“It's really easy for me, one of them is playing here at the moment Ravindra Jadeja. I think what we saw from Ruturaj Gaikwad, he must be retained. They do not want to let him go anywhere and the combination at the top of the order with Faf du Plessis," Doull said on Star Sports.

“To bring MS beside to play his final game and Faf du Plessis will take over the captaincy in IPL in April-May next year. So that's my thinking and I don't think MS will play the full season, I think Faf will take over at some stage through the season. But I think there will be a home game, where they announce it will be his last game and Faf will take over the captaincy after that," he added.

Dhoni, who is in the final lap&nbsp;of his career having already retired from international cricket, was expected to retire after leading CSK to their fourth IPL triumph in the 2021 season. However, he has decided to continue playing and might play beyond the 2022 season depending on the needs of the franchise.

Former India pacer Irfan Pathan disagreed with Doull's prediction about Du Plessis leading CSK after Dhoni and said young Gaikwad, who has been consistent in the last two seasons will be an ideal fit to be groomed as a captain. He also suggested that CSK would retain an all-rounder like Moeen Ali or Sam Curran and not Du Plessis as their fourth player.

During the event, he also said that hopefully, his last T20 match "will be in Chennai" but he added, "whether it's next year or in five-years-time, we don't really know". &nbsp;

Nonetheless, Shah on Saturday said the tournament will return to India next year. Speaking at Chennai Super Kings (CSK)'s title celebration ceremony in Chennai, Shah addressed the fans and said he knows the Chennai crowd has been eagerly waiting for the team to return to Chepauk and that the moment is not that far.

"I know you are all eagerly waiting to see CSK play at the Chepauk, the moment is not very far. The 15th season of the IPL will take place in India and it will be more exciting than ever with two new teams joining," Shah told the fans.

Chennai Super Kings have not played an IPL game at their home ground - Chepauk Stadium for two years as during the first leg of IPL 2021 teams were not allowed to play at home. Thus, CSK is expected to receive&nbsp;a roaring welcome when they eventually return to the Chepauk next season.

According to past press statements issued by CVC Capital Partners, it acquired a majority stake in Malta-headquartered betting operators Tipico, which has a major base in Germany too, in 2016 after taking a controlling stake in UK`s Sky Betting and Gaming in 2014. Notably, betting is legal in those regions. But, none of these entities have business operations in India, where betting is illegal. 
 
In the latest development, CVC`s successful bid to win the Ahmedabad franchise of the IPL has gone into negotiations with the company trying to explain to the BCCI officials that its investment in a UK betting firm, which has become a bone of contention, is not illegal. 
 
As a result, there has been a delay in BCCI giving the Letter of Intent, which has already been submitted to the RPSG Group of Sanjiv Goenka, who has successfully bagged the Lucknow franchise.

As far as the chances of Warner heading back to SRH are concerned, Hogg doesn't see that happening. "I don't think Warner will play for SRH anymore. I think there is bit of a relationship problem between the franchise management and David Warner," the former chinaman bowler noted.

There will be no Right To Match (RTM) option this time around.

The existing eight teams can retain a maximum of three Indian and two overseas players. The old franchises can not retain more than two uncapped players. Meanwhile, the two new teams will be allowed to pick a total of three players outside the auction after the existing eight teams are done with their final retentions.

Rohit also gave some insights on Mumbai Indians' chances to retain their core group of players, admitting that it will be almost impossible for them to have all the players in their current squad back. Rohit said he is aware that MI might not have the same squad for IPL 2022, considering two new teams will be added to the tournament from the next season with a mega auction set to take place.

"We won't have the same squad,&nbsp;unless some miracle happens. It will be hard not have all of them as part of the same group next year. But, hopefully, we can get the same core group of players and create a magical couple of years," Rohit said.

Earlier top brass was thinking about keeping the base price for two new teams at Rs 1700 crore but later it was decided to keep the base price at Rs 2000 crore," a senior BCCI source told PTI on the condition of anonymity.

The source, who has dealt with the financial side of IPL in the past, said that the BCCI stands to gain at least Rs 5000 crore if the bids go as per plan with plenty of large business conglomerates showing active interest in bidding. "The BCCI is expecting anything in the range of 5000 crore if not more. There will be 74 IPL games next season and it's a win-win situation for everyone." The BCCI statement added: "The Governing Council of the IPL invites bids to acquire the right to own and operate 1 (one) of the 2 (two) new teams proposed to be introduced to take part in the Indian Premier League from the IPL 2022 season, through a tender process. "Any interested party wishing to submit a bid is required to purchase the ITT. However, only those satisfying the eligibility criteria set out in the ITT and subject to the other terms and conditions set out therein, shall be eligible to bid. It is clarified that merely purchasing this ITT does not entitle any person to bid," it added. It is learnt that only companies with an annual turnover of Rs 3000 crore will be allowed to bid for the teams. In a welcome news, the BCCI is planning to allow a consortium to bid for teams as it makes the bidding process more vibrant. "I think more than three business entities won't be allowed to form a consortium but if three business come together and wants to jointly bid for a team, they are welcome to do so," he said. Among the venues where the teams could be based include Amedabad, Lucknow and Pune. The Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad and Ekana Stadium in Lucknow, with bigger capacities, could be the choice for franchises. Some of the names that are doing the rounds include the Adani group, RPG Sanjeev Goenka group, noted pharma company Torrent and a prominent banker who has shown active interest in buying teams.

According to a report in TOI, the BCCI is set to design a compensation package for domestic cricketers if the Ranji Trophy or the Vijay Hazare Trophy is cancelled due to COVID-19.&nbsp;The Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy is scheduled to kick-start from January 10 to 31.

“The idea to compensate the domestic cricketers adequately was mooted by BCCI secretary Jay Shah,” a reliable source told TOI on Thursday.&nbsp;

The BCCI has further increased the insurance cover for cricketers from INR 5 lakh to INR 10 lakh. 
Furthermore, the retirement age of umpires, match referees and scorers to 60 from 55.
