Pakistan's former military ruler Pervez Musharraf shall not return to the country until an interim government is formed. Musharraf is supposed to appear before a special Pakistani court in a high treason court.
The former president and chief of All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) has postponed his plan to return from the UAE. According to reports, the incumbent government will not provide him the security he had applied for.
Musharraf is likely to return by the end of May or early June this year as soon as an interim government is formed, a party leader told media.
The 74-year-old retired general has been living in Dubai since last year after he was allowed to leave Pakistan for his medical treatment.
Musharraf had ruled Pakistan from 1999 to 2008. He had sought adequate security from the government for his return. Apetition was moved to the interior ministry as the former president faced security threats.
A new application will be filed with the federal government seeking foolproof security for Musharraf.
