New Delhi, India

Delhi Capitals’ Kuldeep Yadav is likely to miss the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) contest against five-time champions Mumbai Indians (MI). Kuldeep, who is one of the key assets in the DC team has not played in the last two matches due to groin niggle. The left-arm spinner’s unavailability will be a huge void to fill for the IPL strugglers, who sit second from bottom with just one win throughout the campaign.

Kuldeep likely to miss MI clash

According to Espncricinfo, it is thought that Kuldeep has been advised to not play in the upcoming match against the Mumbai Indians (MI) so that he could be fit for future matches. In his two matches so far he has figures of 2/20 against Punjab Kings and 1/41 against Rajasthan Royals. However, since the latter game, he has not made it to the squad and was unavailable as an impact substitute as well. This clearly indicates that Kuldeep is not one hundred percent fit for the 2020 IPL runners-up.

The 29-year-old will be keeping an eye out for the T20 World Cup in the West Indies and the USA. He will likely board the flight for Team India for the tournament. Kuldeep has been one of the important members of the Indian squad and was also part of the 2023 ODI World Cup. His batting ability in the role of a pitch-hitter is also another key area where selectors could edge him over Ravi Bishnoi in the squad.

What next for DC?

Advertisment

Delhi Capitals next take on Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai as they look to get back to winning ways. DC’s only win has so far come against defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Sunday. Since then they have lost to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in Vizag. They were beaten by 106 runs and gave away 272 runs while fielding.

However, Sunday’s clash will be a perfect fit for them as they take on an MI side yet to win this season.
