Congress President Rahul Gandhi embarked on a two-day visit to his parliamentary constituency Amethi in Uttar Pradesh starting Monday. During the day, Rahul tried to woo the farmers by promising a food park where their products will be sold at the right prices. Rahul, however, added that all of this would be possible only when Congress forms a government in Uttar Pradesh. While addressing the gathering, Rahul attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his policies, claiming it is not in Amethi people's benefit. Rahul even whet on to compare PM Modi's government with that of China, saying the work Chinese government does in two days, the ruling takes a complete year. "Jo kaam China ki sarkaar do din mein karti hai use karne mein Narendra Modi Ji ki sarkaar ko ek saal lag jaata hai," said Rahul. He asked people to name Centre's one scheme which has benefitted the people. "Please tell me one Narendra Modi government scheme where someone has benefitted?" As per media reports, the Gandhi scion accused Modi led government of spreading communal violence, saying they only know how to make one caste fight with the other. It is Gandhi's first visit to Amethi since he took over the rein of Congress from his mother and former party president Sonia Gandhi. His visit comes on the heels of the assembly election result in Gujarat, in which his party showed a much better performance from the last election in the state. Gandhi has now shifted his focus on Uttar Pradesh and plans to give a morale boost to party cadres for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
