Tahawwur Rana ‘should be hanged’: Father of cop killed in 26/11 attacks demands capital punishment ahead of his extradition

This comes as Russian President Vladimir Putin is expected to make a visit to India later this year. The Indian prime minister invited Putin during his trip to Russia last year in July. Putin has already accepted the invitation but the exact date of Putin&rsquo;s visit has not been announced yet.
PM Modi&rsquo;s 2024 visit marked his first trip to the country in nearly five years. In 2019, PM Modi attended an economic conclave in Russia&rsquo;s far eastern city of Vladivostok.
The two leaders maintain regular contact and hold talks over the phone once in every couple of months. Putin and Modi also hold in-person meetings on the sidelines of foreign events.

Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh reviewed current geopolitical developments and shared views on the importance of promoting dialogue and diplomatic solutions to global conflicts. They emphasised the need for sustained international cooperation to enhance stability and build the conditions necessary for sustained economic and social development.
Both leaders expressed satisfaction on the active Coast Guard-to-Coast Guard cooperation and committed to further deepen it by formalising the same through an MoU. They acknowledged active participation in each other&rsquo;s exhibitions and defence expos, and welcomed India-UAE Defence Partnership Forum which has the potential to result in strategic Joint Ventures and co-production projects benefiting both countries, also agreeing to focus on complementarities for the two countries in the Make-in-India and Make-in-Emirates initiatives.

According to Pakistani broadcaster ARY, Saudi officials said travellers holding Umrah visas can still enter the country up until 13 April. After that, the restrictions will apply fully.
<h2>Why the ban?</h2>

The Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has clarified that the decision is not linked to diplomatic tensions but is purely logistical, aimed at keeping the pilgrimage safe and organised.

The Indian Central government on Monday (Apr 7) announced that excise duty on petrol and diesel will be increased by Rs 2 per litre. According to the notification issued by the Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance, the changes will come into force on Tuesday (Apr 8).
The duty on diesel is now at Rs 10 per litre while on petrol, it stands at Rs 13 per litre. Previously, the duties were Rs 8 per litre for diesel and Rs 11 per litre for petrol, according to the oil ministry data.

Fire Officer K M Shiju led a team of rescue workers to remove the nut using a precision cutter. The team performed the detailed task with tremendous precaution as otherwise the process could prove dangerous to his life. The cutting generated a lot of heat, which could have also affected the man's genitals. So, the team poured water continuously on the area to keep it cool. They were finally able to cut the nut from both sides, freeing the man from agony.
The fire team said that it was one of the most challenging tasks they had ever performed.&nbsp;

A man landed himself in legal trouble after he allegedly posted &ldquo;I love you Pakistan&rdquo; on social media, news agency PTI reported on Monday (Mar 24), citing a police official.
The man, identified as Tabrez Alam of Uttar Pradesh&rsquo;s Bareilly, is a resident of Shikarpur Chaudhary Gautia, according to Izzatnagar Station House Officer (SHO) Vijendra Singh.

BCCI announces whopping award money for Champions Trophy winners India

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) released a statement on Wednesday on the recent strikes and the developing situation in Gaza.
The MEA said that it is concerned about the situation and stressed upon the importance of the release of the hostages.
MEA gave a call for the supply of humanitarian assistance to continue for the people of Gaza.
"We are concerned at the situation in Gaza. It is important that all hostages are released. We also call for supply of humanitarian assistance to the people of Gaza to be sustained", the MEA said.
In the early hours of Tuesday, the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) had announced about conducting "extensive strikes on terror targets belonging to the Hamas" in the Gaza Strip.
The IDF said, "In accordance with the political echelon, the IDF and ISA are currently conducting extensive strikes on terror targets belonging to the Hamas terrorist organization in the Gaza Strip."
In a series of posts on X, the Israel Prime Minister's Office explained that the strikes were conducted after the instructions from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defence Minister Israel Katz, due to Hamas's repeated refusal to release hostages, its rejection of all of the proposals received from US Presidential Envoy Steve Witkoff and from the mediators.

IDF further added that the Israeli Navy also struck several vessels along the coastal areas of Gaza which as per them were intended to be used for conducting terrorist activities by the groups, Hamas and Islamic Jihad.

As per Al Jazeera, at least 14 people have been killed in the overnight and early morning Israeli attacks on Gaza.

Terming ties with India as "close", Oman foreign minister Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi has said that the "sky's the limit" for the relationship between the two countries. Speaking to WION in Muscat, on the sidelines of the Indian Ocean Conference, FM Busaidi said, while both countries are celebrating 70 years of formal diplomatic relationship this year, "relationship with India extends far beyond that. It's 5,000 years of connection between the people of India and the people of Oman and this region, we are very much really blessed, I think, to have such a beautiful, constructive, close relationship with India."&nbsp;
Earlier this week, both Indian External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar and Oman FM jointly released a logo to celebrate 70 years of ties between the two countries and a book "Mandvi to Muscat" that details the diaspora connections between the two countries. The foreign minister pointed out that the "potential for further growth and further partnership in all fields is there to be grasped by governments, by the private sector, by the young people of both countries."
