Coach Juergen Klopp’s Liverpool beat Pep Guardiola's Manchester City 2-1 in an all-English encounter at the Etihad stadium to enter the semi-finals of the Champions League.
City who were already trailing 3-0 from the first leg failed to stop Klopp’s team as Salah and Firmino put the rampant Liverpool team into the next stage of Europe's premier league.
"It was quite difficult tonight, especially with the start," Liverpool manager Juergen Klopp said.
"This wonderful goal that we served them on a plate. I was expecting something like that but I liked the reaction immediately after that. They could’ve scored two or three goals in the first half but it was 100 percent clear that if we win the ball we’d have an opportunity," an elated Klopp added.
Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola had a difficult match which was made worse after protests over Sane's disallowed goal resulted in him being sent to the stands for the second half.
"In this competition, the teams are so equal and the influence of refereeing decisions is so important," Pep said after the match.
