It is well-known that Kumble took a memorable 10 for 74 in India's 212-run win over Pakistan in the Delhi Test in 1999. Prior to the much-awaited face-off in Chennai, Fulton stated that he is excited about the big-ticket clash but played down the hype saying Harmanpreet &amp; Co. need to 'back their own structure and training' and look to keep improving.

Very excited about this, especially at this stage of the tournament. It is an important game. We need to play the game and not the occasion. It brings its own pressure but you got to back your own structure and training and look to improve in areas where we need to."

The 48-year-old Fulton opened up on the Pakistan line-up and said, "Yeah, they are in a nice rebuilding stage. As every national team does, they are in a rebuilding stage and a team to watch out for."

It is to be noted that the Men in Green are in a spot of bother in the continental tournament. They need to win to guarantee a spot in the last four. A defeat would leave their fate on the result of the China-Japan tie. If they lose to India, Pakistan will hope for China's win. Incase Japan outplays China, the victory of the margin should be lesser. In addition, Pakistan will hope for Malaysia to go past&nbsp;South Korea by a handsome margin to benefit their chances.

Talking about India's run and the fitness standards, the South African said, "In four games, we have scored 16 goals. Putting back-to-back performances has been tough. After a lengthy delay, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has&nbsp;announced the final schedule of the Asia Cup 2023 on Wednesday (July 19). The forthcoming edition will be held in a hybrid model, with Pakistan hosting four games, and Colombo and Kandy in Sri Lanka to be venues for nine matches, as the continental tournament will kick off on August 30 with the final scheduled to be played on September 17.&nbsp;

India, Pakistan and Nepal are in Group A whereas Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan are in Group B. The top two teams from both groups will proceed to the Super Four. The top two from the Super Four will then lock horns in the summit clash in mid-September. This time around, the tournament will be held in the ODI format -- mainly to serve as a dress rehearsal for the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 in India in October-November. Ever since the fixtures were out, there is a lot of excitement among fans as many expect arch-rivals India and Pakistan to meet thrice in the upcoming edition.

Both sides will meet on September 02 and can possibly meet after eight days, on September 10, and also in the final. Ahead of his side's face-off versus India, Pakistan great Waqar Younis backed Babar Azam &amp; Co. to beat Rohit Sharma-led Team India.&nbsp;

"Play well as simple as that," advised Waqar -- while speaking at the Asia Cup trophy unveiling programme in Lahore on Wednesday&nbsp;-- Team Pakistan when asked about what should be their&nbsp;strategy for big games.

On Pakistan's chances versus the Men in Blue, Waqar said, "In our time, we did not win many major tournaments against India. But the good thing is that these boys have started winning against India in big matches recently. That's a good sign. The monkey is off the back now. So, given the talent we have in our team, if we play to our potential, I don't see any reason why they can't beat India. It doesn't matter where they play. If we can beat them at The Oval (talking about the 2017 Champions Trophy where Pakistan thrashed India by 180 runs in the final), we can beat them anywhere. Talent is there, just go out there and play like we are tigers. Let's put it that way."

In Asia Cup 2022, played in the T20I format, India and Pakistan met twice with both teams winning a game each. Even during the last edition, many expected both sides to meet thrice but India bowed out in the Super Four whereas Sri Lanka beat Men in Green in the final by 23 runs.

Pakistan Cricket Board’s interim chairman Najam Sethi could opt for a ‘hybrid model’ for the upcoming Asia Cup 2023 while also narrating that the same should be implemented for the ODI World Cup. Sethi, who is handed an extension to his interim tenure earlier, suggested that they could allow India to play at a neutral venue in the Asia Cup while the same should be implemented for the ODI World Cup later in the year.

"We have been advised to play the Asia Cup at a neutral venue and also go to India for the World Cup,” Sethi said while not hinting at where the proposal came from.

"We feel this hybrid experiment can also be applied when it is time for the World Cup," Sethi said.

"Our stance is that everything should be on a reciprocal basis. In the old times, yes, there were security issues in Pakistan. But now there are no issues, so what is India's excuse for not playing in Pakistan?"

India has strongly hinted that they will not travel to Pakistan for the Asia Cup later in the year and have asked for a neutral venue to stage their matches. The diplomatic relations between the nations have been in hot water in recent years, with India’s last visit to Pakistan coming in June 2008 in the Asia Cup.

Sethi, whose tenure was set to expire as the interim boss on Saturday, will be given an extension of two to four weeks. While could succeed as the new permanent head, he still feels India could come to Pakistan for the 2025 Champions Trophy.

"We have been told that, maybe, the ice will keep on melting - if this happens when the Champions Trophy is held in Pakistan in 2025, India would consider playing in Pakistan," Sethi said at a press interaction.

"Our government has imposed no restrictions about playing against India," Sethi said.

"But I can say right now that the public mood is: we are not needy and we can stand on our own feet financially and we want to play cricket with India honourably. We are also negotiating with the ACC."

The Asia Cup 2023 will get underway in Pakistan in September with six teams participating in the continental event. While the format will remain the same for groups, the fixtures will be played in 50 overs. Both India and Pakistan will be grouped together and could meet three times while Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and one team will be identified after the qualifiers, which are currently underway in Nepal.

Recently, he asked for the International Cricket Council's (ICC) intervention to look into the BCCI vs PCB spat as the Indian cricket board recently said, in the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) meeting, that&nbsp;they won't get government clearance to travel to Pakistan and have made all other boards understand its stance.

Miandad, however, didn't mince his words and lashed out at his neighbouring country by saying 'India can go to hell' if they do not want to come to Pakistan for the continental tournament later this year. While his comments upset many Indians, and also a few from his own country, the former batter has now clarified his remark on Asia Cup row.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Miandad said, "Do you know what hell means? If you don’t want to play just don’t. We don’t have a problem. Ask the Indian cricketers. They’ll also say that there should be cricket between these two teams in their respective countries. It’ll benefit both nations."
