While the talk of the town is Ravindra Jadeja and Sanju Samson’s trade in the Indian Premier League (IPL) retention window, a new transfer could be on the list. In a shocking revelation by former India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, Shardul Thakur could be on his way to the Mumbai Indians from Lucknow Super Giants. It is worth noting that the trade window for IPL 2026 will close on Saturday (Nov 15) with Jadeja-Samson already looking like a done deal.
Shardul to Mumbai Indians?
“I don’t see any releases happening from Mumbai, they won’t release anyone. World Test Championship (WTC) winner South Africa are in India for a full tour which starts with a two-Test series on November 14. The WTC defending champions recently drew a Test series in Pakistan, helping them prepare for the similar conditions in India. While the pitches are not as expected to be as spin friendly as they were in Pakistan, South Africa should not be taking too time to adjust and are expected to bring their A game against two-time WTC finalists India.
Ex-SA skipper Graeme Smith on upcoming series
"You always want to start well in India. In what could be a unfortunate situation, the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) might end up not playing its home matches at the iconic Chinnaswamy Stadium. The development comes as Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA), under which Chinnaswamy operates, continues to battle aftermath of July 4 stampede triggered by RCB's maiden IPL trophy celebration. There are discussion underway for Pune to be RCB's home in IPL 2026 but nothing in concrete as of now. Will RCB play home matches in Pune in IPL 2026 “This arrangement (Pune hosting RCB’s matches) is in discussion but it’s not confirmed yet," Maharashtra Cricket Association secretary Kamlesh Pisal told Times of India about the potential decision. Since the rise of T20 cricket, the 50-over format has been feeling the heat. The ODIs are now considered long and being questioned about its relativity in today's fast-paced world. In order to ensure that format stays relevant, the International Cricket Council (ICC) is mulling bringing back ODI Super League. The 13-team tournament, which was scrapped following 2023 ODI World Cup, however, won't be able to make a comeback before 2028 because of packed international calendars. The World Test Championship (WTC) cycle in 2027-29 is not likely to feature a two-tier system, instead 12 teams could feature in the next cycle from the current nine participating countries. Next February's 75th NBA All-Star Game will feature a three-team round robin tournament with two teams of United States players and a World squad of global talent, the league announced on Tuesday.
Who was Micheal Ray Richardson?
Micheal Ray Richardson, a native of Denver, played college basketball at the University of Montana before being selected by the New York Knicks as the fourth overall pick in the 1978 NBA Draft. Nicknamed “Sugar,” Richardson had a notable eight-season NBA career, playing for the Knicks, Golden State Warriors, and New Jersey Nets. In 1986, Richardson was banned from the NBA after violating the league's drug policy for a third time. His addiction to cocaine led to his suspension, which cut short his time in the NBA. After the ban, he played briefly in the Continental Basketball Association (CBA) before heading overseas to continue his career in Italy and France. Richardson’s basketball journey did not end with his playing days. After retiring as a player in 2002, he transitioned to coaching. He found success in the CBA, leading the Albany Patroons and Oklahoma/Lawton-Fort Sill Cavalry to multiple championships, including back-to-back titles in 2008 and 2009, and another in 2010 after the team joined the Premier Basketball League.
