After winning the T20 World Cup 2022 edition, in Australia, Jos Buttler-led England shifted their focus to the ODI format as they met hosts Australia in the three-match series opener on Thursday (November 17). Being asked to bat first, Buttler & Co. were reduced to 118 for 5 and in deep trouble before Dawid Malan's 128-ball 134 propelled them to a challenging 287for 9 in 50 overs. In reply, Australia didn't sweat hard and chased down the total with six wickets and 19 balls in hand courtesy of fifties from David Warner (86), Travis Head (69) and Steve Smith's 80 not out.

With a 1-0 series lead, Pat Cummins & Co. are off to a flier and will aim to wrap up the series with an unassailable 2-0 lead in the second and penultimate ODI on Saturday (November 19). Both sides will meet in Sydney and another high-scoring encounter can be expected. Will England, also the ODI champions, bounce back in style and keep the series alive or surrender tamely versus the Men in Yellow?

Both India and New Zealand's T20 World Cup 2022 campaigns ended in the semi-finals. While Kane Williamson's Black Caps lost to Pakistan in the first semi-final, India bowed out with a listless performance versus eventual winners England in the second semis. As a new cycle begins, keeping in mind the 2024 T20 World Cup, both sides will now lock horns in the three-match T20I series opener on Friday (November 18) in Wellington.

For India, many of their regulars such as captain Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Virat Kohli, etc. are not part of the NZ tour. Meanwhile, head coach Rahul Dravid has also been rested. In the absence of Rohit, all-rounder Hardik Pandya will spearhead the second-stringed line-up whereas VVS Laxman has filled in for Dravid as the interim head coach. The series will give a big opportunity for the likes of Shubman Gill, uncapped T20I player, Rishabh Pant, Ishan Kishan, Washington Sundar, Umran Malik, etc. to make a mark as calls have risen for a total revamp to India's T20I squad in the aftermath of the T20 WC 2022 edition in Australia.

India's stand-in skipper Hardik Pandya said the team doesn't need to prove anything to anyone while responding to Michael Vaughan's criticism of the Men in Blue. The former England captain labelled India as the most underperforming team in white-ball cricket after their disappointing loss against England in the semi-final of the recently-concluded T20 World Cup 2022.

India were the table-toppers in Group 2 in the Super 12 stage being the only team to have won four out of their five matches but failed to cross the final hurdle in the semi-finals. Rohit Sharma & Co. suffered a crushing 10-wicket defeat in the semi-final against England where they failed to defend a total of 178 runs.

In his column for The Telegraph, Vaughan criticised India's approach in white-ball cricket and said the talent their performances on the pitch don't justify the kind of talent they have at their disposal. The former England captain urged India to take inspiration from England's white-ball template while calling them the biggest underperformers.

"India are the most underperforming white-ball team in history. I am just staggered by how they play T20 cricket for the talent they have. They have the players, but just do not have the right process in place. They have to go for it. Why do they give the opposition bowlers the first five overs to bed in," Vaughan wrote in his column for The Telegraph.

"Obviously when you don't do well, people will have their opinion, which we respect. I understand people have different points of view. Being at the international level, I don't think we need to prove anything to anyone. It's a sport, you keep trying to get better and eventually when the result is supposed to happen it will happen. There are things we need to work on, going forward we will rectify and work on them," Hardik said reacting to Vaughan's comments.

Former England captain Michael Vaughan has urged the Indian cricket team to follow England's template for success in white-ball cricket. Vaughan lauded England for their winning mentality after their memorable T22 World Cup 2022 triumph and said they deserved to win for having the best side in the competition.

A superb bowling effort followed by Ben Stokes' unbeaten half-century helped England pull off a comprehensive victory in the final against Pakistan at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on Sunday.
With the incredible feat, the reigning ODI and T20I world champions have proved they are the best white-ball team in the world at present. Lauding them for their mentality, Vaughan pointed out how England were in trouble in both the 2019 ODI World Cup and the T20 World Cup this year after losing games early in the tournament but managed to bounce back strongly and go all the way.

"England should be winning World Cups because they have the best squad but we often see the best teams not living up to their billing. In the 2019 World Cup final, England had the rub of the green and they did this time as well. But they deserve that luck because they have done things right for so long by committing to a style," Vaughan wrote in his column for the Telegraph.

In the 2019 World Cup final, England had the rub of the green and they did this time as well. But they deserve that luck because they have done things right for so long by committing to a style," Vaughan wrote in his column for the Telegraph.
Former Australia captain Michael Clarke has slammed England all-rounder Moeen Ali for his recent comments criticising the 'horrible' scheduling in international cricket. Ali called out the tight schedule after England defeated Pakistan in the final to win the T20 World Cup 2022 title on Sunday (November 13).

England are already gearing up for their next international assignment in less than a week after playing the T20 World Cup 2022 final as they will take on Australia in a three-match ODI series starting from Thursday (November 17). England players have a break of just three days before they return to action once again post the recently-concluded World Cup.

Calling out the packed schedule, Ali said it becomes difficult for the players to give their hundred percent in every game if they have to play so frequently with no time for rest and recovery.

"Having a game in three days' time, it's horrible. But it's better than two days' time. If it had rained on Sunday, it would have been two days (if the reserve day came into play)," Ali said after England's T20 World Cup triumph.

"As players, we're kind of getting used to it now. But to give 100 percent all the time is difficult when you're playing every two, three days," he added.

Moeen further pointed out how it was the same situation after England had won the ODI World Cup in 2019 as the team had little time to celebrate with their next assignment lined up shortly after the tournament. The England star said it's a shame that they don't have enough time to celebrate their T20 World Cup victory.

England all-rounder Ben Stokes lauded captain Jos Buttler after the team's memorable triumph in T20 World Cup 2022. Stokes was England's hero in the final against Pakistan as he slammed an unbeaten half-century to help his team chase down the target of 138 runs with an over to spare and register a comfortable five-wicket win.

Heaping praise on Buttler, Stokes credited him for England's victorious T20 World Cup campaign and said the star batter has now created his own legacy as captain. Buttler had taken over as England's captain in T20Is in June This year after Eoin Morgan decided to retire from white-ball cricket.

Stokes praised Buttler for taking control of the team in a short time and blossoming into the great leader that he already was. The star all-rounder said the current England skipper has now created his own legacy by winning the T20 World Cup crown.

"Jos, obviously you know, when the great man (Eoin Morgan) stepped down and Jos took over, you look how quickly he has managed to take control of the team and progress it from the legacy that Morgs has left. And Jos has now created his own legacy - a T20 World Cup-winning captain," Stokes said on Sky Sports.

Stokes also took a dig at himself during his interview on Sky Sports after his heroics in the final. The England all-rounder said Morgan could have won the T20 World Cup as captain but someone blew the chance up referring to Marlon Samules' exploits against him in the 2016 T20 World Cup final.

"He (Eoin Morgan) had the chance to become the T20 World Cup winning captain but someone blew that up," Stokes said leaving everyone in splits.

ICC names Most Valuable Team of T20 World Cup 2022, Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav make the cut

Pakistan will be on the cusp of winning their second T20 World Cup trophy when they take on England in the final of the T20 World Cup 2022 on Sunday (November 13). The Men in Green have had an eventful campaign so far, beating all odds to reach the summit clash, and will be fancying their chances amid strong crowd support at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).

Not many gave Pakistan a chance of making it to the semi-finals after Babar Azam & Co. suffered back-to-back losses in their first two Super 12 games against India and Zimbabwe. However, Pakistan managed to bounce back and win their next four games in a row to secure a spot in the final.

Their meeting against England in the summit clash will be a repeat of the 1992 ODI World Cup final where the legendary Imran Khan guided Pakistan to their maiden World Cup title. Babar will be aiming to emulate Imran's feat at the same venue on Sunday.

There have been some striking similarities between Pakistan's 1992 World Cup-winning campaign and their journey so far in the T20 World Cup 2022. In 1992 as well, Pakistan lost their first two matches in the tournament and made it to the final where they were up against England.

However, this time around, England are favourites in the final considering their well-balanced team. England have the firepower in their batting line-up to take down any bowling attack on their day and their bowlers have also impressed so far in the tournament.

Pakistan will be on the cusp of winning their second T20 World Cup trophy when they take on England in the final of the T20 World Cup 2022 on Sunday (November 13).

Pakistan vs England T20 World Cup final prediction: Can Babar Azam emulate Imran Khan's 1992 feat?

Indian pacer Mohammed Shami took a dig at former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar on social media after England won the T20 World Cup 2022 title on Sunday. England defeated Pakistan by five wickets in the final after successfully chasing down the target of 138 runs with an over to spare at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).

Many had touted Pakistan to repeat their feat from the 1992 ODI World Cup where the Imran Khan-led side went on to beat England in the final to win their maiden World Cup trophy. However, their World Cup dream was shattered by England, who produced an emphatic all-round performance to clinch their second title.

Following Pakistan's loss in the final, Akhtar took to Twitter to share a heartbreak emoji to express his disappointment. Shami was quick to respond to Akhtar's tweet and said it was 'Karma'.

'It's karma': Mohammed Shami responds to Shoaib Akhtar's tweet after Pakistan lose T20 World Cup final

It was no repeat of 1992 as England thrashed Pakistan by five wickets in the final to win the T20 World Cup 2022 title at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) in Melbourne on Sunday. Ben Stokes slammed an unbeaten half-century to help England chase down the low-key target of 138 runs with an over to spare and lift their second T20 World Cup trophy with a comprehensive win.

Stokes, who hadn't played much international cricket in the build-up to the World Cup, once again rose to the occasion in a big game for the reigning ODI World Cup champions and proved why he is regarded as one of the best all-rounders in the world.

In pursuit of the 138-run target, England were reeling at 45/3 at one stage in the run chase after losing their top three quick successions before Stokes steadied the ship for Buttler's men. He allowed others to go after the bowlers while holding the fort on one end.

Stokes added 39 runs for the fourth wicket with Harry Brook (20) before sharing a crucial 48-run stand for the fifth wicket with Moeen Ali (19). The left-hander took his time in settling down but seamlessly shifted gears in the death overs to take England home comfortably.

Stokes scored an unbeaten 52 off 49 balls and remained in the middle to finish off the proceedings at the MCG. Earlier, England bowlers produced a disciplined effort to restrict Pakistan to a low-key total of 137 runs.

All-rounder Sam Curran continued his fine form with the ball and was the pick of the bowlers with a three-wicket haul while Adil Rashid impressed once again. Curran drew the first blood for England in the Powerplay by dismissing opener Mohammad Rizwan cheaply on just 15 before Rashid got rid of Mohammad Haris and Babar Azam in quick succession to jolt Pakistan.

There was no coming back for the Men in Green as Shan Masood's courageous 38 helped them post a respectable total on the board. While Curran was the top wicket-taker for England with his three wicket-haul in the final, Rashid finished with excellent figures of 2/22 in his four overs.

England thrashed India by 10 wickets in Adelaide in the second semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2022 on Thursday to secure a spot in the final of the tournament. Jos Butler and Alex Hales played destructive knocks to help England chase down the target of 169 runs with as many as four overs to spare and earn a comprehensive victory.

Butler's men outclassed India across all three departments as they bowled well and produced a clinical performance with the bat to send Rohit Sharma & Co. packing. India got off to a shaky start batting first as they lost opener KL Rahul (5) cheaply while Rohit and Virat Kohli struggled to up the ante.

Rohit could only manage 27 off 28 balls while Kohli scored 50 off 40 balls. It was Hardik Pandya's sensational 33-ball 63 which helped the Men in Blue finish strongly with a fighting total of 168 runs on the board. The bowlers, however, failed to turn up in the all-important clash as India remained wicket-less during England's run-chase at the Adelaide Oval.

"It's too early to talk about it, just after a semi-final game... These guys have been terrific performers for us. We've got a couple of years to reflect on it. These are some really quality players here. Not the right time to talk about or think about this stuff now. We'll have enough time, enough matches as we go on ahead and try to prepare for the next World Cup," Dravid responded.

T20 WC 2022, India vs England semi-final: Predicting playing XIs for riveting contest in Adelaide

Former India spinner Harbhajan Singh slammed the Indian team management following the team's shattering ten-wicket defeat at the hands of England in the second semi-final of T20 World Cup 2022 on Thursday (November 10).
Buttler and Hales went all out from the word go as they made the most of the Powerplay at the Adelaide Oval while denying India a breakthrough. There was no looking back after the good start as the duo took their team over the line comfortably to knock India out of the tournament.

Reacting to India's defeat, Harbhajan questioned India's selection and said he failed to understand why spinner Yuzvendra Chahal kept warming the bench throughout the tournament.
Harbhajan also advised India to learn from England's approach in T20Is and follow the same template to achieve success in the shortest format.

"It is hurting, more because that we did not fight at all,” Harbhajan told India Today in the Battle of Champions show," Harbhajan was quoted as saying by India Today.

It is very disappointing to see India's approach throughout the tournament where they did not look like they would score more than 35 runs.

"I don't know what are the reasons that a champion bowler (Yuzvendra Chahal) is not in the team. He must have done something to someone that he is not getting a game. With his credentials, he should have been your first-choice spinner," he added.

He was expected to lead the spin attack in the tournament but was surprisingly benched for Ashwin, who offered a little extra with the bat in the lower order.

The lack of a wicket-taking spinner like Chahal in the middle overs cost India dearly in the semi-final against England as the bowlers looked clueless against Buttler and Hales, who went all guns blazing at the top. Former England captain Kevin Pietersen urged Virat Kohli to take a day off and go easy on England in the upcoming second semi-final of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2022.

Former England captain Kevin Pietersen urged Virat Kohli to take a day off and go easy on England in the upcoming second semi-final of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2022. India will lock horns with England in a blockbuster clash at the Adelaide Oval in Adelaide on Thursday (November 10) with a spot in the final on the line. Kohli took to social media on Tuesday (November 08) to share a video of his batting practice session in the nets in Adelaide. The senior India batter, who has been in exceptional form so far this season, was seen timing the ball to perfection in the nets as he aims to continue his purple patch. "Please have a day of Thursday, bud! You know I love you but just chill Thursday please," Pietersen wrote in the comments section reacting to Kohli's post. He has already scored three half-centuries in the ongoing World Cup and will be looking to extend his tally when India take on England on Thursday. There were questions raised over his spot in India's T20I squad in the build-up to the World Cup in Australia amid his prolonged lean patch. However, Kohli bounced back to form in the Asia Cup earlier this year and has continued his excellent form in the ongoing T20 World Cup.
