Young and exuberant Indian all-rounder Riyan&nbsp;Parag has revealed his diet routine when preparing for competitive matches.

Riyan Parag is one of India’s most exciting upcoming all-rounders and has caught the attention of every cricket fan in the country with his performances for Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League and even impressed Kumar Sangakkara who predicted that the youngster will contribute a lot to Indian cricket in the future.

Riyan’s dedication to his sport is visible in his on-field training sessions and also his workout routines. But one unsung contribution comes by way of nutrition and diet.

<h2>Getting in the right mindset</h2>

For Riyan, getting ready for a match starts with his mentality from the moment he wakes up.

“My mentality on game day is very positive because I would have prepared well for the match the day before,” he says.

“I like to wake up early so I can get my routine done – like breakfast, mobility stretches, get some massage work done – and then be really prepared for the match,” he says about his game-day preparation.

In the hours leading up to the match, Riyan tries to keep his mind blank so he is not stressing about the details of the match.

“I think I am at my best when I am not thinking about other things like whom I’m facing and what I need to do. Of course, the calculations keep going on in my mind, but I keep reminding myself that if I am clear mentally, I play at my best,” he says.

<h2>Riyan’s sporting diet</h2>

Riyan isn’t as strict with himself in a particular diet plan on a daily basis as most other professional athletes might be.

He knows that different physios and nutritionists will give him different opinions on what he should and shouldn’t eat.

But he likes to follow a simple eating routine before and after matches; he eats vegetarian food a day before a match, and he eats food rich in protein and carbohydrates after a match.

Riyan’s favourite healthy meal is, “grilled chicken, mashed potatoes, sautéed veggies, and a really good reduction sauce.”

<h2>What does Riyan eat before a match?</h2>

Riyan’s match preparation starts with his meals a day before he is set to play.

“I like to eat vegetarian food the day before a game. I just think personally, it makes my recovery better and it makes me more comfortable. So I eat vegetarian food before a match,” he says.

He likes to enjoy a big breakfast on the day of the match so he is fuelled for the whole day.

“The first meal on game day would be a big breakfast. I like to eat an egg-white omelette, some sausages, bacon if it's available, and a good smoothie or some fresh juice,” says Riyan.

As part of his match routine, Riyan makes sure to eat his pre-game meal at least three-four hours prior to the start of a match.

“Before stepping out on the field, I like to eat a protein bar or some cheese if available,” Riyan says about a last-minute snack if he feels hungry before a match.

<h2>Drinks that help Riyan through a cricket match</h2>

While Riyan enjoys chewing on energy bars to alleviate any hunger before a game, he also drinks a can of Red Bull before the start of a match.

“I eat a lot of granola, protein bars. And yeah, before stepping out, I usually take a few sips of Red Bull,” he says.

He says a can of Red Bull helps give him a bit more energy to play.

“I usually drink Red Bull before the match. It just gives me a boost and gets me going in the match. I don't normally drink Red Bull during the match though,” he adds.

<h2>Recovery process</h2>

Riyan pays a lot of attention to his post-match routine so he recovers quickly after a match. Part of this is to eat a good recovery meal that gives his body the nutrients it needs.

“My post-match meal is always a lot of protein – like steaks and grilled chicken – and some carbs like pasta or risotto,” says Riyan.

He doesn’t give into eating cheat meals too often since he is so dedicated to his sport. But when he does, he has a taste for a truly indulgent meal.

“A cheat meal would definitely be good burgers, chicken nuggets, cheesy fries, and a caramel milkshake. Cheat meals aren’t that often; really depends on my mood. If I feel like it, I go ahead and eat it,” he says.

Mayank Agarwal persevered through a difficult stretch with the bat in the 2020-21 Border-Gavaskar Trophy. He scored only 78 runs into the three Tests and was dropped as an opener for the last two Tests. Mayank Agarwal's coach RX Murali uncovered the Indian batsman began 'doubting' himself subsequent to being disregarded.&nbsp;

In his last eight Test innings, Mayank Agarwal has scored just 88 runs. Shubman Gill has apparently gotten out ahead in the unit, particularly after his endeavors in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.&nbsp;

In an interview with InsideSport, Mayank Agarwal's coach spoke about how the opener started to question himself subsequent to being dropped from the Test group.

"It’s all about the mindset. You suddenly start creating doubts in your mind when it doesn’t match up. It takes you to a different spin altogether and you completely lose out on the mental process that you once created. It takes you to a mode when you start doubting everything. That’s what happened with Mayank," he said.

The eminent coach added that players are getting more restless about their spot in the group with genuine contests for places.&nbsp;

"There is a lot of anxiety in a sportsperson. In sports, there are more failures than successes. When you are anxious about failing and know that there is a lot of competition and if you don’t perform, you are out, that adds up more. Cricket: Mayank Agarwal began 'doubting' himself after playing XI snub, says childhood coach

Suryakumar Yadav has revealed that he was so eager to take strike for the first time in international cricket that he ran in to bat.&nbsp;

Suryakumar Yadav made his India debut in the second T20I against England in Ahmedabad in March this year. However, he didn't get the opportunity to bat in his debut. He was dropped for the following match, before being reviewed for the fourth T20I. Sent in to bat at No.3 as England chose to take the field first the 30-year-old hit an appealing 57 from 31 balls.&nbsp;

Suryakumar Yadav spoke about his first experience of batting in International cricket on Mumbai Indians Instagram handle:

''When I padded up and came to the dug-out, I was nervous, and it should be that way if you don't get nervous, how would you perform''.

''When I was going inside, everything started running in my mind, what I have done when I bat at three. I got my answer when I said to myself 'don't do anything different, do the same thing – be yourself, that's it. I have reached this point by doing the same things"&nbsp;- he said.&nbsp;

“If you must have seen, I was very excited at that time. Obviously, I wasn’t happy because Rohit Sharma had just got out. But when it was going in, I was so excited, I ran in to bat. I had waited for a long time for this opportunity. Sitting in the dressing room, I had thoughts like - when will the match start? When will my turn come to bat? How he comes hard at the batters and what kind of deliveries he bowls to a new batsman at the crease. Back of the mind, I knew he would bowl that short ball delivery. Thankfully, he did. ''When I was going inside, everything started running in my mind, what I have done when I bat at three. I got my answer when I said to myself 'don't do anything different, do the same thing – be yourself, that's it. I have reached this point by doing the same things" - he said. When I wore my pads and came out to sit in the dugout, I was a little nervous. It is important to be nervous. If you are not nervous, how will you go in and perform?” - he added. Cricket: 'Be yourself': Advice Suryakumar Yadav gave himself ahead of international debut

Cricketing legend Richard Hadlee has given his take on the much-awaited ICC World Test Championship Final between New Zealand and India as he said that he is looking forward to the clash between two of the best bowling and batting sides in the sport.<o:p></o:p>

The Virat Kohli and Kane Williamson led India and New Zealand, respectively, finished first and second on the ICC WTC points table. The two sides will now take each other on in the summit clash, at the Hampshire Bowl in Southampton from June 18 to 22. <o:p></o:p>

Hadlee is of the view that while cooler conditions could favour the Black Caps, the match will be decided by which side adapts to the tricky conditions the best and quickest. However, the Kiwi legend said that it is too difficult to predict a winner at this stage. <o:p></o:p>

"It all comes down as to who is better prepared and who adapts better to the English conditions the quickest," he said. "The weather may also play a part and if it is cold that will favour New Zealand. The Duke ball will suit both team’s fast bowlers especially the genuine swing bowlers and the Kiwis are well served in that department with Southee, Boult and Jamieson. If the ball seams around off the pitch, batsmen in both teams will be challenged.

About oxygen concentrators

An oxygen concentrator is a medical device that operates by drawing air from the environment to deliver continuous, clean and concentrated oxygen to needy patients. Concentrators provide a sustainable and cost-effective source of medical oxygen and are designed for continuous operation. While oxygen cylinders require refilling and need to be transported in cryogenic tankers, concentrators are easily portable and only need a power source to draw in ambient air.&nbsp;

I remember we were playing the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in Indore and I was down with cold and cough at that time. So I had gone out for dinner and was coughing a lot. So I spoke to my dad. He asked me to take the cough syrup available in market. What I did wrong was did not consult the physio, which was wrong on my part.<o:p></o:p>

“I took that syrup for two days, and on the third day I had my dope test. So that’s when I was detected positive for a banned substance. That was a really difficult phase for me, and can’t even express in words. I was worried about my image, and what would people think about me. That is when I went for London, to stay away from all this. There too, I didn’t step out of my room much.”

Young Indian batsman Prithvi Shaw had a tremendous rise in international cricket as he smashed his maiden Test ton against the West Indies in his debut match for India in 2018. Shaw went on to suffer an ankle injury during the Australia tour and witnessed a dip in form. The youngster also tested positive for a banned substance and was handed an eight-month ban under anti-doping guidelines. Shaw opened up about the toughest phase of his career and how he dealt with the poor run of form while also highlighting how the cough syrup episode took place. “Till New Zealand tour I was in a happy space. Basically, I was feeling okay, and then I did decently in IPL too in 2020. 2018-19 Australia series was something I was really looking forward to. And then suddenly this ankle injury happened. The physios and team management were trying to keep me ready for the third Test, but the recovery progress stopped after a point. I was in a lot of pain, and was really sad. But these sort of things keep happening, and this is what the players and support staff tried to explain me,” Shaw told Cricbuzz. Indian women’s cricketers have still not been paid the prize money from the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2020, where the Women in Blue, reached the final 14 months ago. Upon reaching the summit clash, where India Women lost to Australia in a capacity crowd of more than 86,000 at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground, the Indian women’s cricketers should have received a collective amount of $500,000 (£350,000).<o:p></o:p>

According to The Telegraph, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) holds the entire prize-money pot awarded to the Indian cricketers. The CEO of the Federation of International Cricketers’ Associations, Tom Moffat said that they were made aware of the issue in August 2020 and reached out to the International Cricket Council (ICC) and Indian players about the same. <o:p></o:p>

"Prize money is payable to players for their on-field performance in pinnacle events and the late non-payment of money owing to players is unacceptable," Moffat told Telegraph Sport.

Kieron Pollard wishes to see star batsman Shimron Hetmyer overwhelm across all formats in global cricket. He feels the southpaw needs to work more diligently to acquire the certainty of the selectors.&nbsp;

Shimron Hetmyer has not reliably included somewhat recently because of injury concerns and he even quit the Bangladesh visit. Since making his debut in 2017, the 24-year-old has played just 16 Tests, 45 ODIs, and 27 T20Is for the West Indies.&nbsp;

In an interaction with Line and Length TV Show, Kieron Pollard expressed that Shimron Hetmyer is the player who will take West Indies cricket forward.&nbsp;

“We love Hetty. He is a young, talented cricketer. He is a guy who we know, deep in our hearts, can take West Indies cricket forward from a generational point of view with his skill and what he can achieve on a cricket field” - he said.&nbsp;

"He knows the truth and he knows what it is. We would love Hetty to be playing all three formats, but as the saying goes, ‘You can only take the horse to the water, but you can’t force him to drink.’ With that being said, I will leave it right there and for the individual to get things together" - he added.

Talking about Shimron Hetmyer's exhibitions across the various formats of the game, Kieron Pollard said:&nbsp;

“He has a fantastic record in ODI cricket. We saw what he can do in the Indian Premier League and it’s just for him to take what’s in front of him. The world is at his feet."
In the last one year, Shimron Hetmyer has overseen just 100 runs from five innings in T20Is and 14 runs in two ODIs.&nbsp;

“We have to plan properly in order to conquer. I'm not looking too much into the names of the opposition because as I said before these guys are talented in their own right as they would have not been selected for their national teams otherwise” - he added.&nbsp;

Monty Panesar believes that India could hand the hosts a 5-0 whipping if the wickets during the impending series offer turn.&nbsp;

As per Monty Panesar, Indian spinners could make use of England's shortcomings if the surfaces offer some help. Bringing up that the conditions would be hotter in August when the Test series starts, Monty Panesar tweeted:

“5 test matches are in August where we will expect warmer conditions. Indian spinners will come into the game, India have a chance 5-0.”
India has the accomplished duo of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja in their crew as the two primary spinners. Both demonstrated amazing success in

Australian conditions a couple of months prior. Further, Axar Patel, who unleashed destruction during his presentation Test arrangement against England at home, and Washington Sundar are the other spin alternatives for Team India.&nbsp;

A Twitter user couldn't help contradicting Monty Panesar’s claim and composed:

“It is not easy at all for India in seaming conditions, 5-0 with England that is a big joke.”

The 39-year-old likewise supported the Indian seamers to do well against an amateur England top-order lineup. As indicated by Monty Panesar, England are vigorously subject to their captain Joe Root to score runs.&nbsp;

Reacting to a tweet on the India-England arrangement, Monty Panesar believes:&nbsp;

"If Joe Root scores large England win. But, you anticipate that Joe Root should score all the runs? India has seamers to exploit inexperienced English batting. The top order will be England's issue" he said.

Abhay Sharma, the fielding coach of the Indian women’s team, has professed that a great deal of work has to be done to the extent that the physicality and wellness of players are concerned.&nbsp;

Abhay Sharma was with the Indian women during the home series against South Africa in March. Notwithstanding, he didn't get a ton of time with the players since the series was declared unexpectedly. The fielding coach is wanting to draw out certain progressions in the group during the series in England.&nbsp;

Addressing PTI, Abhay Sharma said that the Indian women's squad is lingering behind in handling in contrast with overseas sides. He expounded:

"Overall development is needed as far as fielding is concerned. The game is changing, you have to be more athletic. Technically, work needs to be done.”

"What I observed is that a lot of girls are struggling with their throwing techniques. If you develop the wrong technique in your early days then it troubles you with injuries.

Once the technical side is taken care of, then you can build on the strength part" - he added.

On asking his input on the series against South Africa, Abhay Sharma answered that the South African team was certainly a lot speedier and adaptable in the field. The fielding coach added that he will attempt to communicate with the players on a one-on-one premise to see everyone's qualities and shortcomings in a superior way.&nbsp;

“As of now technically they really need to work hard. What I have noticed in women's cricket is that a lot of U-19 players are going on to play for the senior team. The workload is more on their shoulders and they are not that strong. We have to accept that there is a huge difference between foreign teams and our girls. The South African girls were more athletic, they cover the ground quicker and they are a little stronger also” – he said.

The series against South Africa was India's first in a year as the cricketing calendar was influenced because of COVID-19. As indicated by Abhay Sharma, aside from batting and bowling, the Indian team was poor with their running between the wickets as well. He said in such manner:&nbsp;

"The last series what I saw was there was a lapse in judgement in some cases, maybe because they were playing after a long time. A lot depends on the frame of mind. We will work sincerely on that front. The running between wickets is a huge part of the game. If the team is having good coordination then you can convert those singles into twos and that is one area where we can add pressure on the opposition."

Team India will play a one-off Test match, three ODIs, and three T20s in England in June. Later in the year, India will visit Australia for six limited-overs matches and a Test match at the WACA, which will be the women's group's first pink-ball experience.&nbsp;

Dom Sibley as of late got back to playing cricket for his county side Warwickshire subsequent to enduring a broken finger a month ago. The batsman recognized that he isn't yet completely fit despite the fact that he made a very much made 43 against Essex in the first innings.&nbsp;

The England team and the management have shown confidence in Dom Sibley, picking him for the forthcoming two-match Test arrangement against New Zealand.&nbsp;
Dom Sibley is sure of returning to his best before England locks horns with the Kiwis in the first Test on June 2.

In a conversation with ESPNCricinfo he said:

"In terms of percentages, it's difficult to tell really. I'm not 100%, it's my first game back, so I felt a little bit nervy, as everyone does after an injury. But I feel pretty close to being there, so I'm feeling confident".

The 25-year-old added that he has been buckling down throughout the most recent 10 days to bring himself back for a spot in England's playing XI for the impending Test arrangement.&nbsp;

"I've tried as hard as I can do with the finger over the last 10 days, but I just feel really excited to be in the squad and I'm really looking forward to getting involved, every opportunity to be involved with England is really exciting, and hopefully I'll play a part in some of the Test matches" - he added.

Dom Sibley says his nearly recuperated finger will be tested while fielding sounded somewhat uncertain on how he would go about things out in the field.&nbsp;

"I'm looking forward to getting out in the field and seeing how it is. With fingers, you never really know. It’s all about how it feels when you get into match situations, but with the bat, I felt confident in it," added the English batsman.

The Indian men’s cricket team is gearing up for the long tour of the UK, where the Virat Kohli-led side will not only play the ICC World Test Championship final but also a five-match Test series against England. However, the BCCI is in talks with the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) in a bid to tweak the much-awaited Test series and find a window for the postponed Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021. <o:p></o:p>

IPL 2021 had to be postponed indefinitely after 29 matches as multiple COVID-19 cases emerged within the players and staff in the bio-secure bubble. With a packed international cricket calendar, the BCCI is still seeking a window for the remainder of IPL 2021. <o:p></o:p>

According to a report in The Times of India, the BCCI has held talks with the ECB to tweak the five-Test series and carve out a window for IPL 2021.

“Only if costs are escalating to a point where it starts affecting stakeholders, the BCCI will consider the UAE as the second option for the IPL. On that front, we aren’t even discounting the idea of hosting the IPL in Sri Lanka,” the sources added.

Australian bowling quarter of Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Starc and Nathan Lyon has&nbsp;written a letter to the Australian public as they clarified their stance on the infamous sandpaper gate episode during the Newlands Test against South Africa in 2018 where Cameron Bancroft, Steve Smith and David Warner were found guilty of trying to alter the condition of the ball. <o:p></o:p>

While Warner and Smith completed their 12-month ban and Bancroft his nine-month suspension, recent statements by the latter have triggered the controversy once again. <a href="https://www.wionews.com/sports/cameron-bancroft-hints-australian-bowlers-were-aware-of-the-sandpaper-plot-385171">In a recent interview, Bancroft had hinted that bowlers were aware of ball-tampering during the infamous Test match</a>.<o:p></o:p>

Bancroft’s statement created an uproar among the cricket fans and pundits. Since Bancroft’s remarks, many former players including the likes of Michael Clarke, Adam Gilchrist, Michael Vaughan among others have said that bowlers are pretty aware of the condition of the ball. &nbsp;

To The Australian Public,<o:p></o:p>

We pride ourselves on our honesty. So it’s been disappointing to see that our integrity has been questioned by some journalists and past players in recent days in regard to the Cape Town Test of 2018.<o:p></o:p>

We have already answered questions many times on this issue but we feel compelled to put the key facts on the record again:<o:p></o:p>

We did not know a foreign substance was taken onto the field to alter the condition of the ball until we saw the images on the big screen at Newlands<o:p></o:p>

And to those who despite the absence of evidence, insist that ‘we must have known' about the use of a foreign substance simply because we are bowlers, we say this: The umpires during that Test match, Nigel Llong and Richard Illingworth, both very respected and experienced umpires, inspected the ball after the images surfaced on the TV coverage and did not change it because there was no sign of damage.<o:p></o:p>

None of this excuses what happened on the field that day at Newlands. It was wrong and it should have never happened.<o:p></o:p>

We’ve learned valuable lessons and we’d like to think the public can see a change for the better in terms of the way we play, the way we behave and respect the game. Our commitment to improving as people and players will continue.<o:p></o:p>

We respectfully request an end to the rumour-mongering and innuendo.<o:p></o:p>

It has gone on too long and it is time to move on.<o:p></o:p>

Both are familiar with the England set-up, having toured as reserves during England’s winter Test programmes in Sri Lanka and India. They were part of the extended squads during last summer’s behind closed doors Test series against West Indies and Pakistan, respectively.

There is a recall for Somerset all-rounder Craig Overton, who last featured for England in a Test match in September 2019 against Australia at Emirates Old Trafford – he will be looking to add to his four Test caps.

Multi-format players Moeen Ali, Jonathan Bairstow, Jos Buttler, Sam Curran and Chris Woakes are rested after completing a quarantine period following the cancellation of the Indian Premier League earlier this month. Stokes is progressing well from his fractured left index finger and is set to return to action next month for Durham in the Vitality Blast competition.

Archer is to meet with a medical consultant later this week to determine the seriousness of his right elbow soreness.

England Men’s Head Coach, Chris Silverwood, said:

“The summer of Test cricket will be fascinating. Playing the top two teams in the world, in New Zealand and India, is perfect preparation for us as we continue to improve and progress towards an Ashes series in Australia at the back end of the year.

“With several players not available through injury or being rested for the New Zealand series, it is an opportunity for us to reward those who have been on the fringes of England squads over the past 12 months.

“James Bracey and Ollie Robinson deserve their call ups to the Test squad. They have been consistent performers in the County Championship this season and over the past 18 months, have excelled for the Lions on the field and in the various camps they have been involved in.

“Having spent all winter and last summer in the company of our established Test players, they have immersed themselves in preparing and understanding what it takes to play at this level. The environment and culture will be something they are used to, and should they be in a position to make their Test debuts, they will be ready to showcase their skills.

“They are both resilient characters and have demonstrated to me, the captain and coaches that they have the desire, temperament and the ability to continually improve to give themselves every chance of succeeding on the international stage.”

In respect of those players injured and rested, Silverwood, added:

“Jofra Archer is to see a consultant this week to understand the severity of his right elbow injury. He struggled in Sussex’s Championship fixture last week and he wasn’t able to bowl on the final two days of the match. We need to get this resolved once and for all to give him the best chance of being fully fit as we build up to an intense winter, which will include a T20 World Cup and the Ashes. We need him firing in all formats of the game.

“Ben Stokes is making excellent progress following his fractured left index finger sustained last month in the Indian Premier League. If he continues to improve without any impact on his rehabilitation, we could see him return next month for Durham in the Vitality Blast competition. We will assess him again towards the end of this month.

“As for the players who have just come out of quarantine after the cancelled IPL, we felt it necessary for them to have an extended break. We need them to recharge mentally. We will then take a view when they return to cricket. It will mean that they will get some competitive matches with their respective counties either in the&nbsp;County Championship or the Vitality Blast next month. We will work closely with each individual on when they are likely to play again.

“This is the start of our international summer and an exceptionally long winter, so we are mindful that we need the players ready both physically and mentally. Understanding players needs are paramount in our planning and something that will continually develop across the year leading into the World Cup and Ashes campaigns.”

Sometimes, teams need one person who can make something happen, a person who will go about as the impetus to push the whole squad. AB de Villiers is a player of that caliber. He is a man who can shift the direction of a game in a matter of a couple of overs, and it is this sparkle of brightness that South Africa seriously misses in their present set-up.&nbsp;
