‘Daughters have lost’ – Sakshi, Bajrang slam BJP for giving election ticket to accused Brij Bhushan’s son

Two most renowned active Indian wrestlers, Sakshi Malik and Bajrang Punia, have slammed the ruling government party for not taking care of women’s safety in this country. Such remarks have come after Brij Bhushan Singh’s son, Karan Bhushan Singh, was named the BJP candidate for the Kaiserganj seat in Uttar Pradesh.

Brij Bhushan Singh - a sitting MP from Kaiserganj, is accused of sexually assaulting several women wrestlers during his time as the chief of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI). Although he remains suspended from his position at WFI since the Sports Ministry began an investigation into the matter, Bajrang – who led the protest against him, said the power would ultimately remain with the father, who is roaming around freely despite countless accusations levelled against him.

Bajrang continued by saying that by appointing Karan Bhushan Singh, BJP showed that dynastic politics is also prevalent in the ruling party.

Talking to the Indian Express, Bajrang said, “I don’t know why the government is so scared of Brij Bhushan. His son getting the ticketalsoshows the ‘parivarvad’ in the BJP. The BJP criticises other partiessaying‘parivarvad’ exists, but they are no different.”

Meanwhile, taking to the social media website X, Sakshi Malik wrote that the "daughters of this country have lost," adding the protestingwrestlersput their careers on the line just for the sake ofjustice, which they are yet to get.

She continued saying that other than arresting the accused, Brij Bhushan Singh, the BJP gave his son the ticket, shattering millions of aspirations.

“Daughters of the country have lost, Brij Bhushan won. We all put our careers on the line, weslept on streets in the rain and heat. Brij Bhushan hasn’tbeen arrestedtill today.

“We are not asking for anything but justice. Leave asidearrest,by giving an election ticket tohisson, theyhave shattered the aspirations of the country’s millions of daughters. Is the country’s government so powerless in front of one man that the ticket had tobe givento only one family?

“(They want votes in Prabhu Shri Ram’sname,what about the path he showed?),” Sakshi wrote on X, a post which is now either deleted or made private.

Shameful that Govtis supporting such aperson

Bajrang spoke against this move by the BJP, saying that how could the ruling party support a person who has several criminal cases lodged against him and has been sexually harassing women wrestlers?

“It is shameful that the government is supporting a person who is sexually harassing the sister and daughters (women wrestlers) of this country. When it comes to the ticket for Lok Sabha elections, the person who has been molesting women and a person against whom there are already so many criminal cases lodged…they are giving his son the ticket.

“Giving a ticket to the son is equal to giving a ticket to the father; the power will be with the father. The son is just a dummy. There can’t be anything worse than this. Sexual harassment of women will continue at this rate,” he said.
