Police arrested an "active terrorist" of Babbar Khalsa International outfit early on Thursday (Mar 6) from Kaushambi in India's Uttar Pradesh.
The terrorist, identified as Lajar Masih, was nabbed in a joint operation by Uttar Pradesh STF and Punjab Police.
With alleged links to Pakistan's ISI, Masih had planned a terror attack during the Maha Kumbh.
While addressing a press conference, Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police Prashant Kumar said that Masih had planned a major terror attack during the religious gathering of Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj.
"However, due to intensive security checks at the religious gathering, he failed to execute his plan," he said.
The Maha Kumbh was held at Prayagraj from January 13 to February 26.
The DGP said that the terrorist's arrest further confirms smuggling of drugs and arms from Pakistan into India.
<h2>Masih was a resident of Punjab</h2>
A resident of Kurlian village in Ramdas area of Amritsar, Punjab, Masih was arrested at around 3.20 am.
Additional Director General of Police Amitabh Yash sharing details about the arrest said that the operation to nab Masih was carried out in the Kokhraj police station area of Kaushambi.
"As per available information, the arrested terrorist works for Swarn Singh alias Jeevan Fauji, the head of the Germany-based module of Babbar Khalsa International and is in direct touch with Pakistan-based ISI operatives," Yash said.
He further added that the UP STF recovered explosive material and illegal arms from Masih.
<h2>Hand grenades, detonators seized</h2>
The seizures made from the terrorist include three active hand grenades, two active detonators, one foreign-made pistol and 13 cartridges of foreign make, said the officer.
Apart from this, a white coloured explosive powder, an Aadhaar card with a Ghaziabad address, one mobile phone without SIM card was also seized from his possession, according to the officer.
"This terrorist had escaped judicial custody in Punjab on September 24, 2024," the ADG added.

<h2>What did the report reveal?</h2>
The Tunnel Seismic Prediction (TSP) &ndash; 303 Plus report was prepared by a tunnelling survey company Amberg Tech AG in January 2020. The report pointed out a fault zone between 13.88 km (13,882 m) and 13.91 km (13,914 m) from the entrance of the tunnel. It further suggested weak rock formations and water-bearing risks.
Noida-based company Jaiprakash Associates Ltd, which was awarded the tunnelling contract in 2005, confirmed the report but did not elaborate, saying, &ldquo;We have no comments on this,&rdquo; according to The Indian Express. Amberg also refused to comment, saying that the report and data are confidential.

Another study by former Director General of Geological Survey of India Mandapalli Raju and Jaiprakash Associate&rsquo;s geologist Rituraj Deshmukh in 2020 found that the tunneling started without proper subsurface exploration. As the tunnel falls in the Tiger Reserve Forest, subsurface investigations along the tunnel alignment were not allowed. Therefore, the construction activities started based on a limited preliminary assessment of the terrain.

The minister said, "we're working together, and we will make this tank together...It's a big batch, 700 tanks, so it's very important for the protection of the border of India". The Zorawar&rsquo;s armament includes a 105 mm gun from John Cockerill of Belgium.

We're working together, and we will make this tank together. Hopefully the contract is not really finally passed, but it's looking very good, and we emphasize that also with your Prime Minister, also with the Minister of defense. Tanks, defence attaché, agreements: Belgium keen to firm up defence ties with India

New Delhi: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to travel to Sri Lanka in April. The visit, according to Sri Lankan sources, is still firming up and could happen around 5th April, with focus on a range of issues, including connectivity and economic ties.
The invitation for this visit was extended by Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake during his two-day trip to New Delhi in mid-December 2024. That was President Dissanayake's first overseas visit after being elected in September 2024.

Justice Anup Jairam Bhambhani passed the directive during the hearing of a petition filed by a student seeking guidelines regarding the use of mobile phones in schools.
The court noted that its intent is to establish guiding principles to balance the positive and negative effects of allowing students to use smartphones while attending school:
1. As a policy, students should not be barred from carrying smartphones to school, but the use of smartphones must be regulated and monitored.
2. Where possible, arrangements should be made for the safekeeping of smartphones. Students should be required to deposit their smartphones when they enter school and retrieve them when they return home.
3. Smartphones should not disrupt classroom teaching, discipline, or the overall educational atmosphere. Thus, the use of smartphones in class must be prohibited. Additionally, the use of cameras and recording facilities on smartphones should be barred in common areas of the school as well as in school vehicles.
4. Schools must educate students on responsible online behaviour, digital manners, and the ethical use of smartphones. Students should be counselled that high levels of screen time and social media engagement can lead to anxiety, diminished attention spans, and cyberbullying.

5. The policy should permit the use of smartphones for connectivity for purposes of safety and coordination but disallow the use of smartphones for entertainment/recreational use;
6. The policy on regulating and monitoring the use of smartphones in school should be made in consultation with parents, educators, and experts, to evolve a balanced approach that addresses the needs and concerns of all parties involved;

A case has been registered against the owner and the artist for defaming Lord Jagannath under Sections 196, 299, and 305 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
"The owner of a tattoo shop located in Saheed Nagar shared a video on his social media of a woman of foreign nationality getting a tattoo of Lord Jagannath on her thigh. The sentiments of devotees got hurt. The owner of the tattoo shop, Rocky, and his assistant have been arrested by the police," Biswaranjan Senapati, Bhubaneswar Assistant Commissioner of Police, told news agency ANI.

The owner and artist of a tattoo studio in Odisha's Bhubaneswar have been arrested for inking the image of Lord Jagannath on a customer's thigh. The row erupted after devotees of the Hindu deity alleged their sentiments were hurt following this incident. The tattoo was inked on a foreign national's thigh. Devotees said it was an unsuitable place to ink the deity's image. But this particular episode irked people, thus leading to the filing of a complaint. Bhubaneswar Police have taken cognisance of the incident that took place on Sunday (March 2). A case has been registered against the owner and the artist for defaming Lord Jagannath under Sections 196, 299, and 305 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. "The owner of a tattoo shop located in Saheed Nagar shared a video on his social media of a woman of foreign nationality getting a tattoo of Lord Jagannath on her thigh. The sentiments of devotees got hurt. The owner of the tattoo shop, Rocky, and his assistant have been arrested by the police," Biswaranjan Senapati, Bhubaneswar Assistant Commissioner of Police, told news agency ANI. I just asked the artist to ink the tattoo in a hidden place. I didn’t want to create any situation. I’m very sorry for this. As soon as the tattoo area heals, I will have it removed.
