Asia Cup 2022 prediction:

India appear a well-oiled unit despite the absence of a key player in Ravindra Jadeja. If the Rohit Sharm-led side can find an ideal replacement for him in the XI, they will remain favourites against Pakistan, who are without pacers Shaheen Afridi and Shahnawaz Dahani. India also have momentum on their side having won their first two games.

IND vs PAK, Asia Cup 2022 prediction: Who will win today's Super Four clash between India and Pakistan?

Former cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar recently offered his take on Pakistan's approach to T20 cricket and batting in the shortest format of the game.

He asserted that the Men in Green spend too long in a bid to lay the foundation for themselves while playing T20 cricket. He reviewed the Shaheens' performance in a recent post on Twitter.

Per Manjrekar, the Pakistani top order batsmen try to lay too deep a foundation which robs the middle order batsmen the opportunity to settle in comfortably and add value to their batting unit.

"Have one observation on Pakistan’s T20 cricket. They are laying too deep a foundation. For a 20-over innings, it’s unnecessary.

"What’s more it will give more opportunity to no 4,5,6 thereby making Pakistan a more wholesome batting unit, a better T20 side," wrote Manjrekar of Pakistan's performance in the shortest format of the game.

This comes shortly before Pakistan's mega-clash with arch-rivals India in the Super Four of the Asia Cup. They previously locked horns with each other in their opening clash of the tournament.

Although the Pakistani bowlers managed to mow through India's batting top order with relative ease, an awe-inspiring partnership from Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja got the Men in Blue through to the next round of their Asia Cup campaign without a loss on their record.

While Pakistani players like Naseem Shah and Mohammad Rizwan have enjoyed an extremely successful run in the ongoing Asia Cup, skipper Babar Azam's outing this time around has been nothing to write home about.

Fans will be relying on the skipper to pull through and carry the team to glory as they approach the penultimate rounds of the tournament.

'Laying too deep a foundation': Sanjay Manjrekar sheds light on major flaw in Pakistan's T20I approach

Former Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez said the Indian cricket team get 'pampered' in world cricket, not because of their performances on the pitch but because of the revenue the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) generates. BCCI is the richest cricket board in the world and holds significant power among the major ICC members.

The Indian cricket team also enjoys immense popularity across the globe and a staggering viewership, making their bilateral tours a great revenue source for the host nations. While BCCI remains one of the most powerful boards in the world, India have also been a formidable team across formats, over the years.

Hafeez, who has made some absurd comments about the Indian players and the Indian cricket team in the past, made yet another ludicrous claim about the Indian team's popularity across the globe. During a discussion on Pakistan channel PTV Sports, Hafeez called India the most 'laadla' (pampered) team.

Hafeez took to Twitter to share a clip of his comments during the discussion and captioned the post 'Laadla'

"I don't know a lot, but I definitely know that in our society, whoever is the earner is loved by everyone, is the most 'laadla' (pampered), gets the most kisses from everyone," said the former Pakistan captain.

"India is a revenue-making country. So even in bilateral series across the world, where they get sponsorship, they get a jackpot, it's hard to deny these things," he added.

When the anchor went on to ask the former Pakistan all-rounder if India are the 'laadlas' because they play well or they make more money, Hafeez went on to pick the latter.

Hafeez's recent comments come days after he called Indian skipper Rohit Sharma 'weak, afraid and confused' despite his team's five-wicket win against Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2022 opener in Dubai. Hafeez claimed Rohit looked weak and afraid when he came out for toss against Pakistan and that his body language was not good.

"You see Rohit Sharma's expression after winning the match. This expression happened after India won by 40 runs. I had talked about Rohit Sharma's body language, when he came out to toss, he looked weak, he seemed afraid and confused. I am not being able to see Rohit Sharma, whom I have observed during matches playing incredible innings. I think captaincy is putting a lot of pressure on Rohit. He is facing a lot of difficulties," the former Pakistan all-rounder had said.

India 'pampered' since they make more money, not because they play well: Mohammad Hafeez

Pakistan's Mohammad Rizwan recently offered fans some insight into the environment and mindsets that his team carry into matches against India as the arch-nemeses prepare to lock horns with each other for the second time in the Asia Cup on Sunday.

He admitted that matches against their geographical neighbours are always high-octane affairs as international fans wait for the action to unfold with bated breaths just as much as Indian and Pakistani fans.

"Playing India is always a pressure game. The whole world, even beyond Asia, wait for it. The pressure will be equally on India and us, but the result will be with whoever remains brave and keeps calm," said Rizwan while in conversation with the media on Friday.

Rizwan further admitted that he often advises his teammates to keep matters simple on the pitch and maintain the same attitude regardless of who their opponent is, India or another country.

"I tell players, whether you play India or Hong Kong, it's a game of bat and ball. So keep it simple. Yes, it's a big game and our confidence is high but only hard work is in our hands, as the result is from God," declared the wicketkeeper.

The left-handed Fakhar joined Rizwan, a wicketkeeper-batsman, and the two rebuilt the innings. Rizwan reached his fifty off 42 balls to raise the bat amid raucous applause form the crowd.

Asia Cup 2022: Pakistan thrash Hong Kong by 155 runs, storm into Super Four

Hong Kong spinner Ehsan Khan dented Pakistan's chances of victory by taking out their star batsman and skipper Babar Azam with a jaw-dropping return catch in the initial stages of their Asia Cup clash.

He bolstered his team's chances of emerging victorious from this matchup as he picked up a low catch to send Azam, who merely managed to record 9 off 8 deliveries, on his way. The fact that it was Khan himself who bowled the ball that led to the wicket makes the feat all the more impressive.

*💥 WICKET:* 🎯 🎳 Pakistan 🇵🇰 13/1 (2.5/20 ov, lost the toss) v Hong Kong 🇭🇰 Babar Azam c & b Ehsan Khan 9 (8) Ehsan Khan 0.5-0-6-1 🔰 pic.twitter.com/eRoIADXWiA — Muhammad Irfan (@Muhamma04263819) September 2, 2022 × ALSO READ: Huge blow for India as Ravindra Jadeja ruled out of Asia Cup 2022, Axar Patel named replacement Although Azam entered the tournament hot on the heels of a series of impressive performances and red-hot form. Former Pakistan skipper and one of their most prolific batsmen, Mohammad Hafeez recently offered a scathing review of Rohit Sharma's performance as the captain of team India. In addition to claiming that he looks lost, and weak, Hafeez declared that Sharma currently runs the risk of losing his captaincy.

Sharma has led the Men in Blue to two triumphs in their ongoing Asia Cup campaign, with one victory coming against their arch-rivals, Pakistan. However, it seems like Hafeez is far from impressed.

In a video that he recently shared on social media, Hafeez was seen flaming Sharma for the way he has gone about performing his duties as skipper. Hafeez, who was analysing his performance in a segment on PTV, declared that captaincy had exacted a heavy toll on Sharma.

Hafeez broke down Sharma's mannerisms in the aftermath of India's clash against Hong Kong, which they went on to win by a margin of 40-runs. Despite walking away with the win, India were not at their best and matters could have gone down to the wire if it weren't for a scintillating performance from Suryakumar Yadav.

"Look at his expression. This is Rohit Sharma’s expression after the game got finished. And they have won by 40 runs. His body language was weak when he came out to toss. I thought he was scared and confused. I can’t see Rohit Sharma whom I know. That Rohit Sharma who has played blinder of knocks,” said Hafeez.

"And this is not my prediction, I think that it will be hard to continue captaincy for Rohit Sharma. I have always seen him enjoy, but right now he is not expressing himself. He looks lost and he has too much pressure on him. I feel sorry for him,” declared the 41-year-old.

Despite Hafeez's claims and reservations, well-founded or not, India, under the expert leadership of Rohit Sharma, have managed to consolidate their position in the Super Four of the Asia Cup. Sharma could very well shut down his detractors and vindicate himself in Hafeez's eyes if he can take the team all the way to defend their title.

Former Pakistan skipper believes Rohit Sharma will lose his captaincy, claims he ‘looks lost’

With his most recent Asia Cup outing, in which he showed glimpses of his old self, Virat Kohli made his way into the T20I record books as he became the player with the highest average in the shortest format of the game.

He managed to accomplish the feat during India's Group A clash against Hong Kong at the Dubai International Stadium. He built an extremely interesting partnership with Suryakumar Yadav, personally putting 59* runs on the board off of 44 balls. He stormed to this score, bagging one four and three sixes.

Kohli has scored 3,402 runs in the T20I format at an average of 50.77 over the course of 101 matches, effectively becoming the player with the highest average in this format. He did so by surpassing Pakistan's Mohammad Rizwan, who boasts of an average of 50.14, which he has consolidated across 57 matches.

In addition, Kohli also recently equalled yet another record that is held by his teammate and skipper, Rohit Sharma, for the highest number of 50-plus scores in the T20I format, by upping his tally to 31. Of these half centuries, his best score to date has been that of 94*.

Despite this recent slew of successes on the pitch, Kohli is yet to bring an end to a lengthy century drought that has plagued him for over a thousand days. This drought, in addition to a series of disappointing performances, prompted a clear break from the sport, which came to an end just before the start of the Asia Cup.

Since his return to active contention, Kohli has repeatedly asserted that his vigour and desire to perform well on the pitch have been renewed. While an international ton still eludes him, based on his recent performances, he is certainly well on his way to bagging it sooner rather than later.

Virat Kohli bags impressive T20I record following inspiring performance against Hong Kong in Asia Cup

Rohit Sharma-led India faced Hong Kong in their Asia Cup 2022 match on Wednesday (August 31) at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai. After a thrilling win over Pakistan, the Men in Blue were looking to cement their spot in the Super Four round with another victory in their kitty. The Rohit Sharma-Rahul Dravid-led Indian team went past the minnows by 40 runs to become the second team, after Afghanistan, to enter the next round in the Asian championship, being held in the UAE.

Being asked to bat first, India rode on Virat Kohli's gritty 59 not out and Suryakumar Yadav's 26-ball 68* to post 192/2 in 20 overs. In reply, Hong Kong lost only five wickets but only managed 152-5 to lose by a convincing margin. With this win, Team India achieved a new feat by registering their 18th win in the format in 2022, most by the one-time winners in a calendar year. Pakistan had attained 17 wins in 2017 and, thus, India have gone past them but the overall list is still led by Babar Azam & Co. In 2021, the Men in Green had bagged 20 wins in the format (most by any team in a calendar year). However, with plenty of T20I action remaining in the year -- with the 2022 T20 World Cup to be held in Australia from October-November -- Rohit & Co. will hope to go past their arch-rivals and top the overall list.

After the win versus Hong Kong, Rohit opined at the post-match presentation, "We batted pretty well to start with, got to a very good score. Came out and bowled reasonably well, we could have done slightly better with the ball. (SKY) The kind of innings he played today, the words will be short. We have seen that with him every now and then. He comes up with such kinds of knocks. He just comes out and bats fearlessly which is what the team expects from him. Some of the shots he played today, those are not written anywhere in the book. It was very pleasing to watch. Shot selection was also crucial. We know he can play all around the park. We have also informed the group about this (flexibility in the batting order) as well. Most of the guys are ready to take the opportunity and be ready to bat wherever required. That's the flexibility we need. We'll take those chances. We are going to try and use the right match-ups."

India will now gear upto face the winner of the Pakistan-Hong Kong clash in their first game in the Super Four round at Asia Cup 2022. The match will be held at the same venue on Sunday evening (September 04). Given India's red-hot form, they can even the 22-win mark by the end of the Asia Cup. Will they be able to achieve it? Only time will tell...
