Kohli struggled recently for a year or year and a half because he is a bottom-handed player, and when these players fail it lasts longer. Babar is technically more sound but Kohli has more shots than him. However, Babar makes good use of his limited shots."

Naveed, who represented Pakistan in nine Tests, 74 ODIs and four T20Is, went on to make a big claim and added, "If I was in my old rhythm, then between the two I can get Kohli out easily. I had good outswing so I would have gotten him caught at slips or the wicketkeeper."

Opting to bowl first, India rode on Arshdeep Singh and Hardik Pandya's three-for each to restrict Pakistan at 159 for 8. In reply, India were on the back foot and reduced to 31 for 4 before Virat Kohli's masterclass (82 not out) and Hardik Pandya's 40 (37) to chase down the target on the last delivery of the contest.

With conditions ideal for football, things got heated as Indian coach Stimac stopped Pakistan from taking a throw-in which resulted in an altercation. This made the players angry and saw a reaction come out from the Pakistan players. The heated battle resulted in yellow cards for Sandesh Jhinghan of India and Nabi of Pakistan. The referee would later produce a red card to Indian coach Stimac for attempting to stop the play and consequently faced a touchline ban for the rest of the contest.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Najam Sethi vowed that Pakistan may not travel to India in the ODI World Cup if their high-voltage clash takes place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. It is suggested that Pakistan are reluctant to travel to India if they avoid coming to their land for the Asia Cup 2023 in September.

"When I heard that the Pakistan match was to be in Ahmedabad, I smiled and said to myself – ‘this is one way to make sure we don’t come to India’. I mean if you’d said Chennai or Kolkata, it might have made sense," Sethi told Indian Express.

"I don’t want to go into the politics of it but certainly there seems to be a political angle to this because if there’s one city where we might have security issues, it’s Ahmedabad. And therefore, I think the less said about that, the better. It gave the impression that this was a red herring that was thrown in our way to tell us, ‘hey, we are going to play you in Ahmedabad and you watch out. You know who rules Ahmedabad," he added.

Pakistan could be given a major blow in the coming days as Sri Lanka could host the Asia Cup.

The Asia Cup is all set to be hosted by Pakistan in September but there is no official word on whether they have been dropped as hosts. India has strongly hinted that they will not travel to Pakistan for the Asia Cup later in the year and have asked for a neutral venue to stage their matches. The diplomatic relations between the nations have been in hot water in recent years, with India’s last visit to Pakistan coming in June 2008 in the Asia Cup.

Sethi, whose tenure was set to expire as the interim boss on Saturday, will be given an extension of two to four weeks. While could succeed as the new permanent head, he still feels India could come to Pakistan for the 2025 Champions Trophy.

"We have been told that, maybe, the ice will keep on melting - if this happens when the Champions Trophy is held in Pakistan in 2025, India would consider playing in Pakistan," Sethi said at a press interaction.

"Our government has imposed no restrictions about playing against India," Sethi said.

"But I can say right now that the public mood is: we are not needy and we can stand on our own feet financially and we want to play cricket with India honourably. We are also negotiating with the ACC."

The Asia Cup 2023 will get underway in Pakistan in September with six teams participating in the continental event. While the format will remain the same for groups, the fixtures will be played in 50 overs. Both India and Pakistan will be grouped together and could meet three times while Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and one team will be identified after the qualifiers, which are currently underway in Nepal.

Before that, former Pakistan all-rounder and captain Shahid Afridi reacted to the whole controversy and feels even ICC won't be able to do anything if BCCI remain firm on not sending India to Pakistan.

Speaking on&nbsp;Samaa TV, Afridi said, "If anyone is unable to stand on his own feet and then the decision to make such strong calls is not easy. They have to look at plenty of things. India agar aankhe dikha raha hain (If India is threatening), or taking such strong stance, then they have made themselves that strong, hence they are being able to talk like this, otherwise they wouldn’t have the courage. At the end it’s making yourself strong and then take decisions."

Afridi further opined, "I have no idea, will India visit Pakistan for the Asia Cup? Will we boycott the ODI World Cup in India? But we need to take a stand at some point or the other. In this case ICC’s role becomes crucial, they should come forward, but let me say it even ICC won’t be able to do anything in front of BCCI."

It remains to be seen where the Asia Cup will be held this year. In 2022, Sri Lanka remained the host while the tournament was shifted to the UAE where the Islanders won the championship, beating Pakistan by 22 runs in the final.&nbsp;

In the recently-held Asian Cricket Council (ACC) meeting in Bahrain, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah revealed that they will not get government clearance to send the national side to Pakistan -- due to Indo-Pak's strained political relations -- and urged other boards to understand their situation. While BCCI have made its stance clear, PCB have also threatened to boycott the 2023 ODI World Cup -- to be held in India -- later this year. In all likelihood, the BCCI-PCB row won't end anytime soon and it has become a huge talking point. The continental tournament is likely to be held in a different country, but PCB will remain the hosts, and a final call on the venue will be taken next month. Before that, former Pakistan all-rounder and captain Shahid Afridi reacted to the whole controversy and feels even ICC won't be able to do anything if BCCI remain firm on not sending India to Pakistan. Speaking on Samaa TV, Afridi said, "If anyone is unable to stand on his own feet and then the decision to make such strong calls is not easy. They have to look at plenty of things. India agar aankhe dikha raha hain (If India is threatening), or taking such strong stance, then they have made themselves that strong, hence they are being able to talk like this, otherwise they wouldn’t have the courage. At the end it’s making yourself strong and then take decisions." Pakistan great Javed Miandad blasted India for refusing to travel to Pakistan for this year's Asia Cup. Recently, he asked for the International Cricket Council's (ICC) intervention to look into the BCCI vs PCB spat as the Indian cricket board recently said, in the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) meeting, that&nbsp;they won't get government clearance to travel to Pakistan and have made all other boards understand its stance.

Miandad, however, didn't mince his words and lashed out at his neighbouring country by saying 'India can go to hell' if they do not want to come to Pakistan for the continental tournament later this year. While his comments upset many Indians, and also a few from his own country, the former batter has now clarified his remark on Asia Cup row.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Miandad said, "Do you know what hell means? If you don’t want to play just don’t. We don’t have a problem. Ask the Indian cricketers. They’ll also say that there should be cricket between these two teams in their respective countries. It’ll benefit both nations."

Miandad added, “If they think that their (India) not coming to Pakistan makes any difference, let me tell you that it doesn’t. That’s what I meant. We are independent. Miandad also reflected on the previous tours and the love and respect between players from both countries. He recalled, "Earlier we used to go there and then they used to come here. It had a very good impact on the relationships between the two countries.”

A final call on Asia Cup venue is expected to be taken in March 2023. PCB have remained firm on their stance to boycott 2023 ODI World Cup, in India, if Asia Cup is moved out of their country.

India and Pakistan last played a short bilateral white-ball series back in 2012 in India and the last Test series dates back to 2007.
