
The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season witnessed a high-scoring affair as Sanju Samson-Jos Buttler steered Rajasthan Royals (RR) to their fourth with of the season. A day highlighted by Virat Kohli’s eighth IPL hundred was overshadowed by Buttler and Samson as they led RR to an emphatic six-wicket win against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at Sawai Mansing Stadium in Jaipur. The win also helped RR continue their unbeaten run and now top the standings with eight points in four matches.
Chasing 184, Rajasthan Royals lost impressive Yashasvi Jaiswal on the second ball of their innings and were reduced to 0/1. However, a resolute stand from Samson and Buttler steered the hosts to a commanding position. The pair put together 148 runs for the second wicket and took the game away from RCB. Samson was dismissed for 69 off 42 which consisted of 8 fours and 2 sixes in his innings. Buttler, playing in his 100th IPL match, scored his sixth IPL ton to help RR secure the two points and maintain a perfect record.
Earlier, it was aVirat Kohli show as he carried his bat having scored the eighth hundred in the IPL history. Virat scored an unbeaten 113 off 72 deliveries and was seen in fine form and stitched a partnership of 125 runs for the opening wicket. Glenn Maxwell’s (1) poor form in the IPL continued while Kohli was inscoring mood. Kohli scored 12 fours and 4 sixes to help his side to a total of 183/3 in 20 overs.
Yuzvendra Chahal against his former side scalped two wickets while Trent Boult ended with one.

RR next take on Gujarat Titans (GT) in the next game at the same venue in a repeat of the 2022 IPL final on Wednesday. RR will be looking for their fifth win while GT will also look to earn another vital two points in the IPL 2024. With four defeats in five, RCB are now on a decline and will quickly need to find their mojo to win and stay in the playoff race hunt. They will next take on Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium on Thursday.
