Talking about a long drawn process to be initiated in the country, President Ghani said that Kabul has its own plan for talks with the terrorist group.

He said, "Earlier we always urged others to help us achieve peace in our country. Now we have our own peace process which is Afghan-led and Afghan-owned. It is an Afghan initiative."

He, however, did not mention when and where the talks will be conducted.

Ghani said that it would be better for the people of the war-torn country if a peace deal is concluded before the parliamentary election in October.

The move has come days after the United States anticipated an important role for itself in possible peace talks with the Taliban.

Referring to the Ramzan ceasefire he said there was no bloodletting during that period.

Ghani said that the country paid the price for the hostilities before and after the recent ceasefire, however, there was no bloodletting during that period.

He further asked, why should we continue with the bloodshed?
