Former India captain Sourav Ganguly has backed Mohammed Shami to bounce back as despite getting snubbed for the South Africa series that starts on Friday (Nov 14). Shami, who last played for the Indian team in the Champions Trophy, was overlooked for the series in favour of Prasidh Krishna, Akash Deep and Jasprit Bumrah. However, Ganguly reckons Shami still has great potential and could bounce back to play for India again.
Ganguly backs Shami to bounce back
“Shami is great, he’s bowling exceptionally well. You saw in the 2-3 Ranji trophy matches where he's won Bengal on his own. I'm sure the selectors are watching. I'm sure there is communication between Shami and the selectors, I don't know. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) could soon ban transgender women from women's sport as it takes a historic step in running to the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. According to media reports, Olympic chiefs are looking at prohibiting athletes with DSD (differences of sex development) from women's events, given testosterone advantages. Delhi’s historic JLN Stadium to be razed for 102-acre new sports city: Report

India head coach Gautam Gambhir has hinted at possible changes to the Indian team’s batting line-up in the T20I format as they prepare for the T20 World Cup, which starts in February. The Indian team, led by Suryakumar Yadav, will be out to defend the title they won in 2024 as they put together a strong side with just three months remaining for the tournament to start. However, according to Gambhir, batting orders are overrated except for the openers.
Gambhir hints at possible changes
“That has been the ideology from day one. When I took over as head coach in Sri Lanka till now, it has not changed,” Gambhir told the BCCI in an interview after India’s 2-1 series triumph in Australia. “Batting orders are very overrated, except the two openers. The rest, I think, shuffle because it’s not the amount of runs that matters in T20I cricket. It’s the impact that matters. People sometimes miscalculate or do not differentiate between runs and impact. In T20Is, it’s all about impact — it’s 120 balls, each ball is an event. And that’s why every ball needs to have the maximum impact we can have. That’s the reason, from day one, we’ve had a very fluid batting order. And that’s how we want to play this game as well.” ALSO READ | From Leonard Hutton to Don Bradman, 5 batters with highest individual score in Ashes The Indian team made a string of experiments during the Australia vs India series recently, with Tilak Varma sitting out for one of the matches, while Jitesh Sharma was also preferred in the Playing XI. The Formula One Season is all set for another close finish as Lando Norris now sits in the pole position to win the 2025 championships after his latest success in the Sao Paulo Grand Prix. With only three races to go, it will be now interesting to see when the British driver could win the championship and end Max Verstappen’s dream of a fifth consecutive F1 title. While Norris stays in the hunt, his nearest compatriot and McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri will look to make a comeback of all comebacks, so here’s all you need to know when Norris could win the 2025 F1 title.

DRIVER STANDINGS (with three rounds to go) Norris extends his lead to 24 points 📈#F1 #BrazilGP pic.twitter.com/juh6zgXv4n— Formula 1 (@F1) November 9, 2025

What is the current scenario?
At the time of writing on Monday (Nov 10), after the completion of the Sao Paulo GP, Norris leads the way with 390 points after his seventh win of the season. Now with 17 podium finishes in the season, Norris could seal the title in the coming weeks, but still faces stern competition from Piastri and Verstappen. On the other hand, Piastri and Verstappen sit second and third with 366 and 341 points respectively. As things stand, the drivers only have a maximum of 86 points to collect from the rest of the season (25*3 points for main race + 1*3 points for fastest lap + 8 points for sprint race in Qatar.
Max Verstappen's scenario to win F1 title
Currently, Verstappen can reach a maximum of 427 points, while his fewer race wins mean he can’t leapfrog Norris on the same number of wins. This means Norris should not collect more than 36 points in the remaining three races of the season, which would limit his tally to 426 or fewer points. At the same time, Piastri should not collect more than 60 points, meaning he, like Norris, should be restricted to 426 points. At the same time, Verstappen will have to collect all the available points, which include wins in the remaining three Grand Prix and the sprint race in Qatar. However, any drop in points would hamper his chances of retaining the F1 title.
Oscar Piastri scenario to win F1 title
Unlike Verstappen, Piastri has a better chance of winning the F1 title as he sits just 24 points behind McLaren teammate Norris. He can reach a maximum of 476 points in case he collects all the available points; in this scenario, even if Norris is second best to Piastri in all aspects, it will be the Australian who will win the title. Technically, Piastri needs no favour to win the F1 title as his fate remains in his own hands. However, failure to get better results than Norris will kill Piastri’s bid to win the F1 title. ALSO READ | From Steve Smith to Joe Root, 5 active batters with most runs in Ashes
Lando Norris’s scenario to win F1 title
Sitting in pole position, Norris needs to reach 453 points to seal this year’s F1 title, as second-placed Piastri can reach a maximum of 452 points. Former India batter Mohammed Kaif says IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings (CSK) wanting Sanju Samson means MS Dhoni will be playing his last IPL in upcoming season. The statement comes a day after trade talks between CSK and Rajasthan Royals which includes a swap for Sanju Samson from RR to CSK for Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran.
