Ben Duckett (83) and captain Ben Stokes commenced in style as they consolidated their fifth-wicket stand. They added a total of 132 runs before Duckett's departure whereas the hosts also lost Jonny Bairstow (10) before lunch.</p>

<p>After Bairstow's fall, in a bizarre fashion, Stokes upped the ante and added 108 runs, for the seventh wicket, with Stuart Broad (11) before he fell for a majestic 155 as England folded for 327. Thus, the home side&nbsp;lost by 43 runs to concede a 2-0 lead. While Stokes made a lot of noise with his berserk inning, Bairstow's dismissal became a huge talking point as well.</p>

<p>A lot has been said and written about Bairstow's departure. Now, former England captain Andrew Strauss -- who also served as the Director of Cricket for England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) --&nbsp;slammed Bairstow for being dozy.</p>

<p>Speaking to Sky Sports, Strauss stated that Australia will be termed as 'villains' by English fans and their skipper Pat Cummins will get 'plenty of stick'&nbsp;for the remainder of the series, but criticised Bairstow, calling his dismissal fair.</p>

<p>"Australia are the villains, as far as England fans are concerned - especially Cummins and his decision not to withdraw that appeal of Bairstow. Cummins will get plenty of stick for the rest of the series, I would've thought, off the back of that," said Strauss.</p>

Though he kept England in the game during most of his innings, Stokes failed to repeat Leeds’ heroics from last time as England lost the match by 43 runs.</p>

<p>Per Sunak’s sportsman, he believes England can still make a comeback in the Ashes 2023, with a win in the third Test that begins next Thursday.</p>

<p>“But the game did provide an opportunity to see Ben Stokes at his best, and it was an incredible test match.</p>

<p>“He has confidence that England will bounce back at Headingley (in the Third Test starting on Thursday),” Rishi Sunak’s sportsman added.</p>

<p>"It is alleged players and staff from the Australian team were verbally abused, with some being physically contacted, as they made their way to lunch through the members area," a Cricket Australia spokesperson had said.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Australia openers Usman Khawaja and David Warner, in particular, got engaged with the members while going back at lunch in the Long Room. The TV footage also showed Khawaja giving it back to the members before stewards intervened.</p>

<h2><strong>'If you are seeing this at the home of cricket, then it is a bit of a problem'</strong></h2>

<p>Chopra said, "There was almost a scuffle-like situation in the Lord's Long Room. What does this mean and where does it go from here? It is a big question because if you are seeing this at the home of cricket, then it is a bit of a problem. It seemed like a fish market."</p>

<p>"They were making so much noise for that one run-out when the Australian players were going upstairs. If you have been given out rightly based on the law, that is where the debate must end but it did not end there and that's the problem. In the Long Room, the Aussies were booed a little, a lot of things were said," the cricketer-turned-commentator opined.</p>

<h2><strong>'They have been people with civilised behaviour but one decision made them go up in arms'</strong></h2>

<p>Chopra further stated, "These are the traditions at Lord's, the Mecca of cricket, where players go through the members in the Long Room. There have been people with civilized behaviour until now, they clap as well and are happy too, that's what England's culture has been so far but this one decision has made them go up in arms."</p>

<p>"The Australian team has asked for an investigation of the incident. I want to see attentively what happens. Will anyone be found guilty and if so what will happen to him? Will his membership be revoked or he won't be allowed to come to the ground for some time? Is something like that going to happen because it's not right," added the ex-Indian cricketer.</p>

<p>After losing the second straight Test at home on Sunday by 43 runs, England’s head coach, while speaking with Test Match Special, said, "I can't imagine we'll be having a beer anytime soon if that's what you're asking. From our point of view, we've got three Test matches to try and land some blows and try and win the Ashes, and that's where our focus will be."</p>

<p>When asked about the same to McDonald in the post-match presser, the former Aussie all-rounder said he hasn't spoken with Brendon yet, but going by these remarks, he is disappointed with this.</p>

<p>Just when the on-field proceedings were underway in the most usual manner on day five before tea, a cheeky run-out by Carey to dismiss Bairstow triggered a controversy, with fans and pundits sharing opposite views on the throwdown.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Though English fans believed that the dismissal was wrong and against the spirit of the game, several experts and Australian cricket enthusiasts argued that whatever happened was within the rule book and should be received and accepted the way it is.</p>

<p>"Australian management has requested the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) investigate several incidents involving spectators in the members area during lunch on day five of the Lord's Test," a Cricket Australia spokesman said.</p>

<p>"It is alleged players and staff from the Australian team were verbally abused, with some being physically contacted, as they made their way to lunch through the members area."</p>

<p>Apologising for the incident, the MCC said: "After this morning's play, emotions were running high, and words were unfortunately exchanged with some of the Australian team, by a small number of Members.</p>

<p>"We have unreservedly apologised to the Australian Team and will deal with any Member who has not maintained the standard we expect through our disciplinary processes.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"It was not necessary to eject anyone from the ground and I am pleased to say that there was no repeat of this as the players resumed the field for this afternoon's session."</p>

<p>Relations between the two sides were already fraught with the Australians left fuming on Saturday when Mitchell Starc thought he had caught opener Ben Duckett.</p>

<p>Starc held a low catch only to ground the ball while still sliding on the turf.</p>

<p>Under cricket's laws, a catch is only completed when the fielder has "complete control over the ball and his/her own movement" and cannot touch the ground before then if a dismissal is to be completed.</p>

The decision was referred upstairs and Duckett was adjudged 'not out.' MCC, on its Twitter handle, evoked Law 33.3, saying that Starc didn't have complete control over the ball.</p>

"The ball cannot touch the ground before then. In this particular incident, Mitchell Starc was still sliding as the ball rubbed the ground, therefore he was not in control of his movement."&nbsp;</p>

<p>England spinner Moeen Ali is expected to make a comeback in the third Ashes Test after sitting out the ongoing second Test at Lord's. <p>England has asked Moeen to come out of retirement after Jack Leach suffered a stress fracture in back before the start of five-Test series against Australia. <p>Lyon, while fielding on Day 2 of the Lord’s Test, injured his right calf as he attempted an awkward fielding movement in the 37th over of England’s first innings. The 35-year-old was seen hobbling towards the dressing room immediately with the medical team. Since the situation is not concussion-related, Australia can’t bring a substitute to replace him which leaves them a bowler as well as a batter short. He played a crucial role on Day 5 of the Edgbaston Test where the Aussies won by two wickets to take a 1-0 lead.</p>

<h2><strong>Lyon might even miss the rest of the Ashes</strong></h2>

<p>The injury news could have long-lasting consequences as he could miss the rest of the Ashes.
