<p>Former captain Allan Border revealed on Friday he is suffering from Parkinson's disease, the latest blow to befall former Australian cricketing legends in the past three years.</p>

<p>The 68-year-old has gone public seven years after being diagnosed with the illness and said he and a doctor friend both agreed it would be "a miracle" if he makes 80.</p>

<p>"No way am I going to get another 100, that’s for sure," Border told Newscorp.</p>

<p>"I'll just slip slowly into the west."</p>

<p>Border had told only one person of his diagnosis: former team-mate Dean Jones, who died of a heart attack in 2020.</p>

<p>Jones was the precursor of a terrible time for Australian cricket.</p>

<p>Former wicketkeeper Rod Marsh and spin king Shane Warne died within days of each other in March 2022, both from heart attacks.</p>

<p>Two months later Andrew Symonds -- a member of two World Cup-winning sides -- was killed in a car crash.</p>

<p>Border, who spoke at Warne's memorial service, said he had been happy to keep the news to himself over the past seven years but a friend had told him last week many of his close associates had noticed his shaking.</p>

<p>"I'm a pretty private person and I didn't want people to feel sorry for me sort of thing," he said.</p>

<p>"Whether people care you don’t know. But I know there’ll come a day when people will notice."</p>

<p>Border, though, showing the same rugged determination that he had as skipper -- yielding the 1987 World Cup and an Ashes series win over England in 1989 -- said he was in a better place than many other people.</p>

<p>"I get the feeling I'm a hell of a lot better off than most," said Border, who scored 27 centuries and 63 half-centuries in 156 Tests.</p>

<p>"At the moment I'm not scared, not about the immediate future anyway.</p>

<p>"I'm 68. If I make 80, that'll be a miracle.</p>

<p>"I've got a doctor friend and I said if I make 80, that'll be a miracle, and he said, 'That will be a miracle.'"</p>

<p>Given the not-so-rich history between Pietersen and some of his ex-teammates - especially regarding dressing room relationships, Harmison felt Kevin’s remarks might not be well-received by the English dressing room. Though Harmison justified England’s gameplay so far, saying the hosts had just gone through a few bad days in Tests for one year and should not be judged so quickly on that.</p>

<p>“I don’t think it was justified,” Harmison said interview with talkSPORT. “I think this team has had one or two bad days in 12-13 months. I think some of the stuff that they were having a go at them (for), too matey, I think there’s a time and a place.”&nbsp;</p>

<p>“But they’re in the mainstream media, they’re paid to give their opinion, and I’m not going to knock Kevin for having his opinion – he’s always had it," Harmison added.</p>

The experienced campaigner claimed to have battled through pain during the first session of the second Test.</p>

<p>Australia sit comfortably after day one's play, with the visitors on 339 for five. Following a mediocre outing in the first Test in Edgbaston, Warner returned to playing positively in this game, even surprising Broad with a paddle sweep off his delivery early inside the first hour.</p>

<p>However, even before the game started, Warner suffered a few blows to his hands during the throwdowns and once while batting in the nets. Earlier, during the India Test in Delhi in February, he got a knock to his hand off Mohammed Shami's rising bouncer that ruled him out of the remainder of the India tour.</p>

<p>Although he didn’t show any pain while batting, Warner, during the presser, admitted the soreness in his hand, especially in his palm, was there and that he will examine it after this Test. He also revealed he had his hand covered in an ice bucket throughout the afternoon following his dismissal.</p>

<p>Having already announced his retirement plans ahead of the away Ashes, Warner said the past six to eight months have been better in terms of him being in good form and the right space. Besides using his hands well, which he does quite often, Warner said feels his feet movement helped the cause too.</p>

<p>Although he hasn’t scored a big total in this format lately, with him feeling confident about his game, Warner is sure a game-changing knock is just around the corner.</p>

<p>"I've felt in total control the last six to eight months with where my game is. I'm moving into the ball, my feet are moving, not just playing with my hands," he said.</p>

<p>"I felt like I was onto something special in the World Test Championship final. And then the last game, the same thing. I feel like everything I'm putting in the nets is actually coming out there in the middle.</p>

<p>"I'm excited by it, and I think if I can keep getting myself in and keep that momentum going with my feet, a big one could be around the corner," Warner concluded.</p>

The contest was then halted for nearly 10 minutes while Bairstow stole the spotlight as he carried one of the protesters outside the field. The English wicketkeeper soon approached the dressing room as he changed gears having carried stained clothes after the incident. The action resumed as soon as Bairstow was back on the field while rain would become another barrier in the contest.</p>

<p>Speaking on Big Sports Breakfast, Clarke didn’t mince his words and slammed Robinson for the send-off he gave to Khawaja. Known to be vocal even during his time, Clarke said that had it not been about senior bowlers getting injured, Robinson wouldn’t have even been considered for the first Test.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“He needs to shoosh. If England were fully fit, you wouldn’t even get a game, Ollie. If Jofra Archer was playing, or if [Mark] Wood had been playing and was fully fit, old mate — I don’t know what town he plays for — he’d be back playing clubbies,” Clarke said.</p>

<p>He added if someone like James Anderson had given such a send-off, it would still make sense given his credentials in Test cricket, but Robinson, who Clarke feels has been around for a very little time, must look to take wickets only.</p>

<p>“I actually don’t know what he’s doing. If James Anderson is saying all this, he’s got street cred (credentials). He’s played 180 Test matches; he’s got a lot of wickets. This dude has been around for five minutes. He needs to concentrate on taking wickets. Ollie, just keep taking five-fors, and then you can say what you like,” Clarke added.</p>

<p>The MLB game was part of a two-game series between the Chicago Cubs and the St. Louis Cardinals held by MLB Europe in a bid to promote the game outside the USA. The Cubs won the game 9-1.</p>

<p>“The speed they get to the ball, the speed they release the ball and the speed of the throw. I know it’s a different ball but I think it’s something we could learn from,” he added.</p>

<p>Speaking about the Ashes, Australia are currently 1-0 up after they won the first Test in Birmingham in a sensational manner. Lyon was at the crease with his skipper Pat Cummins who hit the winnings runs in dying moments of the game on day 5.</p>

<p>Anderson, on the other hand, didn't have a great game as he managed just one wicket on the flat Edgbaston surface. The veteran, however, was sure that England will bounce back.</p>

Not only in the first innings of the Edgbaston Test but on both occasions, the England veteran got rid of Marnus Labuschagne, in a similar fashion, caught behind. Now, ahead of the start of the second Test that begins on Wednesday at Lord’s in London, Marnus is working on the way to not getting out chasing the fifth-stump line.</p>

<p>Labuschagne admitted the low bounce on that lifeless Edgbaston pitch pushed him to play that line, which resulted in his dismissal in both innings.&nbsp;The right-handed batter said those the manner in which he got out was very uncharacteristic, and he was frustrated with himself because of that.</p>

<p>"When you get out first ball, you just throw it in the bag. Potentially, I thought that they were going to come straight, and then he got a nice ball that swung in the right area. With a lack of bounce at Edgbaston, it sucks you into thinking you can hit the ball a bit more, and I just made a few poor decisions [against balls] that were really wide. They'd be eighth or ninth stump, some of those deliveries.</p>

<p>"They were very uncharacteristic dismissals to how I've usually played, that's why I was pretty frustrated with myself to get out that way and asked myself the question, 'Why did I play at those deliveries?" - Marnus said.</p>

<p>Speaking of how he would avoid getting into the same position again in the series, Marnus said he would work on some technicalities; and since it’s a rarity for him to get out like this, he believes not sleeping over it would help the cause.</p>

<p>"I've come up with my summation of what that is. Now it's if there's anything I can do tactically or technically to make sure it doesn't happen again. It's a rarity that I'd play at those balls, so it's not something I'm going to overthink, but I hold myself to a much higher standard than those dismissals," the star Aussie batter added.</p>

<p>“From my perspective, him playing that method and those shots are keeping us in the game,” said Labuschagne. As quoted by The Sydney Morning Herald, Labuschagne pointed out Root's dismissal in the second Test (stumped out for 46) and said, "I use that second innings as an example. He probably had an opportunity to shut us out and take the game away from us completely. But the method and the way he was playing kept us in the game and, evidently, he played unbelievable innings, but he ended up getting 40 [46] and if he turns that 40 into 80-plus, we’re chasing 300 and that’s going to be a pretty big effort."</p>

<p>Veteran England seamer James Anderson was left disappointed with Edgbaston's pitch and said if curators continue to prepare similar surfaces for the games to continue, he is done with this Ashes.
