Liverpool manager Juergen Klopp says Jose Mourinho is an "outstanding manager" despite the Portuguese being sacked by Manchester United earlier on Tuesday.
Mourinho was shown the door at Old Trafford two-and-a-half years after joining the 20-time English champions, with United in sixth in the Premier League - 19 points adrift of Klopp's Liverpool at the top.
United's 3-1 defeat at Anfield on Sunday (December 16) was the final straw for the United board with the Red Devils having won only once in their last six league matches.
Klopp though heaped praise on the former Inter Milan, Chelsea, Porto and Real Madrid boss who has won 20 major trophies throughout his managerial career.
Klopp also reacted positively to Liverpool drawing Bayern Munich in the Champions League last-16 draw on Monday (December 17).
Mourinho famously won the 2004 Champions League with Porto and repeated the feat with Inter six years later with a 2-0 victory over Bayern Munich.
The 55-year-old won two trophies in his first season with United - the Europa League and League Cup in the 2016/17 campaign.
