Saina Nehwal slammed Badminton world federation (BWF) for the international calendar of the badminton tournaments.

Saina Nehwal said that the way the calendar has been made it hardly leaves any time for players to be at their best performance.

In the BWF's revamped calendar it is mandatory for world's top 15 players in the singles events and top 10 pairs in the double to play a minimum of 12 tournaments or they will have to face a penalty.

Media reported Saina Nehwal as saying "Next year's schedule by BWF is too cramped, it is not right for the top players. I need more time to get the best out of me. I can't play back-to-back events. I can just participate but can't win."

"After the PBL we have three tournaments. Again before the World Championship, there are three super series, so I am not understanding why BWF decided to go for such a schedule. It will be too tiring, too challenging," Nehwal added.

Olympic champion and two-time world championship gold medalist Carolina Marin also said similar things

According to media reports, Marin also called new rule "stupid."
