The left-handed batting pair added 14 runs to the overall tally, with Broad even hitting a six off Mitchell Starc - his last in international cricket. Broad and Anderson, for the last time together, opened the bowling, much to loud cheers from the crowd. Though the pair started well, Warner and Khawaja deployed a cautious approach, realising what was at stake. Both batters began finding boundaries as Captain Ben Stokes brought off-spinners Moeen Ali and Joe Root into the attack.

While Moeen was not supposed to participate in this Test after suffering a suspected groin injury while batting in the first innings, he took the field on day four after contributing 29 with the bat in England's second innings.

He, however, kept the openers at bay but failed to provide any breakthrough as Warner and Khawaja crossed the 100-run mark. Some steamy bouncers from Mark Wood and a tight-line spell by Chris Woakes kept the slip cordon interested.

At 135-0, when players took drinks, the rain came down, and the game halted. While Aussies waited keenly for the rain to stop playing spoilsport, a few days after wishing for the same during the previous Test, England was happy knowing Australia's momentum would break now.

As things stand, on Stuart Broad's last day in international cricket, unless rain again comes down, both teams will fight for the win. While Australia need another 249 runs to win, England need ten wickets to stand tall and level the series.

For the nth time this series, Warner began well but failed to convert it to a big score, getting out on 24, thus raising pressure on him and questions around his selection.

McGrath, perhaps cricket’s greatest, let alone Australia’s, thinks if Warner doesn’t come up with something magnificent with the bat in the second innings, he might not play Test cricket again.

“There’s a bit of pressure on Dave Warner,” McGrath said on SENQ Breakfast. “He looked ok (in the first innings at the Oval) but then got out again. To be honest, I think, unfortunately, that maybe it’s coming towards the end of his career."

McGrath said knowing Warner has expressed his desire to play till next home summer and hang his boots from Tests at his home ground in Sydney (against Pakistan), his performances are not helping him much. The veteran seamer added how Warner is middling the ball – which, to McGrath, looked fine. But the left-hander hasn’t converted those into daddy scores, which eventually put the middle order under some pressure.

“I know he came out the other day and said he wanted to play it to the end of next summer. But I think the pressure is on him; the vultures are circling. Unless he comes out in the second dig and produces a big score, I think he might struggle,” McGrath said.

“Unfortunately, he’s got a lot of starts this series and then just gets out. He had that big innings back in Australia on Boxing Day where he got the 200, but there hasn’t been a sort of real big score before or after that for quite some time,” McGrath added.

Meanwhile, as things stand, Australia is 61 for one, trailing behind by 222 runs with nine wickets in hand.

The Ashes 2023 has not been a memorable series&nbsp;for Warner. After four Tests, he has a top score of 66 and averages a poor 25.12. He will be desperate to make it count in the final Test with Pat Cummins &amp; Co. having a golden opportunity to win their first-ever away Ashes series since 2001 (they have already retained the urn with a 2-1 lead after the drawn Test in Manchester).

Warner &amp; Co. will take inspiration from their performance at The Oval, when they beat India in the WTC final, in early June, to win the coveted Test mace.

After winning the WTC final at The Oval, Australia will be on cloud nine if they also win Ashes 2023 at the same venue versus Ben Stokes &amp; Co. "He's been out there over the last couple of days putting in a lot of work, but I think this tour he has shown a lot of good signs and hasn't quite kicked on to make that big score. Some of those innings he's played under really tough circumstances has made it easy for [Steven] Smith to come in and score runs, or the like."

Australia, however, have a selection dilemma at their disposal after Marsh scored a century and took crucial wickets in third Test as Green's replacement. The only condition where both the all-rounders can play is spinner Todd Murphy going out, given Warner retains his place. Keeping Murphy out would mean that Australia will have an all-pace attack with Travis Head as back up.

"Every situation is different," Cummins said of the final playing XI. "We've played games with one quick; we've played some games with heaps of quicks. It's all really conditions based. As I said last week about Toddy, I would have loved to bowl him a bit more but there wasn't a heap of overs in the game, the ball seemed to swing and seam a little bit, so that's certainly something to weigh up this week."

Australia currently lead the five-Test series 2-1.

Warner, who was dismissed by Broad third time in the series on second day of the ongoing Headingley Test, was called out by former England captain Mike Atherton for his 'nightmare' of series.

"It’s troubling to watch. He’s definitely struggling to pick up length. He was caught on the crease to a ball that he really should have been committing forward to," said Ferguson.

The former Aussie batter, however, said that Australia might play him in the next match but his value is definitely going down.

“I think we play him again, but certainly his selection value at the moment is teetering,” added Ferguson.

As for the third Test, Australia currently are 142 runs ahead in the second innings with six wickets left. With three days left in the Test, England, trailing 0-2 in the five-match series, would definitely be looking bowl Kangaroos out cheaply and stay alive in the series.

Warner was in the pick of things from the word go as he caught Joe Root on the second ball of the day to get the better of the former England captain. The hosts then lost wickets at regular intervals and were 87/5 before Ben Stokes once again dramatically rescued the team. It was likely that England could hand Australia a major lead at the end of the first innings.

Stokes played a remarkable knock of 80 runs before he was dismissed by Todd Murphy as England were bowled out for 237 and only trailed the Aussies by 26 runs.

At Tea, it was 11/1 for Australia with Warner being the only batter dismissed as the visitors led by 37 runs in the second innings.

Following a mediocre outing in the first Test in Edgbaston, Warner returned to playing positively in this game, even surprising Broad with a paddle sweep off his delivery early inside the first hour. However, even before the game started, Warner suffered a few blows to his hands during the throwdowns and once while batting in the nets. Earlier, during the India Test in Delhi in February, he got a knock to his hand off Mohammed Shami's rising bouncer that ruled him out of the remainder of the India tour. "It's copped a battering the last two games, and in the nets, so it's a little bit sore at the moment, a bit of a bruise but I'll just see how we go after the game, and I think we'll examine it then," Warner said. "At the moment it's quite tender. "[I was] never in doubt, [but] it was quite sore. Initially, it was more in the palm, I've got a hotspot where my thumb is and every time the ball hits the bat it just jars. Then today I got hit back in the knuckle, which I think Mohammed Shami hit me [on] in that World Test Championship. "I've had my hand in an ice bucket all afternoon, so we'll play it by ear and assess it after the game," the veteran batter added. Warner nearing his best form Having already announced his retirement plans ahead of the away Ashes, Warner said the past six to eight months have been better in terms of him being in good form and the right space. Besides using his hands well, which he does quite often, Warner said feels his feet movement helped the cause too. Although he hasn’t scored a big total in this format lately, with him feeling confident about his game, Warner is sure a game-changing knock is just around the corner. "I've felt in total control the last six to eight months with where my game is. I'm moving into the ball, my feet are moving, not just playing with my hands," he said. "I felt like I was onto something special in the World Test Championship final. And then the last game, the same thing. I feel like everything I'm putting in the nets is actually coming out there in the middle. Broad's twin strikes cracked the game wide open for England who were dismissed for 273 in their second innings.

Australia opener David Warner, meanwhile, has said that his team won't go into shell. He's also confident of Australia going long in the game if they are patient enough.&nbsp;

“For us it’s about going out there and playing the way that you play. You can’t go into your shell. The positive thing is the wicket isn’t going up and down as much as you’d think from a deteriorating wicket, probably on the lower side. If we keep being patient and we keep looking to score, we’ll go a long way in this game,” said Warner in a conversation with SEN cricket.

There, however, are chances of rain on day 5 but Warner looks unperturbed by that as he 'can't control that.'

"For me I've always played every game as if it's my last," Warner said. "That's my style of cricket. I enjoy being around the guys, I love being part of the team, trying to be that ball of energy in the group. I want to just keep working as hard as I can to get there."

"I want to play that 2024 World Cup, it's something at the backend of my mind. We've got a lot of cricket before that. And then I think it stops from February. For me, then I have to play the IPL, some of the other franchise leagues and then get into the rhythm to play that, in June. Will be a bit of cricket around to play," he added.

Warner is one of the best Test openers of all time with 8,158 runs to his name in 103 matches with 25 hundreds and an average of 45.57. The player, however, has been in a rut with just two fifties and a hundred in last 24 innings since 2022.

I actually felt disrespected in the way that I wasn't able to actually have a clear mind to play the game and concentrate on the game,” he stated.

Warner has since served a ban and made a successful return to the side and was a pivotal figure in the 2021 T20 World Cup-winning side. He also helped Australia win the Ashes in 2022-23 but has since been struggling with form in the last few months.

“So, from that perspective, it wasn't even like, 'Oh, let's stop and we'll come back to this.' It was nine months, it was launched in February (2022). I was extremely disappointed," Warner added.

While Neser’s credentials in the English conditions speak for themselves, Ponting feels Boland's successive run in the past 12 months will help him succeed in the UK. "He (Neser) will be a terrific bowler in English conditions. We have already seen that in County cricket," Ponting said. "He's perfectly suited to those conditions. He was probably a little bit unlucky not to be named in this squad right from the start, and certainly even in the Ashes squad, right from the start, just with the conditions. "Neser has just come off some wickets. He got a very good hundred as well in the second innings of that last County game that they played. He's one of those no-fuss sorts of guys that is a very skilful player, and the skill set that he has is actually very well suited to England," Ponting added. Delhi Capitals skipper David Warner had an awful season as his team not only failed to qualify for the playoffs but only managed five wins in 14 matches. The Australian, however, had a great season with the bat as he scored more than 500 runs in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 and hit six fifties as well.

Warner is also the sixth-highest run-scorer in IPL 2023 with 516 runs at an average of 36.86 but with a slower strike rate of 131. Warner's slower strike rate, however, can, in part, be attributed to the failure of other batsmen, including Prithvi Shaw who failed miserably this season.

<h2>Warner sets the record straight</h2>

David Warner, who scored 516 runs, crossed the 500-run mark in the IPL for the seventh time - the most by any batsman. The Aussie surpassed Virat Kohli who earlier in the league notched up his sixth 500-run season. Warner, before 2023, had scored 500 or more runs in the 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2019 and 2020 seasons.

Virat, who also has 500+ runs this season, had previously recorded such seasons in 2011, 2013, 2015, 2016 and 2018.

Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Delhi Capitals (DC) have got back most of their stolen gear, captain David Warner confirmed via Instagram on Friday. It is not known yet where the equipment was retrieved.

Delhi Capitals players learnt about their missing cricketing equipment after they landed from Bengaluru at the Delhi Airport on Wednesday. On Friday, Warner shared an Instagram story in which he showed a snapshot of numerous stolen bats and other batting equipment.

"They found the culprits. Few missing still but thank you," he wrote.

Delhi Capitals on Thursday won their first game of the season as they defeated Kolkata Knight Riders in a low-scoring thriller. The Capitals won by three wickets to end their five-match losing streak.

A collective bowling performance, where four bowlers picked up two wickets each, helped DC bowl KKR out for 127. David Warner then led from the front with the bat with 57 of 41 and Axar Patel played a crucial knock of 19* of 22 to hold his nerve and take DC past the finish line after KKR had fought back hard to take the match down the wire.

Warner had struggled with his strike-rate in previous games.

The cost of bats stolen from the foreign players' kit bags was INR 1 lakh each, as per the Indian Express. The incident came to light when the players received their respective kits after coming back from Bangalore. The matter was escalated soon to the franchise officials who then raised a official complaint.&nbsp;

“All of them were shocked when they heard that everyone had lost something or the other from their kit bags. This is the first time such an incident has happened and the matter was soon raised to the logistics department, police and later at the airport. The investigation is on,” a Delhi Capitals source confirmed to the Indian Express.

Speaking to the media outlet, DCP (Airport) Devesh Kumar Mahla said that they were informed about the incident on Tuesday evening when two people came to IGI airport to report the mass stealing.

“Our duty officer asked them to write a complaint with all the details and gave them a paper. They said that they would get all the details and will file a complaint. Appropriate legal action would be taken,” DCP Mahla said.

While DC managed to conduct a practice session on Tuesday, the players have contacted their agents for the new bats in the meantime. Delhi play their next match against Kolkata Knight Riders on April 20.
