IPL 2020: Shubman Gill breaks twin records after match-winning knock vs Sunrisers Hyderabad

<p>Sunrisers Hyderabad captain David Warner was critical of the ‘dot balls’ played by his team’s batsman during the <a href="https://www.wionews.com/ipl">Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 </a>against Kolkata Knight Riders on Saturday at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. <p>Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have had a torrid start to their <a href="https://www.wionews.com/ipl">Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020</a>&nbsp;losing two out of their three matches in the campaign. While plenty of questions have been raised on the form of top-order batsmen, fans have called for the return of Suresh Raina, who opted out of IPL 2020 due to ‘personal reasons’.&nbsp;</p>

<p>CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan has ruled out the possibility of Raina’s return in the CSK camp for IPL 2020 as he said they need to respect his decision of pulling out of IPL 2020 and the CSK management is not thinking about it.</p>

<p>"See, we cannot look at Raina because he made himself unavailable and we respect his decision and his space. We are not thinking about it,” CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan told ANI.</p>

<p>CSK started strong with a win against Mumbai Indians in the opener but have since lost two matches on the bounce – against RCB and DC – which have raised major concerns surrounding the form and rhythm of the players.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have had a horrendous start to their <a href="https://www.wionews.com/ipl">Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020</a> as the MS Dhoni-led outfit has now lost two of their three games following their crushing 44-run defeat to Delhi Capitals on Friday. MS Dhoni has raised concerns regarding the form and rhythm of the batsmen and openers as he said failure to gain momentum from the start is hurting CSK in IPL 2020.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The likes of Shane Watson and Murali Vijay have failed to impress at the top with no important partnership right at the top for CSK. The scoring rate of top order batsmen, especially openers, have also raised some eyebrows.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“I feel when it comes to the batting department, we are lacking a bit of steam. There is no momentum right from the start, which hurts. If you are already chasing 160-plus, the run-rate keeps mounting and it puts added pressure on the middle-order batsmen. So we need to figure that out,” said Dhoni.</p>

<p>"I think we were good in the middle phase with the ball, they got off to a decent start and we pulled things back nicely," said Kohli on Star Sports after the match. Indian cricketing legend Sunil Gavaskar has found himself in a controversy following his comments on Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma during Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020.

Bollywood actress and wife of Kohli, Anushka later took to social media Instagram to send a strong message to Gavaskar. However, Gavaskar’s comments was not taken well by Kohli and Anushka’s fans as they slammed the former Indian captain on social media platform Twitter. While Kohli dropped two easy catches of centurion KL Rahul in the match, he failed to make a mark with his willow and was dismissed off just one run. Gavaskar during the match allegedly said: “Inhone lockdown me to bas Anushka ki bowling ki practice ki hain". (Virat Kohli has only trained against Anushka’s bowling during the lockdown). IPL 2020: Record-breaking KL Rahul says he wasn't 'feeling in control' about his batting before RCB match

<p class="MsoNormal">Kings XI Punjab on Thursday registered a thumping win over Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Dubai International Stadium in Dubai as they won the match by 97 runs to clinch their first win of <a href="https://www.wionews.com/ipl">Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020</a>.&nbsp;</p>

<p class="MsoNormal">KL Rahul was the star for KXIP with the willow as he hammered an unbeaten 132 laced with 14 boundaries and seven sixes. Rahul’s 132 not-out became the highest-ever score by an Indian cricketer in IPL and also the highest-ever score by a captain in IPL as the KXIP skipper registered the first century of IPL 2020 in style.&nbsp;</p>

<p class="MsoNormal">While Mayank Agarwal, Nicholas Pooran and Karun Nair played some handy knocks, it was Rahul who dominated the show as he smashed the RCB bowlers all over the park. RCB’s bowling has to be deemed as poor with the likes of Umesh Yadav and Dale Steyn spraying it all over the pitch. KXIP went on to post a mammoth target of 206/3 in 20 overs.&nbsp;</p>

<p class="MsoNormal">Chasing RCB, under pressure, lost opener Devdutt Padikkal for cheap before losing Joshua Philippe and Virat Kohli for duck and one respectively as Sheldon Cottrell and Mohammed Shami wreaked havoc with the new ball.&nbsp;</p>

After that it was all about saving the Net Run-Rate for RCB as Washington Sundar slammed a 27-ball 30 to take RCB over 100-run mark.&nbsp;</p>

<p class="MsoNormal">Nonetheless, the defeat will hurt RCB, who came into the match by defeating CSK, as their net-run-rate took a heavy beating. Whereas KXIP, who lost their first match to DC in Super Over, will look to carry forward the momentum in their next encounters in IPL 2020.<br />

Kings XI Punjab on Thursday registered a thumping win over Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Dubai International Stadium in Dubai as they won the match by 97 runs to clinch their first win of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020. KL Rahul was the star for KXIP with the willow as he hammered an unbeaten 132 laced with 14 boundaries and seven sixes. Rahul’s 132 not-out became the highest-ever score by an Indian cricketer in IPL and also the highest-ever score by a captain in IPL as the KXIP skipper registered the first century of IPL 2020 in style. While Mayank Agarwal, Nicholas Pooran and Karun Nair played some handy knocks, it was Rahul who dominated the show as he smashed the RCB bowlers all over the park. RCB’s bowling has to be deemed as poor with the likes of Umesh Yadav and Dale Steyn spraying it all over the pitch. KXIP went on to post a mammoth target of 206/3 in 20 overs. ALSO READ: Exclusive: Don't want my game to be limited to googlys, says Kings XI Punjab's Ravi Bishnoi Chasing RCB, under pressure, lost opener Devdutt Padikkal for cheap before losing Joshua Philippe and Virat Kohli for duck and one respectively as Sheldon Cottrell and Mohammed Shami wreaked havoc with the new ball. While Aaron Finch and AB de Villiers tried to get on with the chase, it was the spin duo of Ravi Bishnoi and Murugan Ashwin who stuck to dismiss the dangerous duo. After that it was all about saving the Net Run-Rate for RCB as Washington Sundar slammed a 27-ball 30 to take RCB over 100-run mark. Nonetheless, the defeat will hurt RCB, who came into the match by defeating CSK, as their net-run-rate took a heavy beating. Whereas KXIP, who lost their first match to DC in Super Over, will look to carry forward the momentum in their next encounters in IPL 2020.

<p>As they say <a href="https://www.wionews.com/ipl">Indian Premier League (IPL)</a> is a platform where talent meets opportunity and that was once again proven when young spinner Ravi Bishnoi made the grand platform his own in what was a scintillating debut for the leggie, who was also the highest wicket-taker in the ICC Under-19 World Cup 2020 after scalping a staggering 17 dismissals off just six matches.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Bishnoi, just ahead of the U-19 World Cup, was signed by Kings XI Punjab in the IPL 2020 auction for a whopping INR 2 crore and the 20-year-old has already hit the right chords with his longish and unique run-up which enables him to use his shoulders to get that drift.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Bagging the big wicket of Rishabh Pant and bowling bravely to big names like Shimron Hetmyer and Shreyas Iyer with confidence, Bishnoi ended up with the figures of 4-0-22-1 in his debut IPL match. &nbsp;</p>

<p>“It was a great feeling out there! IPL is such a massive platform, the biggest T20 league in the world and to do well in the debut match is always huge. There are times when a bowler bowls a good spell but goes without a wicket but thankfully I scalped one against Delhi Capitals and that helped me grow in confidence,” Ravi Bishnoi told WION’s Subhayan Chakraborty in an exclusive interview.</p>
