The Board of Control for Cricket in India(BCCI) on Tuesday informed that India will host newly-promoted Afghanistan for their first-ever Test match in 2018-2019.

As per reports, Afghans were scheduled to take on Australia in their first test in 2019, but India decided to host them first considering the ties two countries share.
Earlier this year, Ireland and Afghanistan were given the Test status in June to become the 11th and 12th Test nations respectively in the list.
BCCI, in its latest Future Tours Programme (FTP) announced that Afghanistan, a team that has made rapid strides despite the constant troubles back home, will play its first ever Test against India.
