Will Pucovski and Marcus Harris smashed double centuries to fire a message to Australia coach Justin Langer in setting a new record Sunday for the biggest partnership in Sheffield Shield history.

The pair shared in a massive 486-run opening stand for Victoria against South Australia, surpassing the previous mark of 464 set by Steve and Mark Waugh for New South Wales in 1990.

Harris, who has not played a Test since being dropped following the 2019 Ashes against England, finally fell for 239, caught behind off the bowling of Wes Agar.

It left Pucovski in the middle and he remained unbeaten on 255 when captain Peter Handscomb declared at 564 for three.

Their exploits will cause incumbent Test openers Joe Burns and David Warner to sit up and take notice, with Langer's squad for an upcoming four-Test home series against India yet to be announced.

Pucovski, one of Australia's brightest prospects, has been on the cusp of Test selection for the past two summers, but has battled mental health problems.

He was in the national set-up for Tests last summer against Sri Lanka, but after being overlooked for the first and again missing out on selection for the second he was released to return home and deal with his issues.

The 22-year-old said last week he was ready to fight for a Test spot again.

"I just feel like I'm in a really good space now, which is awesome, just in everyday life and with my cricket," he said.&nbsp;

"I don't have much control over whether they pick me or not, but I'm definitely very keen."

Plenty of questions are being raised on Rohit Sharma’s absence from the Indian squad for the upcoming tour of Australia. While Rohit had injured his hamstring while playing for Mumbai Indians in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020, he has been seen hitting the nets for his franchise, raising further questions whether Rohit will be available for the Australia tour or not. Reacting to Rohit’s omission from the Indian squad for their tour of Australia, Indian head coach Ravi Shastri said that the call taken by the selection committee upon receiving updates from the medical team.

While Rohit has not been ruled out of IPL 2020 yet, he has missed last four matches for Mumbai Indians with Kieron Pollard taking up the captaincy duties in his absence.&nbsp;

Furthermore, Team India is set to leave for Australia soon after the completion of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020, whose final is scheduled on November 10. This will be India’s first international assignment since the restart after COVID-19-enforced break.

"It's being handled by the people in charge of the medical part of it. We don't get involved in that. They have submitted a report to the selectors and they have gone about their business," said Shastri in an exclusive interaction with Times Now.

"I have no say neither I am a part of the selection committee. All I know is the medical report which says he could be in danger of injuring himself again," he added.

Interestingly, Mayank Agarwal has also been missing from Kings XI Punjab since October 20 but was named in all three squads for the Australia series.&nbsp;

Teenage defender Rayan Ait-Nouri marked his Wolves debut with a goal as the Midlands club beat Crystal Palace 2-0 at Molineux on Friday to move up into third place in the Premier League.

Victory put Wolves level on points with the leading Merseyside duo of Everton and reigning champions Liverpool ahead of the bulk of this weekend's fixtures.

France Under-21 left-back Ait-Nouri joined Wolves on a season-long loan&nbsp;-- with an option to buy -- from Ligue 1 Angers this month.

It took him just 18 minutes to open the scoring with a first-time shot.

Portuguese winger Daniel Podence doubled Wolves' lead nine minutes later, when he turned in Pedro Neto's cross from close range.

"For Rayan Ait-Nouri I am really pleased because it is the first game and what a better start can he have?" Wolves manager Nuno Espirito Santo told the BBC.

"He is 19 with a lot of things to improve. He has to get so many things on board and that's the work."

Wolves almost had a third goal before half-time as Nelson Semedo and Leander Dendoncker went close with long-range efforts.

"I think we were good but we should play better," added Nuno.&nbsp;

"We started well. We had a good team in front of us. At the end of the first half we slowed down our pressure and Palace had chances."

Meanwhile, Nuno said being deprived of their passionate fans, with spectators barred from grounds because of British government Covid-19 protocols, made home games tough for Wolves.

"It's all about the performance, the table is not important," he insisted.

"The work is important. Playing without fans requires a lot of focus, we haven't the edge of Molineux."

VAR denied Palace a penalty when Palace's Patrick van Aanholt was found to be offside, before being fouled by Willy Boly.

Palace's defeat was made worse when when Luka Milivojevic was sent off late on following a VAR review of his challenge on Wolves substitute Joao Moutinho.

Defeat left the south London side ninth in the table, with Palace manager Roy Hodgson unconvinced by Milivojevic's dismissal.

"I'm not disappointed with how the players played for most of the game," said Hodgson. "But I'm disappointed with that opening 20-minute spell."

The former England manager added: "I spoke to the referee about the red card. I made my views clear. I don't think it was a red card. It was a fair challenge."

West Indies batsman Chris Gayle has been fined for throwing his bat in frustration after missing out on a record-extending seventh IPL century by one run.

The 41-year-old, who became the first batsman in Twenty20 history to hit 1,000 sixes during his 99 innings for King's XI Punjab, was fined 10 percent of his match fee for a "code of conduct" violation, said an Indian Premier League statement.

"Mr Gayle admitted to the Level 1 offence 2.2 of the IPL's Code of Conduct and accepted the sanction," it added.

The statement did not give details of his action, but throwing bats and other equipment normally comes under this offence.

Mumbai Indians openers Quinton de Kock and Ishan Kishan started in front foot and dominated the proceedings from the word go. Even after de Kock departed following a quick-fire start, Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav continued to hurt Delhi Capitals bowlers. While QDK posted 26 off 28, Kishan stole the show with an unbeaten 72 off 47 to guide MI to a thumping nine-wicket win over DC.

Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma has missed three games for his franchise in the ongoing <a href="https://www.wionews.com/ipl">Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020</a> owing to a hamstring injury. While Rohit hasn’t been ruled out of IPL 2020, he was not picked in any of India’s squad for the upcoming Australian tour.

While plenty of questions have been raised on Rohit’s fitness dilemma, a Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) functionary has given an update on the current situation surrounding Rohit and his injury.

"Rohit will be assessed tomorrow and a call will be taken after that on whether he is good to go. As is the case with hamstring injuries, the real challenge is the sprints and the acceleration and deceleration process will be the focus to understand if he has recovered fully or will need a little more time," the functionary told news agency ANI.

While Rohit has suffered a hamstring injury, whether it is serious or not remains a mystery. Rohit continues to train with the Mumbai Indians team and is being treated by MI’s medical team in the UAE.

The functionary explained, in a hamstring injury, which isn’t a Grade II tear, a player can walk or even play normal shots but the problem is during quick sprints and running between the wickets.

"See, when you have a hamstring injury which isn't a Grade II tear, you wouldn't have a problem walking or playing normal shots. The area of concern is quick sprints or as you say running between the wickets.

This is when the focus is 100 per cent on the functionality of the hamstring muscles. So, if you have recovered completely, you wouldn't have an issue in either acceleration or deceleration."

The Indian team is expected to reach Sydney, Australia on November 12 and Rohit could still make the cut of the all-important tour if he recovers from the injury blow.

IPL 2020, DC vs MI Preview: Winner to take playoff qualification spot

The batting unit of Rajasthan Royals fired collectively to provide them with their second-straight win in the <a href="https://www.wionews.com/ipl">Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020</a>, against Kings XI Punjab on Friday, as the action continued in the T20 tournament. In what was a must-win match for RR, the Steve Smith-led outfit bagged the win with seven wickets in hand and 15 deliveries to spare.

After the crucial win, RR captain Smith said that they are peaking at the right time while adding it was nice to get over the line early as it helps the net run-rate.

“Couple of games tomorrow [on Saturday], we will be watching them closely and then will be good to go day after,” Smith said in the post-match interview.

However, Smith conceded that a couple of wins in between the tournament would have helped Rajasthan Royals’ cause as he said the team have ebbed and flowed during the course of the tournament thus far.&nbsp;

“We have sort of ebbed and flowed through the tournament. But it would have been great to win a few in the middle. But it is about peaking at the right time. We still need to do our bit. It’s nice to get over the line comfortably. It helps the net run rate,” Smith said.

Whereas Kings XI Punjab skipper KL Rahul said the dew didn’t help KXIP while making batting easier for RR in the second innings.

“It was a horrible toss to lose to be honest. It did get very easy to bat later on. There was a lot of dew in the second half and that made it a bit tough for the bowlers to grip the ball. When you're operating with two leg spinners like we are, it does make things difficult,” KL Rahul said.

“Don't think we bowled that badly but need to operate better with the wet ball. The dew has been unpredictable this season. You can't prepare for it but need to adapt to it,” the skipper added.

Ravindra Jadeja hit the last two balls for six to secure a tense morale-boosting win for Chennai Super Kings over Kolkata Knight Riders that only helped their old rivals Mumbai Indians.

The six-wicket victory for Chennai, who have failed to qualify for the IPL playoffs for the first time, meant that reigning champions Mumbai were first to claim one of the four playoff places in this year's tournament.

Nitish Rana hit 87 and Dinesh Karthik helped out with 21 from 10 balls as Kolkata made 172-5 off their 20 overs in Dubai.

Chennai made a slow start, needing 72 from Ruturaj Gaikwad, one of the young players that captain M.S. Dhoni is relying on to rejuvenate the ailing three-time champions, to keep them in the game.

Dhoni went for one run and India allrounder Jadeja came in with his side needing 33 off 16 balls.

With 10 required off the final over, Kamlesh Nagarkoti gave away only three runs off the first four balls but Jadeja then smashed two big sixes to take Chennai to 178-4 and victory.

"He has been the only batsman in our team who has taken the job of scoring in the last few overs," Dhoni said in a tribute to Jadeja, a rare performer in a disappointing season for big-spending Chennai.

Defeat for Kolkata meant Eoin Morgan's side need near rivals Rajasthan Royals and King's XI Punjab to lose games if they are to qualify.

Ace England all-rounder Ben Stokes has called fellow Rajasthan Royals (RR) wicket-keeper Jos Buttler as the most talented player he has ever played with.

In an interview with RR teammate and England pace bowler Jofra Archer, Stokes was asked about the most talented player he has played with. His reply was: "I reckon talent-wise, because of his versatility, Jos Buttler."

Stokes also said that since he didn`t have too many five-wicket hauls, he would like to take a few. "Since I don`t have too many fifers as a bowler, I`d like to have them," said Stokes when asked by Archer to pick between centuries and five-wicket hauls.

The New Zealand-born England all-rounder was in prime form last year and led England to World Cup victory as well as making an Ashes-saving 135 not out in the Test at Headingley, Leeds. The all-rounder picked the 98-ball unbeaten knock of 84 in the World Cup final as his favourite. "Both were great but I`d pick the World Cup as favourite as we had something to show for at the end," he said.

Stokes, 29, picked Mumbai Indians as the team to beat and perform against.

Archer was asked about his favourite wicket in his career and he picked Australian Travis Head from the Old Trafford Test of last year`s Ashes series.

KL Rahul on Friday joined Virat Kohli in an elusive list of players to score 600 runs twice in the history of Indian Premier League (IPL) to become only the second Indian batsman to achieve the iconic feat. Rahul, playing against Rajasthan Royals, in a crucial match in the ongoing IPL 2020 also joined an elusive list of cricketers to have scored 600 runs multiple times in IPL history.

While the likes of Chris Gayle and David Warner have scored 600-plus runs in IPL season thrice in the history of the tournament, Kohli and Rahul are only Indians to have made it to the list.&nbsp;

Gayle, also known as Universe Boss, has achieved the feat in 2011, 2012 and 2013 whereas Warner in 2016, 2017 and 2019.

Meanwhile, Kohli achieved the feat in 2013 and 2016. Rahul, on the other hand, scored 600-plus runs in 2018 and in the ongoing IPL 2020. Notably, Rahul missed the 600-run mark by just seven runs last season.

Interestingly, no Indian batsman apart from Kohli and Rahul have scored 600 runs twice in the history of IPL. Also, he becomes only the second Indian captain, after Kohli, to notch up 600 runs in multiple IPL seasons.

Interestingly, no Indian batsman apart from Kohli and Rahul have scored 600 runs twice in the history of IPL. Also, he becomes only the second Indian captain, after Kohli, to notch up 600 runs in multiple IPL seasons. Suryakumar Yadav is a name that has been around in Indian cricket for a decade but is&nbsp;doing rounds for the last couple of years in the Indian cricketing circuit. Suryakumar Yadav or ‘SKY’ as fans call him has been smashing runs for fun in the white-ball arena of Indian cricket. Be it in the Indian Premier League, Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, Deodhar Trophy, even DY Patil T20 or for India A, Suryakumar Yadav’s relentless will to score runs has come out strong, especially in the last couple of years.&nbsp;

The right-handed batsman is being hailed as India’s Mr 360 along with KL Rahul, at the moment. Is it only now when SKY has hit the headlines for his batting? No.

SKY came into the scene in 2010 when he made his debut for Mumbai in Ranji Trophy and ended up topping the run-scoring charts for his team in that particular season. Like every athlete, his career has faced highs and lows but that hasn’t stopped him from killing his hunger for runs.

An innovative, attacking batsman, Suryakumar has the finesse of playing strokes all around the park. While his lean and athletic physique may give a first-look that he doesn’t have the power to clear the fence but if you follow his batting for a longer time, it will be crystal clear that he has all the power in the world to clear any boundary rope – which he has shown in the last few seasons. His breathtaking timing is just another trait of his batting.

But SKY has been overlooked by the Indian selectors time and time again – exclusion from the upcoming Australia tour is just another disappointment that the Mumbai star had to face in his career. After he smashed an unbeaten 79 off 43 deliveries to help Mumbai Indians seal a comfortable win against Royal Challengers Bangalore in Indian Premier League, a tweet from Indian head coach Ravi Shastri followed.&nbsp;

“Surya namaskar. Stay strong and patient @surya_14kumar #MIvsRCB” tweeted Shastri just after the conclusion of MI vs RCB on October 28.&nbsp;

While Shastri’s message clearly hinted that he is strongly in contention for the Indian team, then why not utilize his form in the biggest of series – against Australia? If a head coach can praise a player for his form on Twitter then why not reward him with a dream Team India call-up? If Varun Chakravarthy, who has played just one First-Class match can make it to the Indian squad, then what wrong has Suryakumar Yadav done?

SKY was not picked under the regime of former chief selector MSK Prasad, surely the same case can't be repeated under new chief selector Sunil Joshi?

Arguments can be put forward by saying the Indian line-up is packed but aren’t the likes of Shreyas Iyer, Manish Pandey too similar kind of players for number four and five in the T20I set-up for the Men in Blue? Both Iyer and Pandey haven’t done anything wrong to be dropped but ultimately, it is about the betterment of the team and its balance. SKY has a better range to bat at number 6, has the power to finish games for India and more importantly is going through the form of his life. People saying Manish Pandey remained not-out in all the matches against New Zealand, he faced 12, 6, 36 and 4 balls at number six against New Zealand and didn’t bat in the second T20I.&nbsp;

If IPL is the parameter to pick squads for all the formats (KL Rahul for Tests, Varun Chakravarthy for T20Is) then why can’t Surykumar Yadav, at least make it for the T20I squad? Sanju Samson was picked in the T20I&nbsp;squad even when he has failed to put up consistent performances in IPL 2020. His performances in the domestic season are also patchy. What wrong has Suryakumar Yadav done then?

In IPL 2018, SKY smashed 512 runs at an average of 36 and strike-rate of 133.3. In IPL 2019, he scored 424 runs in 16 matches at an average of 32.61 and strike-rate of 130.86. So far in IPL 2020, he has hammered 362 runs in 12 matches at an average of 40.22&nbsp;and strike-rate of 155.36.&nbsp;

His cricketing journey and stats aren’t limited to IPL, unlike some big-name players, in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2018-19, Suryakumar smashed 360 runs in 10 matches at an average of 51.42 and strike-rate of 145.16. And he followed up in the next edition with 392 runs in 11 matches with 56 average and 168 strike-rate.&nbsp;

Talk about Deodhar Trophy 2018-19, Surkyakumar Yadav scored 134 runs in three matches at an average of 67 and strike-rate of 134. In 2019-20 edition, SKY smashed a 72 not-out in one of the three matches he played in the tournament and ended up with an average of 42.50 and strike-rate of 157.40.&nbsp;

Suryakumar Yadav’s numbers with the willow and his performances will continue to stagger the fans but at the same time, his non-selection in the Indian team will leave everyone baffled.&nbsp;

If the Indian head coach is the benchmark of motivating people in the Indian camp then he should be the first one to ask for his inclusion, at least in the Indian T20I side. Not because SKY has been touching the sky with his batting just because he has knocked the door for too long and backed it with performances for whichever team he has played for.

And if you want to bring up his mental strength, then the way he kept his nerves despite seeing the captain of the Indian team walk towards him during the MI vs RCB and then win the match for his franchise should be a good enough reason to clear the air. Let alone the struggle of scoring runs for fun in the domestic circuit.&nbsp;

Sanju Samson was picked in the T20I squad even when he has failed to put up consistent performances in IPL 2020. His performances in the domestic season are also patchy. What wrong has Suryakumar Yadav done then? In IPL 2019, he scored 424 runs in 16 matches at an average of 32.61 and strike-rate of 130.86. So far in IPL 2020, he has hammered 362 runs in 12 matches at an average of 40.22 and strike-rate of 155.36. His cricketing journey and stats aren’t limited to IPL, unlike some big-name players, in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2018-19, Suryakumar smashed 360 runs in 10 matches at an average of 51.42 and strike-rate of 145.16. And he followed up in the next edition with 392 runs in 11 matches with 56 average and 168 strike-rate. Talk about Deodhar Trophy 2018-19, Surkyakumar Yadav scored 134 runs in three matches at an average of 67 and strike-rate of 134. In 2019-20 edition, SKY smashed a 72 not-out in one of the three matches he played in the tournament and ended up with an average of 42.50 and strike-rate of 157.40. Suryakumar Yadav’s numbers with the willow and his performances will continue to stagger the fans but at the same time, his non-selection in the Indian team will leave everyone baffled. And if you want to bring up his mental strength, then the way he kept his nerves despite seeing the captain of the Indian team walk towards him during the MI vs RCB and then win the match for his franchise should be a good enough reason to clear the air. Let alone the struggle of scoring runs for fun in the domestic circuit. ☀️ He came 👀 He s̶a̶w̶ stared 💪🏻 He conquered#OneFamily #MumbaiIndians #MI #Dream11IPL #MIvRCB @surya_14kumar pic.twitter.com/1D8oq3Tkp4 — Mumbai Indians (@mipaltan) October 29, 2020 ×

Royal Challengers Bangalore foraying into E-gaming

Mumbai Indian beats Royal Challengers Bangalore by 5 wickets, with 5 balls to spare, in Match 48 of the <a href="https://www.wionews.com/ipl">Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020</a>, at Abu Dhabi. Devdutt Padikkal’s 45-ball 74 first helped Bangalore reach 164/6. They could have scored more, had Jasprit Bumrah (4-1-14-3) not pegged them back with a double-wicket maiden in the 17th over before conceding just 5 in the 19th. Suryakumar Yadav (79* in 43) then saw Mumbai home.

Michael Vaughan was all in praise of Yadav in My11 Circle Cricbuzz Live: “Suryakumar Yadav was as good as it gets … He hit a boundary whenever he wished. He played cricket shots. There was not really a huge amount of funky [shots], they were just real high-class cricket strokes. Of all the players in the IPL this year, I don’t think I have seen a player play spin with so much ease … Anytime you feel he can hit the boundary.”

Despite his stellar show this season, Yadav has been left out of India’s T20I squad for the Australia tour later this year. Commenting on that, Simon Doull said: “All you can do is continually put your name in the selectors’ minds. There might be some on the bus, on the plane, ahead of you, but if you continually bang that door, at some stage they kind of have to open it up, they have to let you in … He cannot be far away from an India cap.”

Vaughan praised Padikkal: “He is high-class. I am pretty sure within the next few years we will see plenty of him. Not just in the IPL, but he will get international colours … He can go with the pressure, he has got nice awareness of the game situation, he plays spin nicely as well (which you should expect) and also plays the quicks with calmness and control. Unfortunately for the rest of the world, India has found another batsman.” Doull mentioned that Padikkal is also a brilliant slip fielder.

IPL 2020: Suryakumar Yadav was as good as it gets, says Michael Vaughan

Mumbai Indians batsman Suryakumar Yadav produced another match-winning knock in the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Wednesday, prompting many to question his absence from India’s limited-overs squads for the upcoming tour of Australia.

Yadav is among the 12 batsmen who have scored 350-plus runs in this year’s IPL and his 155-plus strike rate is second only to Mayank Agarwal in that group.

Two days after the Indian squads for Australia were announced, the 30-year-old smashed an unbeaten 79 in Mumbai Indians’ five-wicket victory against Royal Challengers Bangalore led by India captain Virat Kohli.

Former India spinner Harbhajan Singh was among those who had questioned Yadav’s omission from Australia tour.

“Don’t know what else @surya_14kumar needs to do get picked in the team India ... different people different rules I guess. I request all the selectors to see his records,” Singh tweeted on Tuesday.

After Yadav’s “class” innings against Bangalore, the 40-year-old tweeted “hope selectors are watching him play...”

Mumbai captain Kieron Pollard said Yadav just needed to be patient for his India call-up.

“Deep down inside, he must be very disappointed not getting to don the blue for India but I’m sure he’s very, very close,” Pollard said after Wednesday’s win.

“He’s done some amazing things for us as a franchise, and the most he can do is continue to let the bat talk and score more runs for us and take us all the way.

“If he continues to be this consistent then at some point in time, you are going to get rewarded. Nothing happens before its time, and long may it continue for us as a franchise.”

At least Yadav’s latest effort did not go unnoticed.

While Kohli was at the receiving end of it, India head coach Ravi Shastri hailed the performance on Twitter and advised Yadav to “Stay strong and patient”.

IPL 2020: Suryakumar Yadav responds to India snub with another match-winning knock

Former Sri Lanka captain Kumar Sangakkara has urged MS Dhoni to play competitive cricket in the build-up to the next edition of <a href="https://www.wionews.com/ipl">Indian Premier League (IPL)</a> while hoping that the veteran gloveman returns to lead the Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2021.

Dhoni hasn’t looked in his best of touch in IPL 2020 thus far as rustiness crept in his batting. Even Dhoni himself conceded that he has struggled to find form due to lack of cricket and practice in the last 12 months.

".... you will always have a season or series where you're off the boil, and this is MS's. It has reflected on the team's fortunes as well. And it's something you get to expect. You can over analyse it, you analyse it any which way, it just happens. And it's happened at the back end of MSD's career.

"But that doesn't make him a lesser player or less important for CSK at all. It's just one of those phases that he has got to deal with and he's got to come out of it," Kumar Sangakkara told Star Sports on Thursday.

So far in IPL 2020, Dhoni has managed to score just 199 runs in 12 matches at a mere average of 28.42. His IPL career average is 41.32. Dhoni hasn’t scored a single half-century in the tournament.

However, Sangakkara stated that one bad season doesn’t make Dhoni a lesser player or less important for CSK in the future.

"I am sure he is hungry to keep playing, hungry to perform. Knowing MSD, he would much rather take a team win than a half-century for himself. That's the way he has been built, that's the way he has always thought. If he can contribute to it in any way, even by scoring 10 runs he'd be happy.

Chennai Super Kings lock horns with Kolkata Knight Riders at the Dubai International Stadium on Thursday as the action in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 continues. While CSK are officially out of IPL 2020, the match is of extreme importance for KKR as they are still in a close fight for the playoff race.&nbsp;

KKR, fifth in the IPL 2020 table, are equal on points with Kings XI Punjab, who are sitting at the fourth spot due to better net run-rate. While KKRs’ NRR is one of the worst in IPL 2020, they would be eyeing to win their remaining two games while hoping KXIP and other contenders lose at least one of their games.

<h2>CSK vs KKR: Head-to-head stats</h2>

Talking about head-to-head statistics of matches between CSK and KKR, Chennai Super Kings have an advantage with 13 wins as compared to Kolkata Knight Riders’ 8. However, KKR had earlier defeated CSK in IPL 2020 where the franchise, under former captain Dinesh Karthik, made a sensational comeback to choke the Super Kings during their chase and seal the match by 10 runs.

Chennai Super Kings lock horns with Kolkata Knight Riders at the Dubai International Stadium on Thursday as the action in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 continues. While CSK are officially out of IPL 2020, the match is of extreme importance for KKR as they are still in a close fight for the playoff race. However, KKR had earlier defeated CSK in IPL 2020 where the franchise, under former captain Dinesh Karthik, made a sensational comeback to choke the Super Kings during their chase and seal the match by 10 runs. Bumrah dismissed Virat Kohli with a sharp bouncer and with the scalp, the Indian pacer reached the 100-IPL wicket landmark becoming only the 15th bowler to do so. Not only that, with Kohli’s wicket, Bumrah also completed 200 T20 wickets while becoming the sixth bowler to achieve the feat.

Other Indian bowlers to have scalped more than 200 T20 wickets are: Piyush Chawla (257), Amit Mishra (256), Ravichandran Ashwin (242), Harbhajan Singh (235) and Yuzvendra Chahal (205).

Chahal touched the milestone a couple of weeks ago in the IPL 2020 match against Kings XI Punjab after sending Mayank Agarwal back to the hut.

Bumrah, like always, has been in sublime form with the ball in IPL 2020 and is the third-highest wicket-taker thus far with 18 wickets in 11 matches.

Meanwhile, ahead of the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore, stand-in MI skipper Kieron Pollard hoped for a better show by the MI team following their crushing defeat to Rajasthan Royals, where Ben Stokes smashed a terrific century.

“Hopefully we will see what happens but we have to come out and play good cricket. In the last game, 190 odd was chased down, and don't think it would change much and hopefully, we can chase it down later on,” Pollard said after the toss.&nbsp;

Pollard is leading MI in the absence of Rohit Sharma, who is fighting hard to come back for the playoffs after suffering a hamstring injury in the twin Super Over match against Kings XI Punjab.

With India’s tour of Australia later in the year getting the final nod, authorities are looking for at least 25,000 people per day at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) during the Boxing Day Test, a government official said on Wednesday.

Melbourne was released from COVID-19 lockdown on Wednesday with retail and hospitality business opening their doors for the first time in months.&nbsp;

Victoria state sports minister Martin Pakula said that the government is looking to develop a plan with Cricket Australia and the MCG in a bid to allow one-quarter of a capacity crowd in the famed 100,000-seat MCG for the Boxing Day Test starting on December 26.&nbsp;

“We’ve been really clear with Cricket Australia and the MCG that we’ll make final decisions about numbers closer to the day, depending on the epidemiological situation that abides at the time,” he said.

“At this stage, (25,000) is what we believe would be the safe and appropriate number per day here at the MCG.”

Pakula further said that the numbers of supporters could rise if the health situation improves. However, Melbourne’s unlock came too late for Australia’s biggest week in horse racing. The carnival attracts crowds to the tune of 90,000 on major races and is crowed by the A$8 million ($5.7 million) Melbourne Cup, which is run on the first Tuesday in November at Flemington and known as “the race that stops the nation”.

“The view the government came to was it wasn’t appropriate in the circumstances to have hundreds of owners congregating at Flemington next week,” said Pakula.

“There will be a time for that but next week is not that time.”

Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma has been making the headlines after the Indian selectors announced the squad for upcoming Australia tour while keeping the ‘Hitman’ out of ODI, T20I and Test squads citing injury. While the BCCI has said that Rohit’s fitness is being monitored closely, he has been seen practising with the Mumbai Indians side in the nets for the remainder of <a href="https://www.wionews.com/ipl">Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020</a>.

Plenty of questions were asked on Rohit’s fitness on social media as the BCCI didn’t conduct any press conference with the Indian selectors and media. But whenever the MI unit has trained, he has been there and while he slowly started with working on his leg, he has been hitting the nets now. Mumbai Indians are set to take on Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday as the battle for top 2 spots heats up in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020. Both MI and RCB are equal in the points table with 14 points under their respective belts in 11 matches. Both RCB and MI can move a step close to achieving qualification to IPL 2020 playoffs. However, a win this evening still won’t guarantee a spot in playoffs, which resembles how tightly the tournament is being fought by all the teams.

India’s tour of Australia next month has received a green signal from the Australian government with Sydney and Canberra set to serve as the starting points of the full-fledged series between two top sides.

Cricket Australia and the New South Wales state government have agreed to a deal for the touring team and Australian players returning from the IPL as the players will undergo quarantine in Sydney while getting access to nearby training facilities in a bid to prepare for the gruelling tour.

Confirmation of quarantine protocols were handed after NSW government’s approval on Thursday but will need a final sign-off from the BCCI.&nbsp;

"Australia and India represents one of the great rivalries in world sport and we are delighted to welcome Virat Kohli's outstanding squad to Australian shores this summer," CA chief Nick Hockley said on October 28 (Wednesday).

"I cannot speak more highly of the professional, thorough and collaborative manner with which they (BCCI) have approached this tour in these extraordinary and complex times," he said.

However, Cricket Australia is unlikely to allow families inside the bio-secure bubble and it has irked a few Indian players, some of those are without families during the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 in the UAE.

Even some of the players have informed the Indian board that it would be difficult for them to be inside another bio-bubble without their families.

Notably, talks are still underway between the BCCI and CA in a bid to allow families to be part of the bio-bubble. However, it is unlikely that the CA will give it a green signal.&nbsp;
