The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Monday announced the match schedule of the New Zealand men`s cricket team`s dual tours of Pakistan. "New Zealand will play two Tests as part of their ICC World Test Championship title defence and three ICC Men`s Cricket World Cup Super League fixtures from December 27 to January 15, before returning for five T20Is and five ODIs from April 13 to May 7. On the first leg of the Pakistan tour, Kane Williamson`s side will play Tests in Karachi (December 27-31) and Multan (January 4-8). They will return to Karachi for the three ICC Super League matches on January 11, 13 and 15," PCB said in an official statement.

The Karachi Test will be New Zealand`s first in the metropolitan city since October 1990 when Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis shared 15 wickets between them and Shoaib Mohammad scored 203 not out, and the first in Pakistan since the May 2002 Test in Lahore in which Inzamam-ul-Haq scored a memorable 329 and Shoaib Akhtar recorded first innings figures of 8.2-4-11-6.It continues to be a memorable year for Multan as well. After hosting three ODIs against the West Indies in May, they will stage the second Test between Pakistan and England (December (9-13), before holding the second Test between Pakistan and New Zealand. Multan has also been announced as one of the four venues of the HBL Pakistan Super League, which will be held from February 9 to March 19. New Zealand will begin the second leg of the Pakistan tour in Karachi with four T20Is (April 13, 15, 16 and 19), followed by the fifth T20I and two ODIs in Lahore (April 23, 26 and 28) and last three ODIs will be played in Rawalpindi (May 1, 4 and 7).

Zakir Khan, PCB Director - International Cricket: "We had promised our passionate fans that we will deliver high-quality home international cricket in 2022. Today`s announcement of New Zealand`s double visit to Pakistan is part of that commitment."New Zealand is one of the high-performing sides and the more we will play against the top teams in our backyard, the better we will get as a unit, which is crucial to our objective of featuring inside the top three across all formats. The New Zealand matches will also provide opportunities to our youngsters to continue to watch and follow their favourite players in action, something they have missed when we were forced to play our international cricket offshore," Khan said."Three Tests against England followed by two Tests versus New Zealand over six weeks will give us a chance to strengthen our claims for a place in the ICC World Test Championship final. The eight ODIs will help us to prepare for September`s Asia Cup and October`s 50-over ICC Men`s Cricket World Cup 2023. As such, the series against New Zealand will not only be from the top drawer but will also have context, making it something to watch out for," he added.

David White, New Zealand Cricket Chief Executive: "The BLACKCAPS are very much looking forward to the dual tours. New Zealand and Pakistan share a terrific history in international cricket and there is genuine respect between the two teams as well as the two boards. I know our players can`t wait to arrive and savour the experience of playing in Karachi, Multan, Lahore and Rawalpindi -places that carry a great cricketing heritage." The recent tours from Australia and England have left us in no doubt regarding the quality of the Pakistan side across all formats, and the extent of the challenge that awaits us," he added. The first leg of the tour for two Tests and three ODIs is part of the Future Tours Programme, while the 10 white-ball matches in April/May are to make up for the abandoned September 2021 tour.

New Zealand are presently eighth in the ICC World Test Championship, while Pakistan sitting in the fifth spot. In the ICC Super League, a qualifying tournament for the ICC Men`s Cricket World Cup 2023, Pakistan and New Zealand are fourth and sixth, respectively. New Zealand will be the third high-profile cricket side to tour Pakistan in 2022. In March/April, Australia made their first tour of Pakistan in 24 years when they played three Tests, three ODIs and a T20I. Last month, England visited Pakistan for the first time in 17 years and played seven T20Is. They will return in late November for December`s Tests in Rawalpindi, Multan and Karachi.

PCB confirms New Zealand tour of Pakistan, Babar Azam & Co. to host 8 ODIs, 5 T20Is and 2 Tests

Former Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi made a bold statement on the India-Pakistan cricketing rivalry ahead of the much-awaited meeting between the arch-rivals in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022. India and Pakistan will resume their rivalry in the showpiece event which gets underway in Australia later this month.

Speaking ahead of their game, Afridi said Babar Azam & Co. have managed to bring back some sort of rivalry between India and Pakistan which was lost in the past. Lauding former India captain MS Dhoni, Afridi, who has himself been part of numerous famous India-Pakistan matches, said Dhoni finished the hype surrounding the rivalry between the two teams by winning regularly.

Under Dhoni, India were a force to reckon with across all formats and won several major ICC trophies, including the 2007 T20 World Cup, 2011 ODI World Cup and the 2013 Champions Trophy titles. India defeated Pakistan in all meetings in World Cup matches under Dhoni's captaincy.

Afridi said it was a one-sided affair when Dhoni was leading India but after his departure, Pakistan have managed to fight back once again and are on the rise under Babar at present. Pakistan have managed two wins in their last three matches against India under Babar's captaincy.

"Agar aap India ke team ko uthake dekhe, pichhle kuchh arse main, Dhoni ke daur me agar aap dekhe toh unhone apni approach ko change kar diya. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Ramiz Raja claims the Indian cricket team has started taking Pakistan more seriously and have been givingthem more respect after the recent results in the meetings between the two teams. Pakistan had defeated India by 10 wickets in the high-profile clash between the arch-rivals at the T20 World Cup last year.

Pakistan, who had never won a World Cup against India in the history, managed to beat the Men in Blue by ten wickets to bring an end to a long wait. Babar Azam & Co. played some fantastic cricket throughout the tournament but failed to make it to the final of the T20 World Cup in the UAE.

India and Pakistan met twice in the Asia Cup earlier this year where both the teams managed to win a game each. While it was a disappointing early exit from the tournament for India, Pakistan ended up making the final where they went down fighting against Sri Lanka.

Lauding the Babar Azam-led side for defeating a 'billion-dollar team' like India with lesser resources than their arch-rivals, PCB chief Raja said Pakistan deserve credit for the way they have played their cricket recently.

'Billion-dollar team' India have started respecting Pakistan after recent results, says PCB chief Ramiz Raja

On Thursday (October 06), Thailand pulled off a huge upset win over Pakistan beating them by four wickets in a low-scoring thriller in the ongoing Women's Asia Cup, in Bangladesh. Opting to bat first, the Bismah Mahroof-led Women in Green only managed a paltry 116 for 5 in their full quota of overs. Sidra Ameen, their opening batter, was the top run-getter as she scored 56 but her stay comprised of 64 deliveries, at a slow strike rate of 87.50.

None of the Pakistani batters found momentum to go big from the word go and paid the price to only manage 116. In reply, Thailand batters also found it tough to get going as the surface proved to be a challenge but Natthakan Chantham's 51-ball 61 led her side to a four-wicket win on the penultimate ball of the contest. Nida Dar and Tuba Hassan accounted for two scalps each but couldn't prevent the opposition from hitting the winning runs.

With this win, Thailand have thrown the top-4 race wide open. It is not straight forward as it was previously. In the points table, Harmanpreet Kaur-led Indian eves still hold the top spot, with Pakistan's two-match winning run coming to an end. Pakistan and Sri Lanka follow suit, with four points each, with Bangladesh, Thailand and UAE taking the next slots, respectively. Malaysia remain the only winless side so far.

What they said at the post-match presentation

Natthakan Chantham | Player-of-the-Match: Looking to enjoy the game, play with the target in hand and just complete the game. Play according to the ball was my plan. Pakistan made me work hard as they are very good with spin.

Naruemol Chaiwai | Thailand captain: [Enjoyed] Very much. Pakistan are a strong side, we want to win against every team, at this moment we want to enjoy and the win will come automatically. No specific plan, the same plan everyday. The last two games we did not bowl the correct line or length, but today we did it.

Bismah Maroof | Pakistan captain: Disappointed with the way we batted. Our batters haven't showed the intent. They have to be blamed today. The set batters were there but they could not push on. 130+ could've been a good total and as a captain I'm disappointed we did not get there. We had Kainat but she could not execute her plans [on just playing with one pacer].

Women's Asia Cup 2022: Thailand pull off an upset with four-wicket win over Pakistan

Rohit Sharma-led India recently left for Australia, after their three T20Is versus South Africa at home, for the upcoming T20 World Cup, starting on October 16. Rohit & Co. will hope to win the title for the first time since the inaugural edition in 2007.

In last year's T20 WC, Virat Kohli-led India bowed out of the mega event in the Super 12 round after defeats at the hands of Pakistan and New Zealand, respectively. Since then, Rohit-Rahul Dravid-led team management were committed to strengthen their back-up options.

As a result, India made a plethora of changes throughout the year while playing the shortest format, especially in the bowling attack. It was done to provide the national selectors with a large pool of players to choose from.

However, former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif took a dig at Team India's constant rotation of players. While speaking on a TV show, Latif was asked if Deepak Hooda's should have been given more chances during India's experimental phase (the all-rounder is part of the T20 WC squad but wasn't preferred on several occasions before missing the last two T20I series due to injury). This, the former keeper-batter made a bold claim. 'India played 56-57 players...' - Ex-Pakistan captain takes a dig at Rohit & Co. before T20 World Cup

Pakistan Cricket Board's (PCB) chief Ramiz Raja has lashed out at Babar Azam's critics. Pakistan lost the Asia Cup final, losing to eventual winners Sri Lanka by 23 runs, whereas they conceded the seven-match T20I series, at home, to England 4-3. Meanwhile, Babar Azam -- who held the No. 1 spot in ICC T20I Rankings for long -- was woefully out of form in the Asia Cup, where he amassed only 68 runs in six outings, but returned to form with 285 runs in the England series (second-most overall). However, he is often slammed for his strike rate while batting at the top.

Ramiz, hence, made a bold Virat Kohli statement while slamming Babar's critics. "Previously we used to falter at the very first hurdle. Yes we reached the final and yes we did not play well. But it's okay to have a bad day. But there were others teams as well in the Asia Cup. I mean then India should then have been severely criticised for not reaching the final. But that is not what their fans and media do. I'll tell you...when Virat Kohli scored a century against Afghanistan, they forgot their entire Asia Cup. Will we ever do that? What we say is that Babar Azam scored a ton, but his strike rate was 135 while David Warner's was 147.3. So this is useless,” the former captain said while speaking to Samaa TV during an interview.

'When Kohli scored 100, India forgot their Asia Cup campaign...': Ramiz Raja on Babar Azam's critics

The T20 World Cup 2022 edition is just a few days away. The eighth edition of the mega event will be held in Australia and will kick off with the qualifying round. Four teams, from the qualifiers, will then join the top eight sides in the Super 12 round (in two groups of six each).

Before the commencement of the showpiece event, former cricketers and experts of the game are picking their favourites for the coveted title. Rohit Sharma-led India, who are the No. 1 ranked side in the format, Australia, South Africa, Pakistan and England are some serious contenders whereas other teams can also not be taken lightly as the margin of error is very small in the shorest format.

Ahead of the T20 WC, Aussie great Michael Bevan picked his favourites. "I reckon I would have to say India, England and Australia. I think that the pick of the teams at the moment are probably India and England. But Australia have some amazing players, some super talented players and, when it clicks for them, it clicks and they are plenty good enough to take off (win) consecutive World Cups," Bevan told SkySports.

"And, given the home ground advantage (for Australia), it should help a little bit as well. I think they would have to be my top three at this stage," the two-time ODI World Cup winner added.

In last year's edition, Aaron Finch-led Australia won the title for the first time after beating New Zealand by eight wickets at the iconic Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai. It will be interesting to see which side walks away with the championship this time around.

India, Australia, England or Pakistan? Aussie great picks his favourites for T20 World Cup

Babar Azam-led Pakistan hosted England in a seven-match T20I series, which concluded on Sunday evening (October 02) in Lahore. In a series that saw the momentum swinging from one side to the other, Jos Buttler-less England emerged on top to win 4-3 after winning the final encounter by 67 runs. Being asked to bat first, Moeen Ali-led England rode on Dawid Malan's 47-ball 78 to post a daunting 209 for 3. In reply, Pakistan's run-chase never got going as they only managed 142 for 8 in their full quota of overs to lose by a convincing margin.

As Babar Azam and Md Rizwan -- the No. 1 batter in the format -- fell soon, Pakistan's chances diminished in a flash. Shan Masood's 43-ball 56 was the only shining aspect for the Men in Green, however, they never pushed England on the back foot in the second half of the encounter, at the Gadaffi Stadium, Lahore. After the clash, former Pakistan spinner Saeed Ajmal lashed out at Pakistan.

Without mincing his words, Ajmal said on his Youtube channel, "They completely outclassed us. Bilkul bachho ki team lag rahi thi Pakistan, itne bechaare lag rahe the. Itna maara hai inn logon ne. Jis tarah ke momentum se vo khelte hain, uss tarah se hamein bhi khelna chahiye. Aap logon ke andar itna khauf hai ki 'hamein select kiya jaayega ya nahi' (Pakistan played like kids. England dominated and hit them to all parts of the ground. We need to play with the same intensity, but most of our players do not play fearlessly in order to not lose their spot in the XI)."

“Fear se aap khelenge toh aap fail honge. Fearless cricket khelenge toh kaamyaab honge. Ek match me achha kheloge aur 10 match bure khel jaate ho, pata nahi kaisi training kar rahe ho. Iss se achha toh vo unfit, mote-mote players khila lo, Sharjeel Khan ko khila lo, Azam Khan ko khila lo (If you play with fear, you will fail. You need to play fearless cricket. These guys play well in one match and then fall flat in the next 10 games. It's better if you play unfit, fat players instead. Sharjeel Khan, Azam Khan can be given a look-in instead)," he added.

At the post-match presentation after the Lahore T20I, skipper Babar said, "It was definitely difficult. With 200 runs on the board, if we lose early wickets, it puts pressure on the other batters. This series was vital for us. We need to improve in the shortest format. I also mentioned at the toss, that we have a good bowling attack. Haris is bowling well, and he is improving everyday. I think entire Pakistan was waiting for this, even we were happy to host England."

Better to play unfit, fat players: Ex-Pakistan spinner slams Babar & Co. after T20I series loss to England

Pakistan legend Javed Miandad has urged the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to have an 'honest' conversation with captain Babar Azam amid a drop in his performance. Miandad wants PCB to ask Babar if captaincy is taking a toll on his game and whether the star batter feels he cannot cope with the burden of leading the side.

Babar has been one of Pakistan's most prolific run-getters across formats over the last few years. However, he has struggled with his form of late and has failed to produce big knocks consistently. His rough patch with the bat is a huge concern for Pakistan with the T20 World Cup 2022 starting in Australia this month.

“Babar is a world-class batsman. But the board should ask him if the captaincy is taking a toll on him. There needs to be an honest conversation between him and the board. If he feels he can’t both perform with the bat and lead in the field, then the captaincy shouldn’t stay with him. However, the board should clarify to Babar that he is their preferred choice for captain,” Miandad was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.

Babar is currently leading Pakistan in the ongoing seven-match T20I series against England at home. The Pakistan skipper has managed to spark some sort of a turnaround but has struggled for consistency. After a terrific century in the second T20I, Babar slammed an unbeaten 87 in the 6th T20I against England in Lahore on Friday.

However, his brilliant knock went in vain as Pakistan failed to defend a total of 169 runs and lost the game by 8 wickets with as many as 33 balls to spare. Babar will be hoping to end the series on a high when Pakistan lock horns with England in the 7th and final T20I on Sunday.

The series is currently locked at 3-3 with the final match a decider at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. Pakistan will head to Australia for the T20 World Cup starting later this month after the conclusion of the England series.

Prize money for T20 World Cup: Full list out! Winner to walk away with a WHOPPING sum

Mohammad Rizwan has been in sensational form for Pakistan. His recent run of form in the shortest format is exceptional. He ended as the highest run-getter in the Asia Cup, with 281 runs in six outings, and has already scored three half-centuries out of four T20Is in Pakistan's ongoing home series versus England.

Rizwan, the No. 1 T20I batter, remains one of the key players for Pakistan as the Men in Green are gearing up for the forthcoming T20 World Cup, in Australia in October-November. However, the wicketkeeper-batter made heads turn in a shocking video which has gone viral. In the viral clip, the 30-year-old was signing autographs for the Pakistan fans on caps and jerseys. Amid all this, someone threw the national flag towards him and the Pakistani opener caught hold of it and signed on it. However, he lifted the Pakistani flag with his feet towards the end of the video:

Talking about Pakistan-England seven-match T20I series, the Karachi leg got over on Sunday (September 25) with the hosts winning the fourth encounter by three runs. Being asked to bat first, Pakistan rode on Rizwan's 88 to post 166 for 4 in 20 overs. In reply, England conceded the game despite needing only five runs off the last ten deliveries, with three wickets in hand. They were dismissed for 163 in 19.2 overs with Haris Rauf and Mohammad Nawaz accounting for three scalps each.

Former Pakistan cricket team captain Shaheed Afridi has rued the lack of a finisher of Indian star Hardik Pandya's quality in the current Pakistan side. Lauding Hardik for his batting heroics, Afridi claimed Pakistan need a finisher like him in their batting line-up ahead of the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022.

Pandya has been in remarkable form for the Indian team ever since making his comeback from a back injury earlier this year. He enjoyed a tremendous Indian Premier League (IPL) campaign and has continued his purple patch for the Men in Blue in white-ball cricket.

He has produced numerous match-winning knocks for India recently and has looked on top of his game with the ball as well. While speaking on Pakistani news channel Samaa TV, Afridi mentioned Pandya when asked about Pakistan's batting line-up heading into the World Cup and pointed out how the Men in Green still don't have a batter who can finish games consistently.

"This kind of a finisher (like Hardik Pandya) we don't have. We thought Asif Ali, and Khushdil will do the job but they haven't. Nawaz is also not that consistent, and neither is Shadab. Among these four players, at least two need to be consistent. The period in which Shadab bowls is very crucial. The day he does a good job with the ball, Pakistan wins," said Afridi.

Speaking about Pakistan's chances of winning the T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia this year, Afridi said Babar Azam & Co. have a lot of gaps to fill in both the batting and the bowling department before they can truly consider themselves as contenders for the elusive title.

"In the kind of pitches on which we are playing now, you need two genuine fast bowlers and one all-rounder. The new guy Jamal that we have picked, why don't you play him? Play him as an all-rounder, make him bowl and then ask him to bat. You will get to know what type of cricketer he is. If Pakistan are dreaming to win the World Cup then they need to work a lot on their bowling and batting and minimize the mistakes that they have been committing in the last few matches," said Afridi.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Ramiz Raja has issued a warning to the Babar Azam-led side ahead of the T20 World Cup 2022, stating that losing will not be an option for them in the upcoming world cup. Pakistan will start as one of the strongest contenders for the title at the World Cup which is set to get underway in Australia next month.

Pakistan have been in sublime form in T20Is over the last few years and have enjoyed great success in the tournament. Babar & Co. had made it to the semi-final of the tournament last year but failed to go the distance. They will be hoping to go all the way this year and lift the trophy Down Under.

Ahead of the showpiece event, Pakistan Cricket Board chief Ramiz Raja was asked what are his expectations from the team this year. Raja said he has already told the players losing won't be an option for them at the World Cup. Raja went on to claim he is a poor loser himself and feels like hitting people around him when Pakistan lose a game.

"I feel like hitting people around me when I see Pakistan losing. I am a very terrible watcher, actually. I get scolded at home because I offend everybody completely.

"This is the only sport that contributes to bringing smiles back on people’s faces. It lifts your nation’s morale," he added.

Raja had recently been criticised for snapping at an Indian reporter after Pakistan's defeat against Sri Lanka in the final of the Asia Cup 2022. The PCB chief lost his cool at the Indian journalist over his question about Pakistan's defeat and snatched his phone before giving it back.

The Indian team is facing criticism from all corners for their sloppy fielding in the first T20I against Australia in Mohali on Tuesday. India looked far from clinical on the pitch and dropped as many as three crucial catches during Australia's run-chase. The Men in Blue lost the series-opener by four wickets after failing to defend a good total of 208 runs.

India dropped the catches of both Cameron Green and Matthew Wade, who went on to play brilliant knocks to take their team home in the 209-run chase. Former Pakistan captain Salman Butt took a swipe at the Indian players' fitness after their shoddy fielding in the game and called some of the Indian players 'overweight'.

Butt compared the Indian players to their Australian, English and South African counterparts while arguing why they are not the fittest despite being the highest-paid cricketers in the world.

"Indian players are the highest-paid cricketers in the world. They play the maximum number of matches. You tell me why are they not the fittest. If we compare their body structure, teams like South Africa, Australia and England are much better. I would even say some Asian teams are ahead of India. Some Indian players are overweight. I think they need to work on that because they are brilliant cricketers," Butt said in a video on his YouTube channel.

While he admitted the likes of Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja have set great fitness standards in the Indian team, Butt argued Rohit Sharma and Rishabh Pant don't look on top of their fitness. He also called out KL Rahul for being lethargic on the field against Australia on Tuesday.

"I don't know if others will talk about this or not, but in my view, Team India's fitness is not ideal. Some experienced players are not at that level where they should be in terms of fielding. Virat Kohli has set an example for others in fitness. Ravindra Jadeja, Hardik Pandya are so fit," said Butt.

They have outstanding fitness, but there are players like Rohit Sharma, even KL Rahul looked lethargic today, you know, Rishabh Pant. If they become fit, they will become more dangerous cricketers," he added.

Highest-paid but some are overweight: Former Pakistan captain aims dig at Indian players on fitness

Pakistan cricket team captain Babar Azam gave a strong response after he was slammed by former cricketer Aaqib Javed over his timid batting approach in T20Is. Javed had criticised Babar over his slow strike rate and inability to accelerate in the shortest format.

Javed, who is the head coach of the Lahore Qalandars franchise in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) also aimed a sarcastic jibe at the Pakistan captain, claiming he never asks his team to get Babar out in a run-chase due to his sow strike rate. Responding to his comments, Babar urged former players to avoid making personal attacks.

"When we play against Karachi Kings and we have a total of 180 or so, we have never tried too hard or wanted too badly to get Babar Azam out. Because he plays at his own pace and the required rate keeps increasing," Javed had said taking a dig at Babar.

The Pakistan captain was asked for his views on the former pacer's comments during the pre-match press conference ahead of the first T20I against England at home. Babar said he respects everyone's opinion but never lets the criticism get in his head and affect his performances.

"He may think so. Everyone has their opinion but as players, we do not carry it inside the dressing room," Babar told reporters on Monday.

"Former players know how difficult it is to play in the middle. They can make observations but personal attacks should not happen. There is no need for that," he added.

The Pakistan captain has been subjected to criticism after his lean patch in the recently-concluded Asia Cup 2022. The prolific right-hander looked out of touch as he managed to score only 68 runs in six matches throughout the tournament. However, Babar is hopeful of bouncing back in the upcoming series against England.

“I hope to return to my best in this series… and it will be good if it happens before the World Cup. I think less about failures when going through a bad patch,” said Babar.

“As a batsman your focus is to do your best to regain your form and it would be great to do that before the World Cup," he added.

Pakistan cricket team captain Babar Azam gave a strong response after he was slammed by former cricketer Aaqib Javed over his timid batting approach in T20Is. Javed had criticised Babar over his slow strike rate and inability to accelerate in the shortest format.

Former Pakistan cricket team captain Mohammad Hafeez has opened up on his recent comments about the Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) and said the people are unwilling to criticise the Indian cricket board due to its growing influence in world cricket. Hafeez had recently called India the 'pampered child' of world cricket.

The former Pakistan all-rounder believes BCCI's power helps the Indian board in influencing a lot of major decisions in world cricket and there are not many who raise their voice against them. BCCI is one of the richest cricket boards in the world and enjoys significant power in the International Cricket Council (ICC) affairs.

Former cricketers like Australia's Adam Gilchrist and Sri Lanka's Arvinda de Silva among others have in the past expressed their concerns over BCCI enjoying veto power in the ICC. Hafeez has now become the latest to join the bandwagon and speak against the Indian cricket board.

"Let’s be honest. Cricket is a beautiful game, and the countries that play it are really good at the sport. They add value wherever they go. They have a flair that entertains fans. But when it comes to India, everybody knows that a lot of times people stay quiet, thinking that they cannot criticise India," Hafeez said in an interview with Cricket Pakistan.

Hafeez said he has always been against biased opinions on any platform and feels criticism should be fine as long as it is constructive criticism. The former Pakistan all-rounder said players who think they don't need any advice don't have the right attitude.

Many other players inspire you and provide eye-catching moments with their game. That’s why I said that they are treated as ‘laadla’. I stand by my statement," he added.

People stay quiet thinking they cannot criticise India: Ex-Pakistan captain on BCCI's growing influence

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Ramiz Raja recently responded to former all-rounder Shahid Afridi's shocking statement about injured fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi. Afridi had recently claimed Shaheen, who is recovering from an injury, has travelled to England at his own expense and is undergoing treatment on his own.

Speaking on a Pakistani news channel, Afridi claimed Shaheen has received no support from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) despite being one of the superstars in the current Pakistan team. His statement soon went viral on social media and became a major talking point in the Pakistan cricket fraternity, inviting criticism for the PCB.

However, PCB chief Raja has denied Afridi's allegations and has termed the entire saga an “unfortunate controversy”. Raja said there was some ticketing issue in Shaheen's case as he had to leave early and the left-arm pacer didn't like the place that PCB had arranged for his treatment so he opted for treatment from another doctor.

“How can you even think that PCB can disown Shaheen Afridi? It is beyond my understanding. It’s an unfortunate controversy," Ramiz said on PCB's official YouTube channel.

"When Rizwan fell ill during the T20 World Cup 2022, who took care of him? Our doctor's panel stayed up all night to treat him, they got him fit and they ensured he played in the final (semi-final). It could be that in this case, there was a lack of clarity.

"Because he had to leave quickly from Dubai, maybe there was some ticketing issue. Because he went where he had to go, but he didn't like the place, so he went somewhere else,” added the PCB chief.

Shaheen has been one of the vital cogs in Pakistan set up in all three formats for the last few years. The premier fast bowler has been among the most prolific wicket-takers for Pakistan in international cricket and has quickly established his credentials as one of the most exciting pacers in the world at present.

How can you even think that PCB can disown Shaheen? Ramiz Raja on Shahid Afridi's shocking statement

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Ramiz Raja recently opened up on snapping at an Indian journalist after his team's loss in the Asia Cup 2022 final. The Babar Azam-led side had lost the summit clash against Sri Lanka by 23 runs after failing to chase down the target of 171 runs.

While Pakistan's poor show in the final drew criticism from all corners, one of the biggest talking points was Raja losing his cool at a journalist after the game. The incident happened outside the Dubai International Stadium where reporters were waiting with questions for the PCB chief after Pakistan's loss in the final.

The Indian journalist asked Raja about his views on the Pakistani fans who were disappointed after the defeat. The PCB chief lost his cool on hearing the question and went on to ask the journalist if he was from India. He then snatched the reporter's phone before returning it back.

The clip of the incident had gone viral on social media with the Indian fans lashing out at the PCB chief over his behaviour. Raja opened up about the incident during a Q&A with fans on Pakistan Cricket's official YouTube channel. The PCB chief said the Indian reporter's line of questioning was not right and labelled his questions 'provocative'.

"I'll tell you what happened. The line of questioning was not right. The only point that I had was, the reporter asked that all Pakistan fans are angry with the loss in Asia Cup final, I just asked him how does he know that fans are angry? You are sitting in a different area, so how do you know the fans are unhappy," said Raja.

"These are provocative statements, if you do not have any malice in your heart, it will come through. Anyway, it was just one incident, we shall let it go," he added.

'Provocative statement': PCB chief Ramiz Raja opens up on losing cool at Indian journalist post Asia Cup final

Babar Azam has done well as Pakistan's captain across formats. Under him, Babar-led Men in Green reached the semi-finals of the 2021 T20 World Cup and the Asia Cup final. However, a big title still eludes skipper Babar. He will be hoping to turn things for his national side by taking them to the coveted title in the forthcoming 2022 T20 WC, to be held in Australia from October-November.

After Pakistan's Asia Cup final loss to Sri Lanka by 23 runs, in Dubai, many slammed Babar for not using his bowlers smartly in the summit clash. His own failures with the bat -- where he amassed only 68 runs in five outings in the continental tournament -- hasn't helped his cause. Now, veteran keeper-batter Kamran Akmal has revealed that he had advised Babar to not take up Pakistan captaincy.

Akmal revealed on a YouTube show, as quoted by Hindustan times, "During a T20I in Faisalabad when Babar was walking out for the toss, I got to know that he is being made captain. That is when I told him... 'I don't think now is the right time for you to become captain. Give your best performances in the next 2-3 years. The batting line-up is depended on you. Reach Virat Kohli's level first, Steve Smith's level. By then, you would have scored 35-40 centuries and enjoy captaincy. The moment Sarfaraz leaves, you will be next in line. But now is the right time. I told him back in the day but it was his decision. Those who were close to him, must have spoken to him and advised him to take up captaincy."

Babar was appointed as Pakistan's T20I in late 2019 before being given the post in ODIs early next year. Later in the same year, he was promoted as the full-time captain. Kamran, however, added that he believes that Pakistan cricket will move backwards if they remove Babar from the captaincy post.

"I had also told him to only concentrate on his batting. He was scoring runs and would have continued to do so. The flow was beautiful. People enjoyed watching him bat. With captaincy, there will be pressure, which will affect his batting, his approach. And somewhere, that is visible now. But at the same time removing him as captain right now would be a big blunder on the part of the team management. Pakistan cricket will go back," added the veteran.

India and Pakistan's cricketing rivalry surely makes heads turn. In the recently-concluded Asia Cup 2022 edition, held in the UAE, both sides met for the first time after last year's T20 World Cup face-off and played each other twice.

In both the meetings, the match went down to the wire as both won and lost a game each. Now, India and Pakistan will square off once again in the forthcoming T20 World Cup 2022 edition, in Australia from October-November, at the iconic MCG, Melbourne. It promises to be another mouth-watering clash in the Indo-Pak rivalry on the 22-yard cricket strip.

On this day in 2007, India and Pakistan locked horns for the first time in the inaugural T20 WC, at Durban. In the day-night encounter, at Kingsmead, Durban, MS Dhoni led India for the first time ever -- after the Scotland tie was entirely abanonded after the toss -- and the match was a blockbuster in every sense.

Opting to bowl first, Shoaib Malik-led Men in Green rode on Mohammad Asif's 4 for 18 and Shahid Afridi's twin strikes to restrict India to 141-9 in 20 overs. Robin Uthappa's 50, Dhoni's 31-ball and lusty blows from Irfan Pathan-Ajit Agarkar saved India from a spot of bother after they were reeling at 36 for 4.

In reply, Misbah-ul-Haq was the lone warrior for Pakistan as his 53 took his side to 141-7 and the match went to the bowl-out. The bowl-out added much drama to the high-voltage clash which brought a lot of newness to the game. Eventually, India beat Pakistan 3-0, by hitting the stumps in their initial three attempts, to win the contest. Here's the video of the bowl-out:

On this day, 2007: When India, Pakistan were involved in epic bowl-out clash in 2007 T20 WC - Video

Pakistan captain Babar Azam might not have had the best of campaigns in the recently-concluded Asia Cup 2022 but he remains among the finest batters in the world at present. Babar struggled to score runs consistently in the Asia Cup but Pakistan still managed to make it to the final where they lost against Sri Lanka to miss out on the title.

Babar, who is currently the no.1 ranked ODI batter in the world, is one of the most skilled batters at present and has a range of shots in his arsenal. A prolific run-getter across formats, Babar can play some exquisite strokes and is known for his brilliant cover drives.

He has often been compared with the likes of Virat Kohli and Sachin Tendulkar over his ability to play stunning cover drives and now his famous shot has made its way into the physics book of ninth grade in Pakistan. Recently, a Pakistani journalist - Shiraz Hassan shared a screenshot of a question on Babar's cover drive in the physics book of 9th grade in the country.

The journalist informed that the question was part of the Federal Board syllabus and was originally shared on Reddit. It has since gone viral on social media.

"Babar Azam has hit a cover drive by given kinetic energy of 150J to the ball by his bat. a) At what speed will the ball go the boundary if the mass of the ball is 120g? b) How much kinetic energy footballer must impart to a football of mass 450g to make it move at this speed?" - read the question.

Talking about Babar, he would be disappointed with his performance in the Asia Cup 2022 where the Pakistan skipper could only manage 68 runs in six matches. He managed only two double digits scores of 14 and 30 against India and Sri Lanka, respectively and flopped massively in the tournament.

Question on Babar Azam's cover drive in Pakistan's 9th-grade physics book goes viral on social media

Sri Lanka defeated Pakistan by 23 runs in the final of the Asia Cup 2022 on Sunday to lift their sixth title and cap off an incredible tournament. The Lankans rode on a terrific all-round performance from Wanindu Hasaranga and a brilliant knock from Bhanuka Rajapaksa to shatter Pakistan's hopes of lifting the prestigious trophy.

Pakistan won the toss and opted to bowl first in the summit clash before getting off to a flying start as they reduced Sri Lanka to 58/5 inside nine overs. However, Rajapaksa (71) combined with Hasaranga (36) to steer his team to a fighting total of 170 runs.

Hasaranga continued his dream run as he picked up three wickets while pacer Pramod Madushan bagged a four-wicket haul to bundle out Pakistan for 147 runs in 20 overs and secure a comprehensive win for their country. It was a disappointing batting effort from Pakistan as their middle-order crumbled under pressure.

The top-order flopped too as both Babar Azam (5) and Fakhar Zaman (0) departed cheaply in the final. Opener Mohammad Rizwan scored 55 runs in the final and tried to keep Pakistan in the game but he failed to do so and was widely criticised for his poor strike rate in the 171-run chase.

Rizwan managed 55 runs off 49 balls at a strike rate of 112.24 which cost Pakistan the game as they fell short in the run chase. Among those who were critical of Rizwan's approach was the legendary Wasim Akram as he bashed the opening batter for his slow scoring rate.

Akram pointed out Rizwan had batted similarly against Hong Kong earlier in the tournament and revealed he was attacked on social media by fans for calling out the Pakistan batter over his performance. The legendary cricketer said insisted he is not someone who can sing false praise of someone who isn't performing well.

"At the beginning of the tournament, I had said that the openers won't mess up but struggle in games like these. That's exactly what happened today," said Akram on Star Sports after Pakistan's loss in the final.

"He (Rizwan) had done the same thing against Hong Kong if you remember. I criticised him, which was healthy criticism. And people attacked me on social media. Pakistan people said that I don't support Rizwan. If you want my opinion, I will give you the right and straightforward opinion. I am not the guy who will lie about what I see. Black is black and white is white for me," he added.

As much as Pakistan batters deserve to be blamed for their poor show, Sri Lankan bowlers should be credited for producing a brilliant effort with the ball to bundle out the Pakistan team for 147. Madushan and Hasaranga combined to run through the top and the middle-order while Chamika Karunaratne also chipped in with two wickets.

Pakistan lost to Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup final on Sunday evening (September 11). Locking horns in the marquee clash, at the iconic Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai, Sri Lanka did the unthinkable by defending a score at the venue -- which is favourable for teams batting second -- to beat Babar Azam & Co. by 23 runs. With this win, the Islanders not only made a strong statement ahead of the T20 World Cup 2022 edition -- from next month in Australia -- but also went on to claim their sixth Asia Cup title overall.

Talking about the contest, Pakistan opted to bowl first and reduced the Lankans to 58 for 5 in 8.5 overs. From thereon, Bhanuka Rajapaksa's 71 and all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga's 21-ball 36 propelled them to a fighting 170 for 6 in 20 overs. In reply, Pakistan only managed 147 all-out in 20 overs with Md Rizwan scoring a 49-ball 55 and Iftikhar Ahmad's 31-ball 32. While the batters failed to get going, Pakistani fielding was also not up to the mark.

Shadab Khan, one of the best fielders in Team Pakistan, dropped Rajapaksa twice. In the 17th over of the Lankan innings, he gave a reprieve to the left-hander and once again dropped him in the next over as well, colliding with Asif Ali as the ball went for a six. He returned with decent bowling figures, 4-0-28-1, but only managed a six-ball 8 during the run-chase. Taking cognizance of his ordinary day on the 22-yard cricket strip, the all-rounder was quick to accept his mistakes and shared a heartfelt note on Twitter.

After the match, Shadab Khan took to Twitter and wrote, "Catches win matches. Sorry, I take responsibility for this loss. I let my team down. Positives for team, @iNaseemShah, @HarisRauf14, @mnawaz94, and the entire bowling attack was great. @iMRizwanPak fought hard. The entire team tried their best. Congratulations to Sri Lanka."

Apart from Shadab, even Md Rizwan was slammed for his unimpressive 49-ball 55-run knock. The right-hander remained Pakistan's highest run-getter but was trolled for not being able to score freely. He ended with a below-par strike rate of 112.24.

At the post-match presentation, Babar said, "Congratulations to Sri Lanka for playing outstanding cricket. We dominated them for the first eight overs, but the partnership that Rajapaska got was amazing. This was a true wicket and it is always nice playing in Dubai. We didn't bat according to our potential. We started well, but we gave away 15-20 extra runs and couldn't finish well. A lot of positives for us to take. In a final, the margin for mistakes is lesser. Our fielding wasn't up to the mark and the batting couldn't finish it off well. But Rizwan, Naseem and Nawaz were positives. Ups and downs will be there, but it would be nicer if we made lesser mistakes."

Pakistan's tally of runs was bolstered by Sri Lanka's Dilshan Madushanka as he offered the Men in Green a 10-run lead at the start of the innings.

Virat Kohli is regarded as one of the greatest batters to have played the game and is often pipped against his contemporaries when it comes to the debate over the best in the world. Kohli has been one of the most prolific run-getters for India over the years and has already established his credentials as one of the best of all time.

Despite his lean patch in international cricket over the last few months, Kohli's numbers remained world-class and it was only a matter of time before he returned to form in the Asia Cup 2022. The former India captain rediscovered his old mojo in the Asia Cup with back-to-back fifties and a much-awaited 71st international century.

Kohli notched up a fantastic knock of 122 runs against Afghanistan to bring an end to his nearly three-year-long wait for an international hundred and joined Ricky Ponting at the second spot on the list of batters with the most number of centuries in international cricket. While Kohli went on a redemption journey, his competitor Babar Azam suffered a dip in form in the Asia Cup.

The duo share a great rapport with each other but the Pakistan captain has often been compared against Kohli for his batting exploits across formats for the Men in Green. Babar has not been at his best in the Asia Cup with only 64 runs in five matches so far.

Ahead of the final between Pakistan and Sri Lanka, Pakistan head coach Saqlain Mushtaq was asked for his take on the Kohli vs Babar debate. While he picked the Pakistan skipper over the Indian batting maestro, Mushtaq admitted Kohli has a special place in his heart.

"Definitely Babar kahunga... but Virat mere dil ke bohot karib hai (I will definitely pick Babar, but Virat is close to my heart).

With over 24,000 runs in international cricket, Kohli is already cunted among the legends of the game and Babar has a long way to go if he needs to come close to the former India captain. Babar has been among the most consistent batters across formats in the last few years but he will have to continue performing at the same level for a number of years to match Kohli.

Babar will be looking to bounce back to form and make an impactful contribution when Pakistan lock horns with Sri Lanka in the final of the Asia Cup 2022 on Sunday. Pakistan last won the tournament in 2012 while Sri Lanka have not won the title since 2014.

Although Akram admitted that The Shaheens would enter the final as the favourites to outperform the Sri Lankans and lay claim to the title of Asia Cup champions, he admitted that it may not be as easy as one would like it to be.

While in conversation with BBN Sports, Akram asserted that although Sri Lanka will enter the match as the underdogs, the Men in Green will have to be wary as they seem to be in red-hot form.

"The performance of the Pakistan team has been fabulous in this Asia Cup. However, in the game against Sri Lanka, the intent was missing in their batting.

"The bowling was decent though. Hopefully, they will learn from their mistakes. But still, I think, Pakistan are the favourite in the finals. But the exciting and young Sri Lanka team cannot be taken easy,” said Akram.

He subsequently singled out Pakistan's skipper Babar Azam, admitting that he had spent enough time training after a less than impressive outing in the Asia Cup to learn from his mistakes and put in a better performance in the final.

“Babar is one of the best players in the world and needs just one good innings. He struggled a bit because he might be worried about the lack of runs.

'Sri Lanka cannot be taken easy': Wasim Akram picks his favourites ahead of Asia Cup 2022 final

Pakistan will lock horns with Sri Lanka in the blockbuster final of the Asia Cup 2022 at the Dubai International Stadium in Dubai on Sunday (September 11). While Sri Lanka will be aiming to win their seventh title, Pakistan will be looking to lift their third trophy. Sri Lanka defeated Pakistan comprehensively in the Super Four meeting between the two teams on Friday and will be aiming to repeat their feat in the final showdown on Sunday.

Sri Lanka have arguably been the best team in the tournament so far having lost just once. They got off to a shaky start with an 8-wicket loss at the hands of Afghanistan but have since won their next four matches in a row to make it to the final. Pakistan, on the other hand, will be aiming to bounce back after losing their last encounter against Sri Lanka in Super Four.

Pakistan have had a topsy-turvy run in the tournament as they started with a morale-crushing defeat against arch-rivals India in their opener but were quick to bounce back and thrashed Hong Kong ruthlessly in their next game. Babar Azam & Co. then went on to avenge their loss by beating India in the Super Four before surviving a mighty scare to beat Afghanistan in a thriller next to make it to the final.

Their five-wicket loss against Sri Lanka n Friday was an eye-opener for Pakistan, who saw their batting collapse once again after the top order failed to deliver. Pakistan's middle-order hasn't been tested much in the tournament and Sri Lanka can once again put them under pressure in the final f they can get their openers early.

Sri Lankan spinner Wanindu Hasaranga and Maheesh Theekshana both bowled exceptionally well against Pakistan and will be hoping to continue their fine form in the final. The Lankan batters will also have to be ready for a stern test against the in-form Pakistan pace attack.

Here is all you need to know about the Asia Cup 2022 final:

Head-to-head record

Sri Lanka and Pakistan have met thrice in the Asia Cup final with the Men in Green winning twice. Pakistan defeated Sri Lanka in the finals of the 1986 and the 2014 editions of the tournament while Sri Lanka emerged victorious in 2000. Sri Lanka have been the most consistent team in the Asia Cup with 11 final appearances under their belt.

The toss factor

Teams batting second have enjoyed a massive advantage over the teams batting first on the Dubai surface in T20Is over the last few months. 26 out of the last 30 T20Is in Dubai have been won by teams chasing. In the Asia Cup 2022, India's victory against Hong Kong is the only game in Dubai which has been won by the team batting first. Winning the toss will thus be crucial to the chances of both teams in the final on Sunday.

Pakistan vs Sri Lanka, Asia Cup 2022 final: Live streaming details, head to head record and predicted XIs

Pakistan legend Javed Miandad has lashed out at Afghanistan for their 'bad behaviour' against Pakistani players during the clash between the two sides in the Asia Cup 2022 earlier this week. Pakistan defeated Afghanistan by 1 wicket in a thrilling contest to secure a spot in the final of the tournament.

There was drama on the field during Pakistan's run chase in the game as the players from both sides were involved in some heated moments. It all started in the 19th over of Pakistan's innings when Afghanistan's Fareed Ahmad dismissed Asif Ali on 16.

Fareed celebrated wildly after Ali's dismissal prompting the Pakistan batter to walk up to him and exchange a few words with him. Asif then raised his bat threatening to hit the Afghanistan pacer before hitting him with his elbow. Asif was criticised by many on social media for his reaction but several former Pakistan players have been blaming Afghanistan for provoking Asif.

Miandad is the latest former Pakistan cricketer to join the bandwagon and has slammed Afghanistan players for their behaviour.

"Pakistan played well but I’m disappointed with the team (Afghanistan) they defeated. Just because their behaviour is so bad nowadays. We brought them into the picture, they used to practice in Pakistan. And now, just see their language. How older are they? They haven’t played that much cricket, have they lost their minds?" Miandad said while speaking to 'Events & Happenings Sports'.

"Pakistan have been playing the game for 20 years now. They came here and learned the game. I’m the witness because I coached them. But I was baffled to see how they behaved as if they were superstars. Your cricket is nothing. Learn how to play the game. There are numerous aspects of cricket. If you are sincere, humble and give respect (to each other), your game will get better," he added.

It was a must-win clash for Afghanistan and they produced a brilliant fight against Pakistan before going down. Afghanistan almost had the game in their bag at one stage during Pakistan's run chase when the Men in Green were reduced to 118/9 on the penultimate delivery of the 19th over.

With 11 runs to get off the last over, many backed Afghanistan to defend it and win the game. However, Pakistan's no.10 Naseem Shah slammed back-to-back sixes to play a match-winning cameo for his team and wrap up the run-chase comfortably with four balls to spare.
